    Couldn't agree more. Nobody is mentioning the fact that Penix is the ONLY QB to drop back, look away (the defense) and him to come back and sling it. Perfectly each time. Glad Rich saw it! He was injured for the championship game and it didn't come out until afterwards because he's not trying to look like a B.

    I cannot believe that the National Media and ESPN is so late to the Michael Penix party. It will be interesting to see where the best passer in the draft ends up going. He literally CARRIED that Washington Husky football team to a National Championship game. Their defense was not even top 25, so that should tell the story. How and why you all chose to look away from him had to be because of the disrespect to the Pac 12. Penix should have won that Heisman. He not only had the stats, but his team was undefeated, unlike the 3 lose player that won it. Not sure how often you see that, where records don't matter? Should be interesting now to see if he continues to be knocked down from the 1st, or 2nd quarterback off the board, or if Jerry will be smart enough to put a Star on that boys helmet???? Yeah baby!

    Those knee injuries might've been the best thing for Penix's development. I've been saying for a couple years now that Stafford and Rodgers are the last great pocket passers we'll ever see because of how mobile the new genereation is, but Penix might prove me wrong.

  • @dawgpost90

    @dawgpost90

    2 ай бұрын

    Stafford and Rodgers were not pocket passers. They were mobile, could throw on the run, and extend plays. What do you define as a pocket passer?

  • @leehurst172

    @leehurst172

    2 ай бұрын

    @@dawgpost90 I'd define it as lacking a vertical running threat. Of course QB draw and the improvised "it's man coverage and I've got thirty years of grass in front of me" plays will exist with everyone, but I don't think QB run-option was ever in the playbook for Stafford or Rodgers. I'll admit I haven't watched their entire NFL careers, but, in any of my passing attention, I was never struck by their speed. Allen is the Bills' RB1 almost, Mahomes and Jackson speak for themselves, Burrow/Tua/Lawrence/Herbert can run QB option. It's going to be interesting to see how the playstyle of these guys develop as they age -- Russell Wilson might be an interesting test case in that regard. Current Burrow might be my weakest example here but the spread concepts he showed off at LSU definitely aid the argument. Bottom line is we're still several years away from making true assessments of any of these players and I very well could be proven wrong by then, but Stafford, Rodgers, Cousins, Flacco, and Carr all hail from the days of traditional quarterbacking, and I think there's been a distinct shift in the last decade where that type of player has become *nearly* extinct.

They did get away with several holds on offense and defense (zero were called- ZERO) but I don’t think it would have changed the outcome of the game but would have made it close down to the wire. That would have been more fun for everyone to watch. Just call 2-3 of those early to set the tone and the game changes.

    Agree on the beautiful balls, BUT going through the Penix tapes I see some weird mechanics, upper and lower body not in sync, no second reads, ignoring the corners, slow decisions on clear routes, uncomfortable if not in the pocket, overthrowing, not managing the clock,… So all in I am not too impressed 🤷‍♂️

    Penix was great but who the hell was that receiver that let deep ball hit the ground? Packers cross him off the list that was crazy.

    It’s not accidental. They don’t want to feature him. The narrative is set

    Pittsburgh Steelers better draft this kid if he’s available at #20. Been saying it for over a year!

    But yet espn does not have him in the top 5 qbs as draft prospects… even though He is the qb that’s most NFL starter ready.

    Your point about JJ is exactly why the Bears won’t take him. They don’t seem to understand what winning is.

    It feels like with his age, the lack of mobility because of the injuries and the quirky throwing motion he won't get rated just on how good a passer he is. Could be a Peyton Manning/Phil Rivers hybrid if it all pans out right though....

    Hope the New Orleans draft one of qbs, because Carr is bound to get injuried, since he holds the ball forever, man another roller coaster year

    It means absolutely nothing, just like every mock draft, player prediction, and other attempts to look into the crystal ball and tell the future. Here's the cold facts: of the #1 and #2 picks, one WILL be an abject failure. For everybody else, you're not really gonna know what you have until about the 3rd year of their NFL career. And about once every five years or so, a Tom Brady or other unicorn pops up to snatch the entire league by the throat and shake it till all the money falls out. And there is absolutely NO way to accurately predict who is gonna be Tom Brady 2.0 and who is gonna be Johnny Manziel 2.0.

    I like Michael Penix. Dude is gonna be top tier, but his injuries is what concerns me, but I would take a chance on him. I would love for the giants to take him at 6
