Great video, thanks for posting. Brings back great memories of holidays spent in Rhyl during the 70s and 80s.

Remember the swing boats well, great town to grow up in, not the same now, but they cannot take away the memories 😢

It's really lovely to see Rhyl again as it was in the Seventies. We went there every year, first week of the Potter's Fortnight. Dad driving, Mum navigating up front, and squeezed in the back, my brother and me, Nan, and my Auntie Brenda. A seventy five miles journey and everytime, without fail, we got lost. Usually around Chester, or Onnelly, or somewhere. I loved those holidays in Rhyl though, and have fond memories of the place, and the people. We always stayed in the same boarding house on the seafront about a hundred yards along from Woolworths. I wonder if it's still there? The boarding house I mean, not Woolies. Thanks Richard, btw, I wonder if we're related 👍

Im glad that you have enjoyed the film, I was just wondering if we were related. I was born and bread in Congleton, as was my dad. His name was John William and he did have a son from his first marriage.

@@richardadderley9974 My dad Dennis was born and bred in Jubilee road, Congleton. His dad's name was William. He had an elder brother also called William (Bill), sister Emily and younger brother Harry. All but Harry have sadly passed away, but Harry still lives in Congleton. So it could be that we're related with the Congleton connection, but perhaps from further back generationally, i.e Great Grandfather or something.

@@richardadderley9974 that would make us family! Thanks again for this channel, I'm off to check out the one on Rood Hill, where I still have nightmares about hill starts during driving lessons. All the best Richard 🙏

1973 was the year when Holiday on the Buses was filmed in Rhyl and nearby Prestatyn.

Wow. This brings back some memories. We used to go on the swing boats at uncle erics every time we went on holiday to rhyl when we were younger. Are you going to upload any more footage. I take it you took a lot more footage with your video camera. There's not enough old footage of rhyl on youtube.
