Oogly Sproggs It's difference in dialect, not incorrect. Aluminum (no second 'i') is how it's spelled, and pronounced, here. Like, if you type 'aluminium' into an electronic device for North American sale, spell check flags it as a typo (mine just did). Same with the MX-5/Miata thing. Mazda didn't sell MX-5s here. They sold Miatas. Nowhere on a North American Miata does it say MX-5, because that's not what MAZDA (not Americans) called the car for American sale.

Apparently, even after loads of brainstorming and putting scripts together, Clarkson could rock up the next day with dozens more ideas, after laying “awake all night worrying over tiny details and agonising over the smallest point until he’d got it right.”" - from an article written by Richard Porter, a former script editor for Top Gear who walked away when the lads got kicked off the show. Jeremy Clarkson is a writer. Not just a script writer but an author and a well renowned columnist. What on earth gives you the idea that he doesn't write his own pieces?

If you get one thats outside of the US they are great. If you live in the US parts are hard to get as Suzuki pulled out of the American market a long time ago, not many mechanics are familiar with them. The head gaskets tend to blow quite often, even with head studs, not sure how it would hold up with a super charger on it. Rear axle clips are extremely weak and have a tendency to break, entire axle comes out while driving down the road, had 3 of them do this. Used to work at a dealership long long ago

I owned both the Geo Tracker, which the x90 was kind-of-sort-of based on, and the Metro. Both of those are somewhat rare in the US. The X90 even more so. I loved both of them. The Metro was the only way I managed make a 50 mile commute for a minimum wage job actually work out. The Tracker let me do a very fun gig for the US Census that would have otherwise required a big, lifted, off-road vehicle. My Metro's run came to an end when a drunk driver broadsided me going 50+ MPH. It was crushed like a soda can, but I made it out with only some bruises. I appreciate that, because it could have been much worse. The Tracker met it's fate off-roading, which was a fitting end for it. I tried to cross a "puddle" that ended up being 4 feet deep, and it sunk down to level of the hood before getting stuck. After a long walk I found someone kind enough to help pull it out. I was even able to drive it home that day. But being submerged in muddy water for several hours (with the engine still running for much of the time) took it's toll. Components failed one by one over the next few days and weeks, until I had to accept it was done for. Being older now I would not buy either of those cars as a daily driver. But as a second vehicle? Hell yeah!

Actually, the X-90 is the Samurai with a coupe body. and it was (and is) one of the most reliable cars that I have owned. Jack Flash (yes I named him) was my daily driver for many years before I got him lifted and now we go off roading in places the Jeeps can't go. I love my little x-90 and I can assure you that I am not nor have I ever been a hair dresser. Just because a car is small and does not have the horsepower to launch it self into low earth orbit does not mean that it isn't a great car and a really fun ride!

I can only HOPE you are right! I got my 1997 X90 a few months ago, with only 100K on her. I don't think Pansy will last the rest of my life, but I would NEVER choose to drive any thing else again! I've had 'em all. 60's T-birds, 70's muscles, Citroen, Jimmy, Westfalias, pick-ups, 18 wheelers. This girl's got it all! Tows yer other toys, has no winter issue, no summer issue, no parking issue, no gas mileage issue, no threatening electronic nightmare (so far - but I certainly would have preferred manual windows and locks). For marathon road trips, she'll probably just hitch hike on big bro RV.
