Disprove what ? Dawkins needs to educated about the history of Indian Subcontinent. the main reason behind India`s partition were Politicians like Churchill (Not to forget he was also responsible for World War II), Not Religion. they just used Religion as a Tool to divide the masses in order to attain their goals. Even if India was totally Hindu or Muslim, the partition would have still occurred. only this time they would have used Ethnicity or Economic views etc as their main tool of Propaganda rather than faith.

you mean we forget your crimes and take the blame on ourselves so that you get to feel better ? Not gonna happen mate. the world is aware of how evil of an Empire the British Empire was, it is no surprise that so many historians regard it as "THE MOST EVIL EMPIRE". you don`t even know that the country "India" was not existent before the British Occupied south east Asia. it was a cluster of some empires and many kingdoms. it was never a United country to begin with so what in the world are you talking about ? you are clearly unaware of India`s history. Mughal Empire did not walked into South East Asia just like you enter a park. Babur (the founder of Moghul Empire) went on conquering land until he reached Panipath (Present day state of Haryana in India) where he defeated Ibrahim Lodhi the king of Delhi Sultanate (Muslims). yes Babur seized those lands from Muslims because what you don`t realize is that these kings were no different than present day politicians. all they care about is their own power and gains. if you think Mughals walked in India and began ruling parts of it just like that then i suggest you should really look up India`s history before commenting.

And hell is no different from a prison, just harder conditions. If we accept the world system to govern us without questioning the truth of its justification system. Why question God's? Besides to him our existence is no difference than our non existence. Its more of a personal favor. And its not really like ya cookie monster finction, its not scare tactics. Its about loyalty and truth. And most atheist, if you truly track their side of the story. It all ends up by them prefering to go down the path of lucifer. Which God does not like. Pride in one's self, like what atheist do. So u are against God, but the way of the devil is more practical to you. They often say, I'd rather go to hell and be with other thinkers. Actually, it was dirty politics that used religious differences to create a drift so large that now Pakistan and India have wars. Both Pak and Indian government have brought their countries to situations so pathetic that they encourage mutual violence among their people so that people focus less on internal atrocities in their countries and more on the threat of war. Think of it: who die in wars? Soldiers. What wrong have they committed? Nothing. A war between two countries isn't a war of evil and good. Contemporary translations sometimes water down the word 'beat', but it is the same one used in verse 8:12 and clearly means 'to strike'. And this has nothing to do with media, the thing about women getting convicted, because they have reported rape is a fact. While I do agree one must not believe everything said in Western media. Aswath Narayanan I disagree. I believe she specifically mentioned my home country Norway as an example, where women also have problems. Sure women also have problems in Norway but not remotely on the scale of India, Bangladesh etc. It simple strikes me as dishonest to make that comparison. Also I don't think this is a question of economics. The situation of women vary a lot depending on culture. It is particularly bad in any muslim country regardless of economic development. E.g. I read with interest some comments from Chinese immigrants to Egypt. Of all things they chose to point out about the country, it was the bad treatment of women they highlighted. And it is not like China is anywhere close to gender equality. Yet even to Chinese, Egypt was terrible.

"Religion is not the problem. People are." That would perhaps be a compelling idea if our religions would not be so unpleasant in its core teachings. But as a matter of fact, many religions have some very corrosive teachings. Sometimes, these teachings become core beliefs, which influence other beliefs, which in turn influence action. Evil teachings inculcated into children will eventually lead to evil acts. "Islam is no better no worse than any other religion so i don't understand why people keep tearing it apart!" Of course Islam is worse that some other religions. Look at Jainism, for example. There simply are no Jains out there flying planes into buildings, performing clitoridectomies, "arranging" forced marriages, or honour raping girls of their own kin. There reason for this is that there is no scriptural canon, nor any established "theological" tradition prescribing or justifying these horrid practices. The idea that "ALL RELIGIONS ARE EQUALLY GOOD" seems to be a popular, politically correct _meme_ rather than a cogent, well-substantiated thought. I'd like to hear back from you - I've heard many people _claim_ that all religions are equally good, but I've never heard/read anyone try to _substantiate_ the notion.

Are you saying there was a huge government conspiracy involved? Is that what you have to resort to in order to defend Islam from you own condemnation? Is this the lie you tell yourself so you can sleep at night? I don't need to refer to 9/11 to condemn Islam. Even if we to assume that 9/11 had nothing to do with Islam, which is absurd, Islam is still a great evil in the world. *"Evil can be found in every religion and not just in Islam."* I acknowledge that. I think the world would likely be a better place if all religions were to disappear. However, there are differences in _how much_ evil is found in different religions. It just happens to be the case that the Islamic world is one of the most backward, desolate, repressive parts of the world. This is not a coincidence - it's _because of_ Islam. *"Don`t let the brainwashing mainstream media make you believe otherwise. The media is controlled by these same assholes. Also, Norway is an abysmal comparison to these third world countries. In Norway, women know that they have actual rights, not just on paper, which means that they are far, far more likely to report domestic violence. In Bangladesh, if your husband hits you, what are you going to do? Tell the authorities? To what avail? Does anyone actually believe that the case will ever see justice? To top it off, Bangladesh has Sharia Law for the Muslim population, which is over 90% of the population, and guess what? Husbands are allowed by law to hit their wives if they do not obey them. What is the wife going to say in court? That she wasn't hit lightly enough? She is living in denial.

Till 1930 most of the Muslims thought India won't become free, and that they would be better under British rule. However, after the arrival Mahatma Gandhi, the scene changed. Under his leadership the freedom struggle become a mass movement, in this Muslims also participated with a guarantee that after independance Muslims problems would addressed separately. All the Hindu leaders Gandhi, Nehru, Patel accpted because everybody wanted colonial rule to end.

Not really. Gandhi wanted Mohammad Ali Jinnah as the President of India. Jinnah came forward with his 6 points and guess what? NEHRU rejected it. Nehru was power hungry, Jinnah was never for the two nation theory until the VERY end at which he saw Nehru didn't like muslims. In fact AFTER partition he was asked if some country were to attack India, which country would Pakistan support? He answered: India When asked why? He answered: Blood is thicker than water. As a Pakistani, I think what happened is good for us. However, the political elite of India were Hindus who DIDN'T want muslims to be in parliament because we had ruled India for centuries and couldn't stand the fact we'd still be a strong force in parliament. It was your Hindu leaders' fault. Had they accepted the six points there'd only be India today. Partition would not even have been thought in school and the two-nation theory would be laughed at by muslims and hindus of the Indian subcontinent, in fact it wouldn't even have been thought in school and would've most likely not even thrived through the test of time.

To claim to be a scientist and be religious at the same time is a contradiction. One is having 'faith' and the other is having empirical evidence; they are mutually exclusive; one negates the other. The sun cannot be in the sky and not in the sky at the same time.

It's great when religion is the excuse for doing good service to our fellow man, but that's not always what happens. Too frequently religion is the excuse or justification for doing some very bad things.

Dawkins actually didn't impress me at all in this interview, if he wanted to "tear her a new one" then he should've mentioned how the Koran has so many verses that are extremely sexist and harmful to women, so that if her country really does treat women equally then that's because they ignore certain parts of the Koran. And to take it even further, if she really wants to help end domestic violence and stuff like that then she was obviously lying in the beginning when she said that she didn't find any contradictions between her religion and other aspects of her life.
