This makes Audrey look even more deluded, thus further worrying Gail, but it also makes Audrey look even more innocent because she's going to such extreme measures. I mean, this is what you call amazing writing. Amazing acting. This is my favorite storyline for a reason. You cannot come up with anything more perfect than this. This was peak Corrie.

    I think it was a combination of both this story, as well as looking after Alma during her terminal cancer and her subsequent death that changed Audrey from a comedy character who was mainly interested in spending money and trying to be a cut above everyone else, into more of a sympathetic character involved in more serious storylines.

    1:20:50 THAT is bonechilling. Such great acting from Brian Capron and Sue Nicholls. Both played their characters so well that you could literally feel for them as if they were a real person. Richard is such the perfect contrast to Audrey. He knows that this will make Audrey look more senile, or if he pushed her into the river by making it look like an accident will do the same. Richard is in a win-win situation, and it honestly terrifies me to watch that scene. It's so terrifying it's excellent!! Again, insanely good acting! I really hope Brian Capron can get more mainstream attention because he makes the PERFECT villain for virtually anything. He deserves more fame!!

  • @98slbrookes98

    I hadn't thought of that actually - he was gaslighting her. I think the writers messed up by having him show some remorse over Maxine's murder as I was so sure Richard was a psychopath - the superficial charm, constant lying, manipulative behaviour etc What he did to Audrey was especially cruel. He should have just sat her and Gail down and told the truth about the finances. They may have been disappointed that he didn't manage the finances better but Gail wouldn't have divorced him for being bankrupt. Being bankrupt is definitely better than being a cold blooded murderer. Even psychopaths know what is legal and what isn't even if they lack empathy. Richard got on so well with that entire family until he started killing - what a waste.

    Yes Brian Capron who I always remember as the friendly Mr Hopwood in Grange Hill was now the villainous Richard Hillman in Corrie. Can't wait to see all the Hillman era episodes again on Classic Corrie on ITV3. Be a while yet though caus they're still on 1997 at the moment. Hillman was 2001 to 2003.

    1:39:25 Archie, seriously?? HE WANTS TO KILL YOUR FRIEND AND SHE IS DOING EVERYTHING TO PROVE IT LOL. My god, can't they see it?? I'm sure I can't be the only one who sees this should be obvious. 1:41:41 This whole monologue is gold. This is why Brian Capron was so good. Believe me this is the best actor that's ever existed. 1:52:16 Again this is genius. Soap hints at a possible massacre happening in mere minutes where Richard kills Gail + Audrey and maybe Archie too (I mean he DID kill Maxine when she walked in; so he wouldn't be intimidated) -- only for it to swerve and not end up happening.

    It was most likely a lie. Coffin chaser wasn’t he? I do wonder if it was the first time he murdered as studies show serial killers start usually in their twenties and he was incredibly ‘okay’ with the murders he committed only vaguely feeling bad for a day or two.

    Corrie has had many bad guys over the years. I honestly think Richard was the worst. His low slowish talking voice, I feel he’d be a perfect horrible monster in a murder movie. I think he’s the worst/ best this show has ever seen.

    He made the mistake of going full hands on and gaslighting her though. He should have played with her how he was doing it before just taking things and leaving things on and let it go from there, she was getting anxious as it was and he just needed to keep prodding. What he did was talking to her and getting into her head it was a fatal error.

  • @CelesticCF

    I mean, it's not hard to put two and two together. The man's been gaslighting her for weeks, and putting that together with their money troubles and her worth when she's gone, there's only one conclusion that you could come to.

  • @emmaclarke2885

    @emmaclarke2885

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@CelesticCF True but it's a bit extreme to jump from "oh they're having money troubles and I'm worth a lot" to "my previously beloved son in law is trying to kill me." Also did Audrey know they had money problems? And she didn't suspect at all that she was being gaslighted, she thought she was genuinely ill. She was in denial but she did think she was going senile. Audrey left the house because she heard Gail and Richard talking about getting power of attorney. Now that would be upsetting to hear but a perfectly normal thing for a family of a mentally ill person to discuss. So I still think it doesn't really make sense and the writers should have had more of a smoking gun. Like with Gail, when she finally figured it out because of the sleeping tablets and the bracelet and Richard's strange comments. It does make sense that Audrey figured it out when she got to Archie's because Richard clearly was considering pushing her into the river when he caught up with her and Audrey could see that
