My childhood hero, the one who first made me find my place in the gym and of course she was under the tutelage of another sick and despicable man. It's comforting only that unlike him, the world will never forget her. Her name will live forever. Thank you for sharing this.

An incredible woman. She raised money for Chernobyl children. She will always be my favorite. We loved her soul! I saw her when she performed at Madison Square Garden when I was a kid. Enchanting. Truly special. Of course she’s telling the truth that her coach raped her. Fits his personality and she has no reason to lie about it. Very sad for her. I hope the best for her.

I wonder if they did give Korbut drugs to delay puberty and if so what drugs? Of course extreme exercise and calorie restriction will also delay puberty. So I wonder which one or both? Her hair and teeth did not look healthy at the time. Korbut is an absolutely AMAZING athlete and incredible and beautiful woman. An old soul. I believe her...... and I'm not excusing him when I say that the stress of competition may have been a factor in doing what he did. Why would she lie? Because he moved on to train other younger gymnasts? Doubtful to me. Anyway they obviously had a VERY intense relationship.....whatever happened.

So much in this documentary. FINALLY that lady admitted to the fixed medals; we knew this was happening. Okay. Next. How about this, did you ever take medications? Somehow NO ONE admits to taking “drugs.” And sex. Wow! One part of me questions why the coach would risk having sex with her RIGHT BEFORE THE OLYMPIC competition, REALLY??? But I would NEVER doubt that the coach would sexually use her. He controlled her. Having sex with her exercises his power and control over her.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. The abuse certainly continued, it's only due in part to ratting out your predator becoming en vogue, that that "secret" in the industry was confronted publicly & prosecuted and others have also aired their own and named names of the accused. Progress is too slow in my opinion. Abuse is still not taken seriously or done much about by those who's job it is to protect and bring justice. This was a fabulous documentary, I thank my lucky stars people share them on here for those of us who care to see a glimpse of that golden era. There is also her other film, from 1973, made in Russia with the most beautifully scored music. It's really charming* where as this one is sort of expose` style, seedy tell all behind the scenes the hidden hells of Russians athletic legends. So depending on the mood, take your pick. I think the older one where they documented her after she'd won in Russian, is very sweet to see during that very period.

Oh the denial & Minimizing of abuse for the men’s self decided that they 20:14 were “entitled” gratification .. Sadly it’s gone on for forever.. many women of older age just had to accept sexual harassment etc as part of life, work life. It should have been included in job descriptions really, I’m a senior citizen & worked all life , in many different jobs over the years , only ONE job out of many, didn’t include sexual harassment etc. only one, Remember, Olga achieved SO MUCH, when all the while she was putting up with some man’s shit as well. (Of course not all men are this way, but back in the day, many men just automatically assumed it was their given privilege.. )

I agree these Soviet gymnasts are beautiful people, but such Soviet gymnasts were beautiful people because so many people were beautiful around them. They had wonderful upbringings - not the same values of cherishing property as our own, they cherished other things like education and cooperation, but wonderful nevertheless. Our view towards USSR is completely twisted from our Cold War (this border and our economic sanctions, trade limits, advertising, hysteria of losing our private capital, bad image towards Soviets in our movies, etc were all created by ourselves, not by USSR). And the legacy of our hysterical propaganda lives on until today.

USSR had good parts, but it was not all sunshine and rainbows much like any other country. I still dont think that is good to praise USSR and claim US propaganda was all false. (It was not) USSR deserves to be hated for their foreign policies and just flat out how they treated anyone who wasn’t russian.

I don’t believe her at all She’s always been arrogant & pretentious She’s anything but humble Only greed would make her auction her medals She raised a criminal for a son Her teammates didn’t like her There’s just something about Olga that makes me not like her despite her talent It’s the humility the grace the accountability the respect with the coach and the hard work and accepting failure yet humility against so much Praise that has marked Nadia Comaneci in my heart

I’m not seeing any arrogance only talent. Extreme talent. She was way ahead of her times and she was hated for it. Nadia doesn’t even come close when it comes to pioneering and exploring different moves. I’m Romanian and think Nadia is highly overrated. But this is the world we live in, the best never get to shine only the average. To me Olga was the best gymnast of all times and she was robbed, she deserved the first 10 not Nadia.
