Richard Ireland, Psychic, Pt. 1

Ойын-сауық

Richard Ireland demonstrates his psychic abilities on the Steve Allen Show in 1971. During the show, Steve Allen, an ardent skeptic, even provides commentary to acknowledge the validity of Ireland's unusual capacity. Biographical information on Richard Ireland can be found in the newly released book, Soul Shift: Finding Where the Dead Go, written by his son Mark Ireland. Any person seeking to "debunk" this video faces a monumental task, because there are so many aspects to consider. In a typical demonstration, Ireland would provide highly specific messages-similar to those on this video-to approximately 50 people in an audience of 100, eliminating the theory of audience "plants." Also, on three separate occasions-during live demonstrations, a former employer sent him currency wrapped in aluminum foil, yet Ireland was still able to correctly state the serial number on each bill. In the 1980s, members of the Hawaiian Remote Viewers Guild tested Ireland by applying a flour paste over his face, yet he still demonstrated the same ability to see while blinded.

Dear Mark, my father took me to see your father back in 1967 or so, in San Francisco. I was about 7 yo.A great show. Blindfolded, he could read the serial numbers off a dollar bill. It was a very inspiring evening.

My band, Atlantis, worked in a Phoenix night club with Dr. Ireland for four months back in 1971. We did everything we could to foul him up, and he always knew how, when and where. He also gave us correct answers to questions he couldn't possibly have known anything about. He was the real deal :-)

Someone posted and then immediately deleted a comment saying that my dad's abilities were the same as mentalist Derren Brown. I viewed Brown's clips and that is like saying that Pee Wee Herman and Jack Nicholson are both actors. I can't satisfy all skeptics but I know that my father's abilities were real. I saw him deliver specific messages to half the crowd in such settings. It was also part of our daily life and I have statements from scientists and others who tested him and were convinced.

On 5/17/2010, a Carol Burek sent me this account: "Richard Ireland spoke to the Engineering Honor Society at ASU in Dec 1964 or early 1965. Without unfolding the paper, he called me by name and said, "Congratulations, you will have an October baby." I had been depressed, because about a week earlier I'd been told by a doctor that I would probably never be able to have children. Again, this was 1964-65, and our first child was born October 23, 1966. Our second child was born October 1, 1973!

I am fine with skeptics who want to question my father's abilities, but someone just took a pot shot at me for sharing the story involving my son, who I lost in 2004. I believe in the human soul and the survival of consciousness after physical death. I have what I consider to be good evidence to support these statements and I will continue to share it. If you are so cold as to berate a bereaved parent who is trying to bring hope to others then we have nothing to discuss.

Carol Burek's's note continued..."The group that night was a very, very skeptical group of engineers who were totally awed by the end of the evening. One young man wrote in a what I think may have been a Sanskrit-type of script, and Dr. Ireland just held up the folded paper and identified the language, saying he didn’t “read” it but would answer the question as he knew what it said anyway."

Per an article in the March 12, 1972 Tuscalosa News, Helmut Schmidt of the Duke Parapsychology Lab tested my father as follows: "Schmidt had someone select, from a table of random numbers, three numbers that were written down and put into a sealed envelope. The numbers were 385. 'It was completely stunning,' Schmidt says, recollecting Ireland's answer to the question, 'What do I have in this envelope?' His answer: 'There are three numbers. They are written in red ink and the numbers are 385."

@@big3ye378 Schmidt worked with J.B. Rhine at the Duke Parapsychology lab, but I'm not sure if he was involved with Star Gate, which was a government backed remote viewing initiative. Before Star Gate began, the government worked with Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff at SRI (The Stanford Research Institute) to research the phenomena. Their findings were later used to develop protocols used in the Star Gate program. Former NASA Astronaut Edwin Mitchell also worked with Targ and Putnoff at SRI, but I don't know if any of the three were involved with Star Gate after that program got underway.

Hi, I have had a number of psychic experiences, but they tend to be sporadic. I haven't really dedicated myself to developing the ability like my dad. He actually did this sort of thing (predict births) quite often. Here's an account from a woman by the name of Gladys Hext Schatan: "A bunch of us went to see your dad in Kaanapali [Maui] in 1976. I’d just been informed earlier that day that I was pregnant and the only people who knew were the doctor and my husband. While blindfolded, your dad called my name out and asked, “Do you know that you’re pregnant, or am I the first to know?” My friends laughed and when I said “yes” they became believers. Your dad asked what [sex] I wanted and I said it didn’t matter, as long as the baby was healthy. He then told me that the baby would be a girl and he saw lots of lights and cameras around her. I ended up having a daughter and she grew up to be a runway model. She worked all over the world from the age of 14 to 35. Your father was amazing and very funny. He has a special place in my heart."

@tygersflowerz I didn't say popular I said default. Skepticism is always the default position when an extraordinary claim is produced.... or do you just believe anything? You can believe what you wish, I will limit my beliefs to that which is indicated.

@Wolfsbane909 It's a white sheet of paper, I wrote something down on it. Tell me what I wrote. Simple as that. The sheet of paper is still sitting on my desk in an envelope and no psychic/remote viewer can tell me what it is.

@flunkycarter I will play. Of course u do realize what these implications would have. For example reading nuclear launch codes. answer this what colour is the paper? so many papers lying around be SPECIFIC. Identifiers that are SPECIFIC to that piece of paper. I don't mind giving it a shot, not as good as this guy in the vid though.

This is an excellent entertainment.... but it's clearly just a show - with the stage voice, the blindfolding, the shuffling and holding handfulls of cards up to his head. Reminds me a bit of Peter Popoff and I suspect he is doing something similar. If the guy is psychic he wouldn't need his audiences to write stuff down on cards and pass them in. The cards and the collection of the cards are completely unnecessary. I don't know how he does it... but it's just a good trick.

  • @danbison

@tygersflowerz I don't believe this is real for the same reasons YOU don't believe it's real when a rabbit is pulled out of a hat. Go through all the reasons you don't believe that and we've probably got the same list. Disbelief is the default position here.
