He’s guessing when the gun is and not reacting to it. It’s physically impossible to react in 0.028 seconds. They’ve done countless scientific studies to justify the reaction time allowance in track being 0.100 seconds. If there is no penalty the athletes would try and guess the start constantly which would lead to delays.

Yeah this race was pretty slow but consider that Afrifah has a PR of 19.9 ran 3 years ago when he was practically a teen, Tortu in shape (and without mental issues like here) he can run 20.0 if not 19.9 as well as Pablo Mateo the Frenchman (20.03 this as SB and PR). So this race was slow but there are 3 men possibly under 20s and the man who won with a potential of 20.1 highs.

There’s only one truly world class 200m runner in Europe and that’s Zharnel Hughes. He was planning to run the 100m in Rome but got injured in Jamaica. The rest of the better guys are in the 20.1 - 20.4 bracket.

@@raybrown10001 Tortu ran 20.10s in semis at Worlds in 2022. He has a 9.99s ran at 20yo and can split an anchor leg with 8.8 lows so he got all the potential to go sub 20 which is his lifetime goal right now. I really hope he goes 19.9 this year in Paris and make the final in which he can play all his cards. And without Hughes he could've won this year at Euros it's all a matter of mindset and energy distribution as he ran 20.14 in semis 🙄.

There has definitely been some leniency on the judges side this year, which has been great actually. However, the German brother knew he messed up, even before they called the restart, he already had his hand up like daaang, I messed up. That lane 9 win is amazing, it's giving the Wayde Van Niekerk effect, haha. Timothé noticed thar he didn't see anybody at his left peripheral view for most of the run, that's when he knew he had a great chance to bag this one. By the time they approach the finish line, even if he could start seeing some color on his far left, he knew that he just had to press as hard as he can just to make sure nobody catches up him upon the finish line, and that's what he did.😅 Had his hand up like yes ain't no way this one is ours.😂😅✊🏾
