I had the great pleasure to interview Richard Crenna in 1993 for the comedy film, "Hot Shots Part Deux." He made fun of his famous "Colonel Trautman" character from the "Rambo" movies, and describes why those films were so popular. He also talked about his start in the movie business.

He was a class act and terrific actor. I never realized that they were gonna make a Rambo 4 back in the 90’s. Would’ve been nice to see Crenna come back to do Colonel Trautman one more time. But at least he reprised his role in Hot Shots 2 which was funny as hell.
Richard Crenna, great actor
I love his acting in First Blood, especially the last scene when Rambo pours out his emotions. Crenna does not say a word, but look at his facial expressions and demeanor. Like a father listening to his son with compassion.
Colonel Trautman was the best. Especially like the body bags line in the first blood movie.

His role in first 3 Rambo movies is a masterpiece, he is greatly missed, rest in peace Commander Crenna.
