I worked with Hulk on a WWE video game commercial a few years ago and when he first came out we saw that he was walking very slow and was clearly in some pain. So I said “ Hey are you ok there Hulk?” He said “ Brother - I’ve been in pain ever since I slammed Andre!” He was just completely cool and friendly to all of us who were working that day and it was something we still talk about - and won’t forget. We’d worked on lots of shows and movies with plenty of major stars But seeing Hulk Hogan come walking out there - complete with all his Hulkamania gear - really made us all feel like little kids again! It’s sad that all that work they did and all those bumps they took for our entertainment has caused them so many injuries and so much pain as they got older, but I guess when you do that night after night - it was probably inevitable. But these older Wrestlers from back in the day like Hogan and Flair should know how much we really appreciate what they did for us - and how grateful we are for all the fun we had watching them as we grew up!!

What I appreciated hearing was someone finally mentioning the name of "Jerry Blackwell"! FINALLY.. Thank's Ric 👍 A an entire segment needs to be done about "Jerry Blackwell". I seen Jerry wrestle many times and he was a heel, but you could not help but respect the man's wrestling abilities. He worked hard. His "trademark" was really the "standing drop kick" which he could do on much taller wrestler's. The back over onto the mat move that Ric recieved was used as a "finisher" whether Jerry won or lost the match. Ric will never forget it. 👍 It was simply amazing. Ric mentioned that Jerry was around 400 pounds, perhaps at the time he and Ric wrestled. However, I clearly remember the ring announcers introducing Jerry the majority of the time, as follows. Quote "Hailing in from Stone/Stoney Mountain, GA at weight of 468 pounds". Unquote. That was usually under Verne Gahnga's organization, Mean Gene, AWA, All Star, etc. I ran into Jerry at the mall in Duluth, MN once. ❄ He was wearing a hat, sunglasses and a long black leather trench coat, low profile looking. However, I knew it was him. I seen him in the locker room once after some drunk "Dakota" cowboys broke the door off one night trying to get at the heel's. He never even got up out of his chair, just sat there in a towel, brushing his hair and beard after his shower. 😀 The cops hauled the drunk cowboys away. Jerry and Mad Dog Vashon would get pretty brutal at times with each other. Mad Dog was always like a piece of iron, but Jerry had a line he usually stayed behind unless it got ugly, then he would get vicious. Jerry was a great performer. 👍👍

He also claimed that he killed Andre with that body slam . He said it gave Andre so much internal damage that he died 3 days latter. Except there is one big problem with this claim and that is the fact that Andre died 6 years after the WM3 match with Hogan so any clamor Hogan makes regarding the body slam of Andre is suspect. He also claim he was the first to slam Andre even though there is video of Andrw being slammed many times before Hogan did. Claiming he killed Andre with that slam is one Hell of a lie to tell. I have seen Hogan also used a cross arm breaker and a brainbuster when he worked in New Japan in the very early 1980s. A behind the scenes video that was created back in the (90s?) revealed some of the secrets of Pro Wrestling. The video includes the ring itself and how it uses thick matting and the center spring used to create the "bounce" when someone hits the mat. I don't think that the video mentions it, but I remember finding out that there are loose sheets of plywood underneath the matting as well. But even with all of that, getting tossed around and pummeled on a nightly basis takes its toll after a while. 🙁

But these older Wrestlers from back in the day like Hogan and Flair should know how much we really appreciate what they did for us - and how grateful we are for all the fun we had watching them as we grew up!!

yes!!! pro wrestling was a work of art. all the pieces were very simple but really sold the story
I'll never forget these wrestling legends. Loved watching & going to the shows in the 80's & early 90's! Peace & Health Brothers

My grandpa, who was a fighter in the military, in 1983 took me to the West Palm Beach, Auditorium, to see you fight Barry Windham, where unfortunately he defeated you for the WWF title. I couldn't believe that you lost and that the title changed hands in West Palm Beach, lol!!!! Right on! We actually were in a box together one night in Raleigh, N.C. at a hockey match where you Wooooo'd at one of the intermissions. Thanks for all of the great childhood memories and entertainment and drama and fun fun fun.
Thanks for the channel and content Ric! I saw you overseas in Al Udeid AFB Qatar in 2004 right after I left a war zone. Had a beer with you, it was great! Praying for Hulk.
Saw Rikishi at a local indie show a few years back. He told fans after his match to make no mistake about it. The REAL opponent in the match is...wait for it...the ring itself. It causes more long term health issues than any wrestling opponent ever does.
I watched wrestling from 91-2005. I'm 39 now and don't watch any wrestling but love listening to the legends I grew up watching. 🙏🤙🏼👊🏼

2010, I read in a Men's Health magazine of an article about Hulk Hogan. He mentioned that his back has never been the same since body slamming Andre The Giant. It is important to understand that those wrestling rings do not feel like a bed mattress... Cheers and respect to the Nature Boy and the Hulkster! 💪

So I am not so sure about his claim that slamming Andre Started his back issues.

@Dan Fors The Axe Bomb. It's more like an upright forearm or flat of the elbow. He used it on Nick Bockwinkle once, and Nick took one of the greatest bumps ever. Nick made it look like he was hit in the head by a shotgun blast, bumped, and sold it like he was dead. I have seen Hogan also used a cross arm breaker and a brainbuster when he worked in New Japan in the very early 1980s. He was never Jack Brisco, but his style was more technical than when he worked in the AWA and later in the WWF. A Japanese wrestler in All Japan, Takao Omori, uses the Axe Bomb or Axe Bomber, as one of his finishing moves.

I love Ric Flair and my wife waited on him at a Waffle House in Daytona Beach Florida back in the early 2000’s and said he was a very humble and nice person and she had no clue who he was until a coworker asked if she knew who she was waiting on and told me when she got home and I told her that was my childhood wrestling FAVORITE! RIC IS WRESTLING in its human form!
I grew up at a child watching both WWF and JCP/NWA. They were so different from each other, but I loved both. It wasn’t a competition to me then. Hogan was king in the WWF for me, and Road Warriors, Dusty, Magnum, and RnR were tops in JCP. Looking back I see how awesome Flair/Horsemen were, along with the Midnights, Koloffs, Freebirds, Heenan, Piper, Sheik, etc. at getting heat. Amazing stuff.

Yep, the early '80s pro-wrestling explosion and the 2 biggest names: Nature Boy Ric Flair and the Incredible Hulk Hogan.
Love Ric Flair ,..always has been and always will be my all-time favorite..!. I always love seeing the interviews and such with all the og's.. to hear how they talk about each other with such high regard and respect.. to hear them talk about the their relationships with each other inside and outside of work for so many years they really are truly friends.. love them all and appreciate all that given of themselves over the years...💜✌🏻.,.WWOOOOOooo !!!!
Ric was laughing like he found His Precious.
They don't call him the immortal for nothing
Besides all his physical wear and tear- his family- especially his son and that car accident where his friend was severely damaged was very emotionally stressful!😣
The song "The Winner" by Bobby Bare, comes to mind. Nothing is won without cost. Long life to you all, hopefully with less pain.
What all we kids looked forward to in the '70s and early '80s, was hitting the sofa with snacks and watching you guys go at it, tryin' to beat the MAN, to BE the man...never HAPPENED! 😆 You STILL the MAN, Ric! WOOOOOO!! 👍👍

Watched Flair since the early 80’s and he has been very entertaining and humorous as well!
When I watched wrestling as a teenager back in the '70s, Hogan became big in the AWA that Verne Gagne owned. That was before the WWF. Even then he talked up his matches so well.
I never understood why that ring had so little give to it. Hulk lost about 4 inches of height due to age and all the surgeries he has had. I am surprised during his historic run that nothing was ever done to make the ring better to land on.

The old timer rocking 2 chains. And the background looks good. Go ahead nature boy!!!
Hogan and Piper got us interested Flair and Big Dust are the reason we became fans
I’ve had seven spine surgeries. Fused cervical & lumbar spine. New respect for Hogan just because he obviously doesn’t quit. I remember Nelson Royal taking me out to his barn and how damn hard that ring was. I think he said it was a ring from the 50’s. Flair is absolutely the PRO WRESTLING GOAT… 4:08

A friend of mine ran into Hogan in a grocery store in Florida, and he posed for a picture with her. Only a nice guy would do that.
I heard an interview with the Hulkster say since he had 24inch pythons, it would have made more sense if his finisher was to drop an elbow on his opponent and save his back. I gotta say though, I loved Hogan's leg drop.
