+David Jensen Disney has stated that only the movies (the original trilogy, prequel trilogy, new trilogy, and the anthology films like Rouge One), Star Wars: the Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and the comics and books published after Disney bought Star Wars are considered canon. The EU, Ewok movies, and the other cartoons aren't canon anymore.

Probably has something to do with kids and relating to things with faces vs non-facey things. 2D animation is a little less dynamic than live action, so to give the character some of the ... character ... it loses going from live action to cartoon, they might have added the blinking with the idea that it would make the character more relateable. (I'm not saying this is true - either why they did it or that it is right as an idea, I'm just spitballing.)

Probably so that cartoon version of him is more relatable. The real-life still eyes would not transfer well to animation. You'd lose warmth to the look.

The animated sketch from the holiday special... is the best part of the holiday special.

A LOT of things from the JJ Star Trek movies were lifted from the ST animated series, so I find this highly plausible.

In a canon novel, 'before the awakening', Rey had two friends with descriptions similar to haircut and thumbs.

When British people watch Star Wars and hear C3PO and Obi-Wan and other British actors I wonder if there is a difference in how they perceive the characters from Americans. As an American I always noticed Obi Wan and C3PO's British accents and it stood out to me but I imagine to British audience that C3PO and Obi Wan and some of the other British actors like Admiral Piet or Rey ...they must all sound like the normal ones while Han,Luke,Lando,Leia etc...stand out as in sounding American.

No but a lot of american slang crosses over through tv and movies etc. No and I doubt it plays out the other way either. And most americans pick up british slang and accents only if they live in the UK for a long time, like a very long time.

10:25 If they were watching the DVD release of "Droids" (or, knowing Mason, a torrented rip of the DVD release) it's very possible that there was a scene missing, cause for whatever reason when the show was released on home video Fox decided to edit 3-4 episode arcs into "movies" as opposed to just putting out the episodes. As a result some scenes were removed for no good reason.

Of course they're not. Disney has no creativity so they steal characters and storylines from 30-year-old films and cartoons to pass off as their own. If you don't take one look at this cartoon and immediately know that this is where they got the idea for Rey, you're kidding yourself.

This is one of those things that I would never watch by itself but so funny to have narrated by these guys

It's great that the clone wars actually had two episodes that were basically modern remakes of this show. 1st) C-3PO is tortured for information while R2 is just on a spa retreat. 2nd) the two jump from world to world after being separated from the fleet they were with, on a wild adventure while they try to get back home.

That white witch had a very Speed Racer Mach 5 color scheme going for it. Also, when showcasing the similarities to Rei and this girl Kia, I'm surprised you didn't choose to go: Air-quote on the one hand "it's probably just a coincidence" Air-quote on the other hand to signify you're catching it - that you're catching the quote, and it's fun the do; even if it's not aesthetically pleasing, it's still fun to do.

My theory is that 3PO was friends with a similar Astromech droid when he was jettisoned to Tatooine. Then, he was scrapped and rebuilt by Anakin Skywalker.

Imagine a real-life motion picture of this with real anthony daniels falling every time ...and (trying) to launch rocks ...

13:04 My thinking on why someone would just leave a lightsaber is that a non-jedi found it and didn't know how it would be useful, so they didn't bother looking for it when they lost it.

Rey isn't Kea Moll --- she's Ania Solo from the recent comic series Star Wars Legacy: Volume II. White brunette young woman who's probably a member of one of the Original Trilogy's two famous families works as a junk dealer, finds a mysterious Artooesque droid that actually belongs to someone who's currently being held captive by an evil darksider with at least, like, half a mask on his face. That sets her on an unexpected adventure as she meets a young dark-skinned man whose plotline is that hes an Imperial deserter, and they get an old wizened smuggler/courier with a connection to the Solo family to ferry them around in his freighter. Completing the motley crew is the only non-human organic being of the bunch. Then at the end of the story's Act II, the heroes are in deep trouble as they face off against an evil darksider and his forces, but sudden intervention arrives from the forces of the main good-guy organization, led by that same guy who originally owned the droid since he's now escaped from bad guy custody. The Jedi are nowhere to be seen. Then at the end of the story, the heroine delivers an ass-kicking to the main darksider villain and then jets off into the galaxy to meet up with a Skywalker. This is a description of both Legacy Volume II and of The Force Awakens. Seriously.

I got to watch this show back when it aired in my country, I was 10 to 11 years old at the time. It was quite decent but naturally lost to the X-Men & other Marvel cartoons, because Droids was aired way too late here, in the 90's instead of the 80's.

Well, given the fact we have this, Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Ewok Adventures, there's no way Rogue One ends up being the worst Star Wars prequel. #rogueoneisaprequel

Rick Berman McCallum the prequels don't have the same aesthetic as the of trilogy even these not so great cartoons feel more like star wars to me.

Loved watching this in the day... C3PO and R2D2 move on to another owner later in the show. If memory serves me, it was Mondo Bayobob or something like that. They also encounter the rebellion briefly, but for the most part, the Empire / Rebellion isn't really a thing. It does have it's moments, for sure, not sure how well it holds up. This was part of a Star Wars hour of cartoons, the other show was the Ewok adventures, which, although had it's moments as well, wasn't as good (imho) to Droids.

When this show came out me and my friends were the perfect age to eat it up - but man, there weren't many episodes (so many reruns) and we knew the lines as much as any other Star Wars thing. Did you know Boba Fett does make an appearance in this series?! Anyway, then just like now we were hungry for anything Star Wars even though Jedi was pretty recent. So, are you covering any Ewoks cartoons?! :D
