its allways like this... if Kirk take the role maybe you have been write the same...
Crenna has the stuff that Kirk Douglas never could have hoped to match.

You are right about that. This is an amazing movie.
Richard Crenna was the best
Col. Truatman kicked arse. Glad it wasn't Douglas.

second that i do think kirk douglas is a great actor but not for this film
The cast of this movie was absolutely gold. Every single character was a home run. From the deputies to the National Guardsman to the main stars, all were just like I would imagine in real life. And the media saying dumb shit like "...only their law enforcement training saved them..." was a nice touch

Vancouver TV reporter Mike Winlaw essentially played himself.
Best Rambo by far
Trautman was my favorite character in First Blood. No one could have played it better.
Richard Crenna was marvellous ❤

He acted with john candy in summer rental.
I love how Stallone honored our Vietnam vets by saying John Rambo would not die at the end of the movie...Classy move.
Took 19 takes for the billy club across the back scene? 19 takes? Can't imagine how hard acting must be.
By far the best Rambo movie ever!!!!

@kdee8166 mine too great film never a dull moment
I rented First Blood out on VHS so many times back in the day. I have it on Blu ray now. 😊
When I was young I was interested in the character Rambo. But as I got older, I became interested in the role of Col. Trautman. Rambo seemed like a child to me and Trautman like an adult. Who puts everything in order.
My favourite movie and filming location….amazing film
I still remember when I watched this movie in the movie theater back then! Great movie
Masterclass movie
Great line, he'll eat things that would make a Billie goat puke, love it, 😅
Saw this new in the theater as a Junior in High School. It was excilerating to watch. Excellent.
As a kid I watched Rambo 2 never knowing there was a Rambo 1 first blood I guess I just didn't pay close enough attention. One day I was looking and found Rambo First blood couldn't believe I never questioned about 1 or seen 1 and it was like finding Rambo 2 for the first time! Such a shock and a treat! This movie was awesome
It’s such a great movie ,I live in Vancouver. And HOPE is a great little town. But it made that little town. Such a famous place !!!I Pass through there every time I go camping. And I think of Rambo! It’s so cool to think that little town has such a great Movie that was filmed there. 😎😎😎
Rambo Must Die...now THAT should be the final Rambo title in the series.
richard crenna was awesome, just like the movie!❤️
Crenna nailed that role.
One of the greatest movies ever made and will always be.
Of all the things they talked about they skipped the part I always wondered about lol ..The arm stitching scene..lol It looked so real, as he stitched with the blood coming out evenly.. I would love to know how that was done, one of the best special effects I remember seeing in television..
Don't push me. Don't push me ..
Years before I saw this film, I'd completed some US Army training during which we student stayed wet... and accordingly cold... for days at a time. I kept thinking of Rambo there.... wet and cold.
I'm glad they all stick to the original script.
A very good movie. I’m seeing comments about it being on of the best movies ever. Not sure about that, but that’s what makes movies so cool, very subjective.
Best decision changing his character from the book and not making him a crazy violent guy. In the film he's lost in life and a victim of his circumstances as a soldier. The movie humanised him and made you feel for him. He wasn't out to hurt anyone. He was happy to mind his own business as he drifted from town to town. The sheriff was the trouble maker. All the shit hitting the fan was on him.
What a brilliant film. Still resonates now as it did then . Brilliant cast .
Great action movie Great cast
The last movie I saw with my dad.
Great movie, glad that Richard got the part.....
Great movie
It's always interesting to see BTS footage👍💯 First Blood was awesome and 1 of my fave Sly Stallone flicks❤
I want to ask people who lived in 1982 and are alive if they have seen Stallone film his first Rambo movie. Have you seen him on the streets of Hope? Did they greet him, did they treat him, what is the Hollywood star like in person?.
Stallone s solid foundation movie. An epic legend...Rambo.All the cast and all the energy of that movie....was spacetime
The film was the right choice to go with a man of moving on with his Life
I’m glad they didn’t kill off Rambo cause the 4th edition was awesome.
My all time favorite Stallone movie, First Blood. My second favorite Stallone movie is Rocky (first one). I could watch First Blood daily and not get sick of it. Lol!
i love Kirk Douglas! Old school bad ass. So so happy Kirk Douglas did NOT do this movie.
Awesome movie
The novel first blood was a very dark story if it would have been made as it was written by David Morrill it would have been a horrible movie and probably would have never been shown ever again after it's release but Sly Stallone knows how to make a great movie and rewrote it and it became a one of the greatest movies ever but they did do a version like David Morrill wrote and if they were going to use that Stallone wanted to buy back the negative and burn it so it would never be seen again, Kirk Douglas was a great actor but I believe it's best that he didn't do it and Richard creena took the role of tratman, Richard creena was best for the role
If only they could make movies like this now, rather then the overacted unrealistic crap we get today

@barrycrosby8602 - That depends on which films were "overacted unrealistic crap" in any period of time and which ones were not. After all, you shouldn't just assume that all films were "overacted unrealistic crap" anyway.

Hes right all films now are overacted pieces of cgi garbage
awsome thank you
This Movie the most believable even though still hard to believe one man could create so much Chaos.
We Holidayed in British Columbia in 2023. Stunning scenery 🇦🇺
Kurt Douglas WOW! that would of been cool to see him play as Trautman But! Richard Crennas did a Fine Job playing him or else the movie would not all fall right in place
I thought Rambo killed those police officers in hot pursuit of the stolen military truck when he pushed them off the road causing them to explode. 💥

Too bad that the 2nd one wasn't like the first one
Love stallone love this movie but what was incredible about this film was that it was stallones 1st non rocky hit every one thought it would bomb like all his non rocky films( fist, paradise alley, victory, night hawks).
"In town you're the law, out here it's me"
It was a great experience to work on this movie 🎥
Brian Dennehy was one of the greatest actors of all time! He made First Blood the movie it is!
Awesome action movie with a message
Remember yous drew first blood!!!
The exaggeration of cast and crew. 40 below 😂
Richard was right guy 👦 👏 Kirk would have been quite interesting 👍
No one but the late Brian Dennehy could've played Sheriff Will Teasle as well as he did👍💯 What a commanding performance. R.I.P. 😇
Douglas made a boo-boo methinks.... First Blood is one of the great films ever made, the scenery and location being the main character along with Rambo, and Stallone really got me at the end. Music, cast, lighting, editing, stunts!! ... all at the top of their game. A film you can watch every few years and say, 'YAssssss!' 'God didn't make Rambo... I did!'

The book was set in Kentucky but I prefer the movie setting.
All I wanted was something to eat.
If they ever do a remake of this movie they need to make more like the novel. As good as the film was ❤
They needed Doug Kirkless.
Normally I’d prefer the book. But this film excelled and seems hard to imagine it better.
I like to see him finally get something to eat behind the scenes.😋
I love movie and book equally. In the novel, Rambo is a 19-something Vietnam vet with a hippie beard and the sheriff is a Korean War vet. The novel plays out like a bad father-son relationship.
I‘ve had a question for decades… Rambo took the jacket from deputy Galt, but why didn’t he put them on?
Great movie. Other parts were just a money printer.
I saw it in the theatres on the 2nd night of release
I've been in military helicopters flown by the RAAF Americans call them 'Huey', RAAF designation is 'Iroquois'. In the RAAF these machines have the doors permanently removed. You have a rail that you attach a safety harness onto, allows you to have freedom of movement inside to aircraft. When they would do a hard banking turn, you could actually hang out the door opening into space, just held on by your belt. Pretty wild. I'd never want to fall from a helicopter, it's pretty much going to be fatal.
so much goes into making movies
best movie ever, and iv seen tons of em
I've read the book recently but I think the movie was much better. Like he said he didn't kill anyone but in the book he kills as many as he can. Seems more professional like they did in the movie. Great movie also, even if tactics etc is not correct I still love it!
.. behind the scenes? there were no scenes, this was shot all in one take as is
TRIVIA : The cliff jump was done in 3 stages (1) the stuntman lept off the cliff (2) the stuntman was filmed doing the long fall (3) Sly was filmed from the top of the tree dropping to the last branch and cracking a rib ?
Did it for vets....great movie.
40 below zero lol...Live there no way Richard. Its a damp cold so if you get wet you stay cold.
Well done video!
Named my dog Rambo.
It was the first “ Video “ I ever saw .

Redford was the only other serious contender, is my understanding.
Poor Richard Crenna. I thought he seemed a bit ill-at-ease in the earlier shots with him (if they filmed those first shots with him first).
Kirk Douglas wanted to massage his own giant ego.
I wish there was someone there to show actors how to wear a beret correctly.
To eat things that would make a Billy Goat puke!
Incredible cast and much better without Kirk Douglas
Death = no sequels
Crenna was a better choice than Douglas .

Damn right, he did a phenomenal job. Hollywood elites don’t know how to get out of their own way… clowns
Last year. A teasel wood carving has been made and placed on Wallace street , in front of that Police station. The tv reporter was a real tv reporter and worked at CBC television in Vancouver. KVOS tv camera was an actual tv camera KVOS , channel 12 from Bellingham Washington. This tv channel is still on the air and owned now by MeTv broadcast. Head office was moved to Seattle from Bellingham/ Vancouver.
I saw with my own eyes many officers get killed during actions, helicopter crashes a exploded.. I believe Silvester did not played that movie but it was real first blood fare more better that this version, much more exciting events .. sadly can't find it anywhere.. i saw it over 40y ago at Iranian national tv.. is someone else saw that version ?
I live about 45 min west of the town where they filmed 'First Blood'. Hope, British Columbia. They actually have erected a statue of Rambo holding the M60 in the middle of the town. And Richard Crenna is hugely exaggerating when he said is was '-40 with the wind chill'. It's never been even close to that cold there. 🤣
