The answer is simple. The video opens with a bit of song " Jagadhaanandha Kaaraka" which is praise of Lord Ram composed by Swami Thiagaraja. T M Krishna might have sung hundreds of such songs of Thiagaraja Swamigal and other great composers in praise of Gods and Goddesses of Hinduism and would have earned lakhs of rupees as remuneration. The same T M Krishna chose to sing co😊mpositions eulogising one E V Ramaswamy who insulted Lord Ram by garlanding his portrait with chappals and slapping the portrait with chappals and raising abusive and obscene slogans against Lord Ram and Sita. He had the audacity to sing such compositions side by side with the compositions of great composers. He verbally abused his music bretheren who belonged to his own community that they are casteists. To simply put he is a brat. The anger of the musicians is against only the Music Academy while they acknowledge his artistry. Such types of persons ( likes of TMK) are called criminally intelligent and perverted ones.

TMK is not "sangeetha kalanidhi"; the apt recognition would be "sangeetha karunanidhi".

Padhmashri Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan took the Carnatic music to common man without offending anyone. T M Krishna I had offended everyone leave alone the music industry. Music Academy had snubbed Kunnakudi for doing a Devine work but now they are claiming to support T M Krishna? Music Academy is a hopeless organisation which claims to be superior but to the contrary, it is a very prejudiced organisation.

The double standards of Academy is well known. The academy did not honour Madurai Soma Sundaram who was ten times talented than Krishna. Similarly it chose not to recognise such stalwarts like M M Dandapani Desikar ( vocalist and composer), Sirkazhi Govindarajan, T M Soundararajan, Nadaswaram Vidwans Karukurichi Arunachalam, Namagiripettai Krishnan to mention few. Definitely he got the award because of his association with Anti Hindu N Ram. The academy has lost its sheen and prestige.

The award is just shameful, absolutely shameful.

It is time that Carnatic Music be spread across the nation and world and be learned and performed across different communities, cast etc. TM Krishna in the pretext of this notion is only hurting sentiments of Brahamin community and also the roots of Carnatic music which stems from sanathana dharma. The best way to respond to TM Krishna is simply ignore him and not boycott or talk about him in the media. He seems to be Media savvy person like Kardhasians who likes to get media time by giving controversial statements. Having said that one should address the criticism by being proactive in spreading the Carnatic music to other communities and cast and also learn from Hindustani Music which was performed equally by both Muslims and Hindus.

First, we were talking about Muslim musicians in India, not every Muslim. What you said first applies to TMK. It was he who dragged caste angle into Indian classical discourse and started all mudslinging tarnishing one community. Btw, no need to teach me about focusing on music- I listen to Iranian classical music of Mohammed Reza Lofti also. Every music has an image and it’s the patrons of that art form that decided who to support or not. Some classical music rasikas (you may be one) support him but I think the majority don’t like him due to his rantings and denigrating people who they hold in high regard.

Sorry, yes, I agree with you. I made a comment only about your last statement about Muslims. That’s it. Btw, no Muslim Hindustani classical musician will be hurt to hear they are converted Brahmins. It’s an open secret- go search online. I was told by one student of a renowned Hindustani Muslim musician that his guru puts the sacred thread (yajnopaveeta) in a talisman and wear it to a thread around the waist and also offer tarpanams on amavasya. That parampara is fortunately continuing but once Islamization is complete, they may slowly move away from this art that is closely associated with sanatana dharma. Hope the tradition of Dagars, Asad Ali Khan, Bismilla Khan etc. continues- I don’t care if they are now Muslims/Brahmin etc. I die for their music. Take care.

Will a musician who is a follower of Hitler, praises him and supports his ideology be given a Grammy Award even though he maybe the best musician. Sangeetha kalanidi award is equal to Oscar but it is not Oscar is equal to sangeetha kalanidhi as while anchoring you equated the two awards , but sangeetha kalanidhi is much more great than oscar

Chinmayi dont paint everyone with the same brush....while what you have gone through is deplorable definitely... but your case and this with TMK are not comparable. Why bring a different case into what TMK has done. Compare apples to apples. TM KRISHNA is undoubtedly an accomplished and erudite vocalist about whom none of his detractors have any thing adverse to say about his music credentials. His singing is devotional, soulful and mesmerising and he praises the Lord and his avatars with all reverence like any other musician. Awards are given on the basis of the merit of a Person's excellence in his field and not based on his personal views which may be anti traditional . Many of the music stalwarts had a nasty , tarnished and sullied personal morality in their lifetime and their personal integrity is debatable . Yet they were honoured ! The opposition is only to Krishna's modern views against conventional Carnatic heritage and customs, and its Brahminical mode of adherence to age old tradition.. Unlike the other musicians who have become famous because of their talents only , TMK stands as an intellectual colossus with an analytical mind to study the dynamics of Carnatics music. Hence he has been awarded the prestigious Magsaysay Award. His rational view about the Mridhangam having cow skin with leather straps, and his views about the legendary MS having been born in a Dasi family of non Brahmins are true and factual. These are irritating data to the Gomatha and Hindutva fanatics who are RSS BJP stooges . However a large section of the music lovers are behind TM KRISHNA and because of this episode are going to vote against the BJP. If Carnatic Music is so sacrosanct why are they bothered about criticism against it ?

60% to 70% of the Performing musicians are from the brahmin Community but they are not legitimate winners like Rahman, Ilayaraja and Yesudas. TM Krishna wants equality in his profession and that is not wrong.

The reason the Music Academy (now controlled by DMK) has decided to give the award to TMK at this time is only to raise a controversy based on DMK and its patron Saint EVR’ caste based politics. They have built their entire political career on Hindu, Bharat and Brahmin hatred. DMK plans, (by raising this controversy) to project itself as a crusader against Brahmins and Sanathana Dharma. CLASSICAL Carnatic Music is, unlike other genres, based solely on Sanathana Dhrama and all performances are devoted to the praise of our deities. The Music Academy, for example, has no room for people who are anti-Sanathana Dharma. It is not a social club. To honor a confessed anti-Sanathana person by MA is something we, the devotees of Classical Carnatic music cannot accept.

As a person aware of how the Music Academy and the Musicians who claim to boycott TMK have come to this point, I believe that the award to TMK is a stepping stone towards making Carnatic music more universal. If we decide to nitpick what all these awardees have said, surely we would find fault with all of them as no human is perfect.

Will this hypocrite who used the most disgustingly obnoxious and utterly obscene language while writing on the LEGENDARY EMPRESS OF CARNATIC MUSIC , BHARAT RATNA M S AMMA, have the moral right to receive the M S Subbulakshmi award along with sangeeta kalanidhi??? Those great composers did not take a single rupee and even rejected the offerings by kings. But we perform for money. Saint Tyagaraja's life style and how he fed his family in dire poverty ,we have nothing to learn from these people.Having that situation,the saint has composed all these krithis. Now a days bhakti is a relative term. I support him but all of u make money out of our ancestors like saint tyagaraja, dikshitar and syamasastry.i cant say it is wrong but We should learn a bit from them rather than fighting like this. In the vast time,who recognises this sangita kalanidhi.Leave him. It appears that many musicians in academy are tamilians.Dilute the mixture and there may be a different flavour or ruckus to fight for.

every caste has hypocrisy. WHy dont you join the Nadar Sangam and check if they admit you or join the some muslim group or christian group and find out how they treat you? Brahmiins are easy target because they are too soft and tolerant. Have you dealt with Devars and Vanniyars. you should try and come back and tell us.

The real fact was you people never allowed them to learn or educated or transferred knowledge any lower caste people. In fact u treated them as untouchable and never considered us as human beings. Now when they got the chance they started doing well and outperformed you. How many of the Brahmin scholars have taught music to a sc or ST kid??

Apart from Madurai Somu (Vocal), there were number of instrumentalists like Dwaram Venkataswami Naidu (Violin), Nadaswara vidwans Thiruvadudurai Rajarathinam Pillai, Thiruveezhimalai Brothers, Namagiripettai Krishnan, Thavil Vidwans Valayappatti,Haridwaramangalam, Viswa (Flute) were dominating this carnatic music world. When the Dravidian parties started dominating the political scene, many people thought that carnatic music is not for them and non-brahmins considered that this genre is meant only for brahmins and left the scene. TMK is selfish and perverted and things he is a scholar in music. Music is for expressing bakthi, which bharat Ratna awarded MS amma did in her life. She is so blessed by Swami srinivasa today venkatesha subrabatham and Vishnu sahasranama resonates, it is direct blessing of God. TM Krishna is musically egoistic and he things he attained scholarship, poor ignorant being. Let God forgive him and I pray God to give him sudhbhukthi. We need to just ignore such people and the current music acedamy and boycott them. Music is essentially from veda and shall be used for bhakti.

He is a character assasin. His disrespectful remarks about St. Thiagaraja n Bharatha Rathna MS Amma r unpardonable. He earns his living the kruthis of the Saint Composer. And he does not know perhaps that Smt M S Amma is one of the main contributors for the establishment n growth of Music Academy through her benefit performances. The sad part is that the Hindu paper owners n DMK r trying to gain petty publicity thro this TMK episode.

He may have a different viewpoint than you and you may or may not concur with it but labelling him as terrorist or anti- national only inflames hatred. Just like you change the channel on TV when you don't like a program, you are free to listen and enjoy a musician of your choice if you don't like the views of one. Just understand that there may be others that understand and appreciate what he is trying to achieve.

Since Social media is prominent we come to know of these kind of orchestrated villification of an artist who doesnot conform to their dictacts. In the past they did this to no less than M.S.Subbulakshmi. To appease the brahmins Mr.Sadasivam have to marry her and give her social recognition. Veena Doyen S.Balachandar was slighted simply because he was not in conform. Madurai Somu is another. So it is a deliberately played game

Atleast in Kerala, the following for Carnatic Music transcends Caste, Religion, ideology. You could in a Concert have a Mr Chacko or a Joseph as a neighbour appreciating the nuances of Carnatic Music. This is something worth pondering.

Nothing revolt! Certain bramins are jumping here and there! That's all! Music, Music Academy are NOT bramins assets!

Just because TMK wanted equality in a domain dominated by the Brahmins all these Sanatanis join and want to malign his heritage. Why shouldn’t he sing what he wants. The very name of Periyar literally strikes fear among these guys. Shame on the Indian version of Jews

Too harsh to compare with Jews. Kerala is unique that the following for Carnatic Music cuts across Caste and Religion. There are many from the non Brahmin Castes in Tamil Nadu who have contributed immensely to Carnatic Music. During the Marghazi Season artists like Saket Raman are trying to take the Music to the common Man. Over the years I am sure that the new generation in TN will take to Carnatic Music like their brethen in Kerala.

Have you been stopped from carnatic music ? Read about E V Ramaswamy Naicker and the vile acts he committed and then talk about any 'fear'. TMK sings songs and compositions on the Lord and then sings and praises Periyar who insulted the Gods (only Hindu Gods mind you, in Dravidian movement hypocrisy). One of the many shocking contradictions of TMK. Have other artists stopped or halted equality ? You do not seem to know or understand the subject. You call Indian version of Jews and why the hatred (calling them shame) like Hitler ?

How come you don’t interview the other part of the story. As usual one sided Sanghi supporting journo happily taking money to promote one side.
