    I bought this water heater kzread.infoUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 for use in my bus conversion. I installed it under my kitchen sink and it is fed by a high efficiency on-demand LP water heater. It is both a backup hot water source as well as a water saving device since we have hot water on demand rather than having to wait for the gas on demand water heater to finish its ignition cycle. I decided on this water heater due to the fact that it only draws 1300watts when it's ON instead of the 1500 watts that most Water heaters this size draw. In an RV a couple hundred watts can be a big deal. With very low standby losses, I don't have to worry about excessive power consumption. When propane is not available for our gas water heater, in conjunction with our low flow shower head there is enough hot water available to shower, albeit we won't be taking "hotel showers." Also very happy with the recovery rate of this water heater. Granted, it is quite small, but it does exactly what we need it to do.

    Angel, that is great news, but the manufacturers instructions call out for a dedicated circuit for the water heater. They do provide for several water heaters to be connected to a single circuit, providing it does not exceed the rated service load. Thank you for watching.

    Thanks for posting the video. I have had the same Rheem tankless water heater for a couple years now and have not flushed out the scale and lime yet. I am concerned about recirculating the scale back through the pump and coil system. Is there any visible scale left in the bucket after the process? If so, would you recommend placing some kind of screening barrier (i.e. pantyhose filter on the outlet) between the two flows? Also, would a 300 gph submersible fountain pump be sufficient? Thanks again!

    The solution dissolves it, so there isn't a need to do more. At 300 gph we are talking about 5 gpm which for the recommended run time should be sufficient.

    Some additional information from a plumber: 1) The gas tag on the gas inlet is usually just covering the testing port to test gas pressure and most of the time has nothing to do with adjusting or fine tuning the tankless. (At least that’s my understanding with all the training I have gone through. 2) the condensation drain on a lot of those units (not Navien) can be capped like that if they are horizontally vented within a certain distance. They must have a drain attached though if they are vertically vented. 3) Additionally to cleaning out that cold inlet screen you should have the tankless flushed/descaled yearly and if your water is “hard” (has a lot of calcium and magnesium causing scale buildup) you should have a form of water treatment to retain most warranties.

    "WARNING: Do not use the power switch to turn off unit," is this the power button on the remote control that you are referring to? i flushed mine today, i just cut the power at the breaker box without turning the unit first using the remote control. but i didnt see much scale in my bucket when i was done?? my remote and my heater are on the same circuit so when i shut off the breaker, both turn off simultaneously. does that cause my flow to bypass the heating elements?

  • @cfldriven

    @cfldriven

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes it is the power switch on the Remote Control panel. By cutting the power at the circuit breaker you prevented the internal valves from closing, which is a good thing. Had you powered the unit down via the Remote Control panel the internal valves would have closed thus bypassing the tubing in the heat exchanger. I have updated the warning. Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

I can lift the thermal relief valve and it will flow out of that, but not a drop out of the hose side. Do you need to have the hot water running in your house when you kill the power to it to keep the internal flow control valve open?
