🏉Rhondda & Welsh rugby coach legend Chris Jones🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

In this video, I chat to Rhondda & Welsh rugby coach legend Chris Jones. He started playing rugby at the age of 11 before going to play for Treorchy RFC where his fearsome reputation was built.
He went on to train Pontypridd RFC in the late 80s for over three years introducing the likes of Neil Jenkins and Dale McIntosh into senior rugby.
After ending up in a police cell in Brecon in 1990, he became a born-again Christian and his life changed dramatically. This included doing charity work in Romania.
After staying out of rugby for a year, he got involved coaching Treorchy during the so-called Dream years in the early 1990s.
Since then, he has gone on to be one of the most successful junior coaches the game has ever seen, winning the Dewar Shield 10 times with Rhondda Schools and developing a host of future regional and international players.

When I was headteacher at Pentre Primary the Treorchy 'Dream Team' was at its peak. Chris visited the school every week and brought some of the players with him. He was a natural with the children and would have made a first-class teacher. Thanks, Chris.
