I have driven a suzuki jimny for ten years, It's an awesome 4x4 it holds its own with the big boys, it as loads of advantages over bigger 4x4 's, it gets into places they can't, shorter wheel Base means it climbs better over ridges, it's lightweight and doesn't bog down as easily as the bigger 4x4', fuel economy it's far better more miles for your money and on tarmac it even out performs most conventional cars it's a legend simple as.

Funny thing, nowadays the old model is quite expensive, and even the 2020 one is also quite expensive.

I've had my 2001 Jimny for 16 years now. It's been in 5 collisions and It is still road worthy. It's a Mini Me HILUX. 😁😎

True story. I’m from the. South Island of NZ and a bloke I know , big burly police sergeant had one for years bashing it around the bush and alps hunting and gold panning...absolutely loved it. No need for a tent and being cheap , didn’t matter if it got a dent or 5.

It's amazing how different he was in that video compare to his first appearance in top gear. Thanks for the upload.

I remember the biker bloke (steve ?) on top gear driving a jimny at 60mph in a quarry, over big rocks and no damage to wheels or suspension. He was well impressed at the quality of the jimny.

After a lot of LRs, I dabbled with one, and liked it - low running costs, competent enough for "real world" off road stuff - rough tracks on the way to walking the dogs, super reliable. If they do have one weakness - the rust proofing underneath is woeful, and doesn't take long to look dreadful - buy one that's been looked after, and keep it well wax-oiled, and wash off any salt from winter driving. Arguably, the earlier ones are better (lower class RFL uk), and less electronics to go wrong.... I gather, in Japan, there's a diesel option - pity that wasn't brought to the UK.

It’s amazing to think Hammond started reviewing cars when he was still back in school.

You'd be surprised how much you can fit in the back of one of these. I went on a week camping trip and took, Gas Stove, 10 Man Tent, Stretcher, 1 Medium/Large Esky, 1 Regular handheld esky capable of holding say a 32pack of drinks?. Camp lights, a single foam mattress for the stretcher, spearfishing gear, sleeping bag, a bag of clothes, gas stove stand. A Tarp. And more (that I can't think of). Oh and 2 small gas bottles.
