I get what you mean, but using long loaded responses give you options to do alot of subtle things that could impact different manuevers that happen behind close doors. You can seed information within your responses to influence other teams to make decisions. You can cause others to speculate, just like the media is doing now. And also doing this creates a rapport of responsiveness with the media, which can impact the way they report information from your team. It’s alot of high brow politics that aren’t important to a fan, but is to the media & front office realm.

Well, you could throw a ridiculous’invite them all’ party, so that no one realizes you’re actually looking hard at #4-6.

Makes sense to me. Drake Maye seems like a boring pick of a guy that probably has Jared Goff upside if the pick hits. Drake Maye is the high upside guy that people salivate over and may be willing to trade big assets for. If Daniels wasn't in this draft, would you take three #1 picks, plus a couple of other picks for Drake Maye's spot? I would consider it. Would you take it for Jayden Daniels knowing his upside and how the fans would hate you for the next decade if you traded the pick? Probably not.

@@aznnp77 Goff's arm doesn't compare to Mayes, and Maye is taller and more athletic. Goff is a bad comp. Maye is 21 and has accuracy issues, mostly related to foot work, which can be coached. Daniels had 1 stellar season out of 5. Taking Daniels is the bigger risk IMO.

As a Washington homer, I thought we were set on taking Maye a couple of months ago, but figured there could be some intrigue into Daniels because of his stats. He had 10 TDs and 10 INTs in 13 starts his last (third) season at Arizona State. Did coaching really do that much for him ?

development did a lot for him... he was still in college, all these guys have struggles, the point is how they evolve through college... everyone going back to qbs earlier years and weighing them down for it seem to just really want a reason to be worried

@@aaronbreeds758 I would factor in development if it didn't take him 4-5 years to show a productive season. If he was a freshman or redshirt freshman, than sure. Growing pains. But after their Junior year of college is when most elite QB prospects leave school early for the NFL draft. The PAC-12 has one of the worst defenses of the power 5. USCs backup QB just threw 5 TDs in the first half of the bowl game. Jayden Daniels threw 10 TDs in 13 games. That's concerning that unless we have some offensive genius in our coaching staff (Dan Quinn is a defensive guy), that this guy is not gonna have the tools to floruish,.

Everyone tripping about these 30 visits. Has anyone ever thought that Washington already knows who they are taking and thought there is no point in bringing individual players in only to waste time? That makes sense if you think about it. Just get them all together, watch their projected guy during this process, and get ready for the draft. The media just can't leave our team alone. Sheesh..

Media always portrays us in a negative light. For once, we're having a productive off-season yet the only coverage is about Jayden Daniel's agent or why it's bad bringing prospects into the building together (a normal thing). Hopefully we get some respect when we start winning. For now, I can't wait until this draft is over so the media can leave us tf alone

Well Rich, Peters has said he basically prefers to sit on the #2 pick and earlier said he is looking for day 1 starters. That being said, you can close the book on Maye. May has outstanding talent, but he will need some work before he starts. That leaves Daniels as the #2 pick.

This fad of going to 5' 10' middle school size QBs won't last. Bryce Young is a nice player but just too small, he won't win. Mahomes, Allen, Herbert types are just the way to go.

I’m convinced the “4 QB” interview tactic by Peters was brilliant. It was simply a test for Daniels in light of his previous wavering behavior. Is he going to be truly committed to the Commanders or is he going to listen to Butler and others, and possibly try to jump ship and insist on a trade after the draft? As a Commanders fan, I don’t trust his team loyalty. Plus he’s just too thin. I would trade the pick and go after Maye (whom Quinn loves) or JJ (proven loyal winner).

In the defense of Ditka, IF Williams lived up to the hype it was a good trade, Clearly the guy was a bust. But THAT is the draft, which is why, unless it is a Payton Manning, or Patrick Mahomes (who many thought was a risky pick, I personally did not), do NOT trade up to chase talent that probably is not even there. Look at Mr. Irrelevant for the Niners. Purdy shows you can find your QB anywhere. HALF of the franchise QBs in the league ALL TIME were NOT first round picks. Stay where you are and fill the biggest need with the best talent available.

i would want to work with o'connell not kingsburry. he is mr. collapse. plus the vikes got a better support, organization overall. if i am daniels, i tell my agent make it sure i dont want to go to the commanders.

Jayden Daniels isn't a lock at 2 he is pissed at the Commanders and from multiple reports one from his agent their camp is pissed. I think Commanders pivot to Drake Maye or McCarthy for this reason. Also to add more fire at some point the Commanders now GM told Daniels earlier in his college career that Daniels would at best be a 5th round pick. Both of them have elite talent drake with the rifle of an arm and physicality you want. jayden with his lightning speed and smoothness in the pocket its tough to say which one is gonna be better it will ultimately come down to the intangiblesl I think Washington is taking as much time as possible to make this decision theres no need to rush.

Jeremiah is incorrect. Everyone knows that the Commanders are picking a QB, it doesn’t matter if it’s Daniels or Maye, it will be one of those two players. Therefore, the draft doesn’t start with the number 2 pick.

I watched (on T.V.) the Skins Dolphins in 1973, then I was hooked on Washington, we lived in PG County, Upper Marlboro. Stuck with them in the seventies, celebrated in the 80's and '92 and into the first Snyder years. Realized Snyder was garbage and had to let them go, the relationship had soured. Oh well. I still have Skin memorabilia, programs from the few games I was able to attend, one in 1976.

No way that the Pats don’t take Drake Maye! He’s the best fit for The Pats and extremely consistent and coachable. Mayo needs to get a pair of stones and do whatever it takes to get Maye. By Far this what the fans want by overwhelming numbers. Tough/ strong arm and smart. He’s the son of a coach and from a family that is filled with amazing athletes. Geaux Pats

True. Howell was not that bad, but it's hard to say how good he could have been with good players around him. It takes more than a great qb to win.

The smartest thing they could do is draft Joe Alt and keep whoever they draft next alive. Jayden Daniels reminds me of Dwayne Haskins already.

LMAO aside from being black they are nothing alike. If you haven't watched the tape maybe keep your opinions to yourself. The only thing that scares me about Daniels is his RG3-like running style. For the love of god just fucking slide. Daniels is the best QB in the class. Chicago can take the mental train wreck that is Williams and have fun with that three-ring circus. Maye is 50/50 on literally every throw. You can't have a guy who throws a dime and then a pick or airball every other pass in the NFL. The only reason he's so high is because of his physicals. Scouts and Media members pick one person every year to completely ignore tape on and drool over his "Potential" That is Maye this year. "He can throw it 70 yards? Never mind years of tape of mediocre QB play" Does anyone remember Trey Lance? How about Dontari Poe? How about John Ross? All guys who flashed physical attributes and everyone over night forgot they were mediocre players.

jayden daniels: -is skinny and does not protect himself when he runs -was completely mediocre for 4 full years as a starter until magically breaking out as a 5th year senior with 2 pro-ready first round receivers at his disposal -even in his breakout year, some of the production that won him the heisman was artificially inflated, such as statpadding in the 4th quarter against georgia tech when the game was already way out of hand -highly questionable ability to throw over the middle of the field i understand that rich desperately wants to ve proven right about the rumor he heard at the combine, but i firmly believe that he was sold a false bag of goods. maye was deservedly seen as 1b to caleb's 1a for most of the year until everyone fell in love with a fresh, flashier new toy. but the pendulum might be swinging back around, and it's starting to get reflected in the betting odds as well. daniels' lead as the favorite to go 2nd overall recently almost completely evaporated i will probably get clowned on because daniels has fervent dedicated fans, and i will readily admit it if i'm proven wrong, but both my eyes and my gut tell me that maye will both be drafted ahead of daniels and have a more successful nfl career
