You did a remarkable job I always love seeing a piece of History restored back to a condition where it can be displayed with pride the only thing I wish you hadn't done was put a bolt through the front of the barrel because that does hurt to value a little bit not many collectors want to see that kind of stuff but other than that you did a remarkable job

It also completely depends upon where he lives and what the laws are. All of us in America don’t understand making a weapon completely unusable. He also ground down the firing pin. If he lives in a country like England or Russia or Germany than odds are he cannot own a firearm.

This is not a restoration. It's a replica. For what it is, he did a pretty good job. Except for its looks, it doesn't have any collection value. It's a nice wall hanger. No one in his right mind would attempt to fire it even if he hadn't pinned the barrel and ground off the firing pin.

In Germany for licencefree ownership also the mechanism must be welded. Newest gunlaw causes, that you get in trouble, when you own a deactivated gun, deactivated after a standard of may be 1970s.

this has to be the worst condition on a pistol before you restored it to near its former glory, but with a great historical story of the imperfections caused by time on its surface. great job. it’s a shame you had to bolt the barrel shut and decrease the value by quite a bit, though.

Why "164 years" ? I would be curious to know what made you decide this gun was buried since so many years... This pistol is clearly inspired by the French 1858 Lefaucheux, but it isn't a Lefaucheux. The original 1858 didn't fire this type of cartridges, though the later models from the 1870's did. The barrel was longer and it wasn't blued, among other details. It is more than probably a Belgian manufacturing from around the 1880's, quite a number were made then. Good job anyway, though your gun still lacks an ejection rod.

Probably not as old as suggested. The hammer is for centerfire ammunition as is evidenced by the cartridges in the cylinder. It is not “rim fire” or “pin fire” either. Not an authority on period revolvers but it is probably somewhere between 1870 and 1900. Several French, Belgian, and English revolvers may be candidates. The revolver has not been restored and has little or no collector value. Drilling the barrel was completely unnecessary. Having said all that, I can appreciate many of the other projects.

Great video, but there were no double action revolvers 164 years ago. Looks like an 1870's-1880's Webley, and I'm probably wrong. What i do appreciate is that you did not decommission the gun by blocking the cylinders and removing the firing pin. That woke nonsense obliterates the value of such a relic, as it was tainted by the woke madness of today. What did you block the muzzle with that screw for. For hanging?
