rhythm harmonica lesson (chugging on inhales only)

I am using a Suzuki Manji in G (Cross Harp).
How to recycle air and create cool exhaling effects on the draw chord only (Holes 1, 2 and 3) in 2nd position. How to Use a "Ta-Ta" sound with your tongue against your teeth to get a cool snare drum type train sound on the inhale chords and where to breath out and how. Please feel free to make any monetary donations using paypal to: jasonricci1@gmail.com , all contributions are appreciated and NOT ever expected! Thanks so very much for watching.

wow , this lesson is great, I just realised my playing was vastly influenced by not exhaling properly or fully, Instead of exhaling the air I didnt needed I started playing blow notes or chords just to release not needed air. That made my playing very choppy and my ideas limited, oh harp you devil instrument :) thank you Jason you are my hero

Ten years latter i find this teacher just looking around that i might find a way to learn this dang harmonica. At age 71 im still trying . Seams like out of the blue i can play something 0:03 then a day or two latter its gone . What wait where did that riff go i had the other day???? Damn It ! I got started with this frustrating instrument when I was a very young kid you might be too young to know about a cartoon called Alvin and the chipmunks Alvin was a chipmunk and so here’s his brothers but he like me fell in love with a harmonica and he would go around saying all I wanna do was play my harmonica to his human daddy who was Dave the owner of a music studio. Your lesson and how you got into detail showing every step and breaking it down was super good . I will watch n Practice over n over till i get it . I really believe this os what im missing . Sure hope your doing well and still playing . God bless you for this gift Rick Simmons

Hi there. Gosh, I’ve listened to a good few of your videos and this appears to have been one of your former lessons. In your more recent material my appreciation for your rhythmic method of playing wherein, you vocalise in conjunction with the harmonica brilliant. Brace yourself however because undoubtedly you have spent years or should that be decades playing. Now, that’s where sadly I struggle. This by the way is merely an observation from a player who has yearned since the mid 90’s to play rhythmically having first heard Sunny Terry then years later and most certainly very recently I come across you. That says an awful lot about how much I listen to blues music perhaps even how dedicated I am with regards to frequency of practising. I have most certainly been listening to an increasing amount of those highly skilled harmonica players who pass on those hard won skills freely to the likes of people like me. So, I extend my humble thanks to you and your peers. Getting to the crook of my perhaps unreasonable request is this, is there any chance you may in the future do 2 things? The first is that your playing and skill level is so out of this world and second nature to you that describing your method, technique etc is very clear in your mind and indeed to those like myself who are quicker of the mark. Sadly, I’m probably one of the very very few who needs spoon feeding. Thus, can you peel back what you was primed to record to a level that might appear so basic its unworthy of implementation. I ask this should there be others out there like myself who are slow at picking up what is being instructed but perhaps like myself I have had no choice but to learn by ear. This is no excuse for my lack of development with the harmonica but it is a real reason as to limiting tuition material available to those who can see. The other request is with that in mind whilst I cannot say if you use on screen tabs etc have you considered without this instruction how would you articulate the information to get it cross? Right, I’ve said my thoughts and I am really not known for my brevity when I get a listening ear. Regaardless of actioning these observations may I extend undoubtedly the gratitude of many budding harmonica players for your efforts. Even now I’m still typing so I’ll end it here.

At 1:53, you seemed to have this spiritual mini-moment, like just for a second you got lost in the love of even the simplest harp chord; wonderful, especially when you then talked about getting lost at 7:29. As for the lesson itself, I love hearing all the different methods for expelling the amassed air, and sound-wise yours is my favorite so far. P.S. What a great advertisement for the Manji!
