I miss this man so much. I've seen pictures of him when he was pretty much a heavy lightweight. It's insane how much devotion he's put into strength. My father has met him and real life and he says he is a walking mountain. He's never seen shoulders so wide and huge in his life and he's never seen triceps so well developed.

He came out of retirement in his 50s, went toe to toe against prime Cyplenkov, and almost won. Can't even begin to imagine how badass he was in his prime!

@@Azola69 Well, depends on who you talk to I guess. Some say Denis' prime right-hand years were 2007 to 2011, since his elbow injury was already starting to affect him by 2012.

He was fucking nearly unbeatable. The best of the best at the time couldn't beat him. He was 2nd in the world. Essentially Levan now. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes right back in and becomes as strong as somebody like some of the young superheavyweights.

Dude defeated Brzenk in 1988 and 1989. That's how good this dude is.

Always enjoyed watching any info and interviews with Rich. The perfect combination of on-table intensity and on-and-off table respect for his opponents and the sport. A true gentleman, but a gentleman you wouldn't want to mess with.

Best arm-wrestling style of all. Doesn't go under the table ( worst of all styles! ), doesn't stall, doesn't argue, doesn't slip out on purpose. Just straight on arm-wrestling. Power/Strength and technique. Awesome.

It is insane to be 300+ pounds of lean muscle with such low body fat and vascularity. Not even IFBB Pro bodybuilders who have only 1 goal, can be that big and lean at 60+ years old, most of them shrink after 45-50 years old. I am still wondering about his steroid cycle and in what shape are his internal organs after so many decades of steroid usage. Guy has incredible genetics for strength, muscle mass and longevity with steroids usage...insane.

What make Richard so impressive is that he isn't a technical master or anything, doesn't slip or try to win by kings move, or tire you out he just grabs your hand and pushes like old school. There are very few that do that these days as it's becoming a tactical sport but it's why all professional arm wresters respect him immensely they know he is a beast and very difficult to beat if you play him at his game. When Devon beat him Devon used his technical prowess to do so admittedly because it would be daft nit to against someone so powerful. Lupkes coming back is great for the sport

Would love to see one last “Hoorah” from him , I’m sure he could still bang with some top guys

I believe it was Devon and John Milne who were discussing Richard, They basically said he had very little table time and what he did on the table was mainly from his weightlifting. So imagine if there would have been an Igor around to help Richard in his prime. I love seeing guys like Richard,Denis,Levan,Pushkar. These guys get your heart pumping

Quite a legend in his own right and no doubt has his ancestry from the old Germanic or Slavic people, not only his name that's gives us this clue but his stregnth is clearly in his DNA. Often one can actually tell with Americans where they originate from. I'm from S Africa and am a decendant of the old Prussians and I share alot of resemblance with many European people.

Armwrestling is about going where your opponent is weak not where you are strong.

@@hasoonnine , Denis said many times in his interviews that he underestimated Lupkes and that was the only reason Denis let Lupkes immediately go into hook. Denis says if he fought Lupkes again he definitely would use other technique and strategies for easier win.
