I always thought that Sid did not have the greatest home life, but this is the first time I realized that the dog was unwilling to even go in the room where Sid's dad is passed out in the chair. Sid's parents seem neglectful from what we see, but why does the dog not even want to be in the same room as the dad?

Did you pick up on what Stef mentioned on how there's empty beer cans surrounding the Dad's chair? That's heavily implying that Sid has an alcoholic father and given how the dog didn't even want to go in the room once it realized the Dad was in there, that could also be heavily implying that he's a violent drunk and sadly, that could also be why Sid has so many locks on his bedroom door

  • @ObserverAmanda

@@oncerand_directioner Yes. I had always associated it with Sid's and his sister's neglect, but, after Stef said that, was the first time I thought about it concerning the dog and what that could imply about possible abuse rather than just neglect in their household.

Even without the knowledge of the toys being sentient, Sid is still a psycopathic kid, jumping around on Pizza Planet machines when he's not winning, setting off explosions in the backyard that not only are loud and shake the ground but could cause damage to neighboring houses. not to mention the fire hazards, and stealing his little sister's toy doll and replacing its head with a pterodactyl head and scaring her. These are not the actions of a normal pre teen boy

Haha I love how Sam completely forgot how Woody an the other toys start talking to Sid and scare the shit out of him. That would be very traumatizing indeed. And I think the reason why Buzz wanted to fly out the window is because he was still in denial and he wanted to prove to himself that he’s actually a space ranger and not a toy. There’s not much in the movie to support this argument but that’s just the way I see it because I feel like finding out something as big as that would take a while to process and come to terms with. But yeah a great movie and franchise! Completely changed the animation industry.

As an AuDHDer, totally understand the issues with visual processing Steph was talking about. It especially happens in familiar environments, where your brain processes kinda what it's "supposed" to look like instead of what it actually looks like and just blocks out what isn't supposed to be there. It happens to drivers too, it's why people in cars often still hit motorcyclists who are in CLEAR view, cause without their consent, their brain decided the visual information of this small fast moving object was insignificant compared to everything else around them and just didn't process it. It affects how I see my environment as well to a point where I don't see mess? What helps me see it is of I catch the reflection of my room in the mirror or I accidentally open my camera/see the rest of the room through a camera and I just go "oh." (side note, as a kid, I hated this movie cause I hated Woody 😂😂)

When my Mom couldn't take it anymore, she decided to take out all of our VHSs, and mix the tapes on the ground. She basically told me that if I could find the tape, we could watch it. Exactly! Yah we are not supposed to use them in city limits but do we actually listen to those rules? No lol it’s enforced kinda like littering, if a cop sees you doing it or you get caught you are fined but if no one catches you it’s not like someone can start a case against you for suspicion of using them you have to be caught in the action or with illegal fireworks.

Thanks so much, we appreciate that 😊 Honestly, doing this kind of thing can be difficult, but if you do decide to start, I don't mind giving you some tips when the time comes. As for the movie choices, only she's the man and step up would work for our channel and they both have copyright issues we don't really want to deal with (due to the production companies being Universal and Dreamworks) - Sam

Great review. As for sleeping positions both my brother and sister would wind up in Sid's odd sleeping position almost every night. Supposedly, I slept that way as a toddler but grew out of it by the time I was 4 but my siblings were doing it up to middle school. And my step-daughter slept in even odder positions right up to high school. When I saw it in the movie I laughed out loud cause it runs in my family, lol. Guess we're kinda odd. Amazing how we were so impressed with this movie when it came out and now the animation looks goofy. But the details on the toys of my childhood and how they would move that way if they were sentient was incredible at the time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

You know, in another movie Sid would have gone to become an engineer or sculptor or something like that. The kid had a good eye for creating creepy stuff, and for all he knew he literally was just a kid playing with toys that were meant to play with. Like, here in youtube there is plenty of channels that are literally all about destroying old toys in order to make something new. The kid just needed som parental guide and maybe someone who taught him to use his violent impulses for good.

28:52 - So, I don’t think either of you remember the ending. I have watched all 4 Toy Stories. Zurgs identity is revealed in #2 and it is NOT BUZZ. 😂- actually all 4 of these films are extremely consistent and show amazing character growth. It is EXTREMELY rare to hear that someone didn’t like the ending of any of the films 😂
