For some reason track & field has never taken off in the USA like it has in Europe. In Europe it is like going to your county fair. It is an all day family event. People fill stadiums to watch track & field. Back in the 70's and early 80's people like Carl Lewis, Dwight Stone, and Renaldo Nehemiah were making $100,000 + in appearance money. Because when these American track & field stars showed up at an event in Europe, then everybody wanted to compete in that event and the stadiums were packed. But in the USA I don't know what percentage of Americans knew who those track & field stars were or what they competed in. How many today could say what those 3 stars competed in. Europeans love their sports. The way they are fanatical about track & field, soccer, and auto racing it is not surprising to me that NFL football is being recieved so well over there. Lookout if NASCAR ever decided to do a European tour. Thanks for the video.
