self serving discussion perhaps ? working back from clients budget and or square footage is lazy inaccurate and very unbalanced to the client. Work by the hour , quote your hourly fee, and indicate how many hours each component for the design can reasonably be expected to take. many architects are reluctant to be this straightforward however s if your divide the schematic design fee by the hourly rate you arrive at sou ridiculous number of hours which are obviously inflated, if not impossible. collaboration ? another term for double billing ?
