Reviving Vintage | Restoring a Walnut Dresser to Its Former Glory!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
When I saw this dresser, I immediately recognized the knobs that matched an old vanity I repurposed into nightstands a few months ago. A lot of its beautiful walnut veneer was loose or missing altogether but I already knew the potential it held and couldn’t resist fixing it up and bringing it back to life.

Thank so much! I’m really excited to learn and keep adding skills to my tool box.
You are without a doubt the best teacher and I look forward to watching, learning and being inspired by your work! Last summer I scored an alley find. A Biedermeier style walnut veneer dresser that had many of the same problems so it was reassuring to see that I managed well. It turned out beautifully with a hemp oil finish that enhanced the grain.

A very meticulous restoration of a lovely, gentle years piece of furniture. The restoration kit is a smart score for your workshop. 🌟 thank you for sharing 🌟💓
Gorgeous! I love that you let the natural grain shine through and went with a very natural finish. Anyone would be lucky to have this refurbished piece in their home.
Katie, I am so glad you didn’t paint any of that gorgeous walnut and that you added back veneer. This piece is a beauty. You go girl!!
Incredible Katie! The time, patience & care you give the pieces really shows in the final product. Love it.
Katie, this is absolute stunning! What a work of art. You are truly talented and we are all thankful that you share your journey with us. Take care, stay safe.
Love the 'old gentleman' persona. This one is a great save. Love your channel, Katie!
I’m still in awe of how you find amazing pieces of furniture and your amazing skills. Once again another wonderful restoration. Love the kit you got, that’s going to be something that you’ll use often and I suspect will re order.
OMG this is gorgeous. The “easy” fix would have been paint. You’re a real trooper, Christina was right you rock 👏
Nothing like a new Katie Scott video to get me motivated to get off my butt and into the workshop! 👏🏼👏🏼
Beautiful wood grain! The combination of the original hardware and the woodgrain, I just love it. This is probably my favourite restoration.
Awesome job, Katie! I'm glad you didn't paint this one. The sheer amount of detail you put into this is mind blowing.
I love this chest! It’s beautiful! AND…I LOVE RUB & BUFF, I don’t know how I lived without it!
Looks fantastic! Those products are a bit intimidating, but the veneer repairs look much simpler than I would have imagined. Once again, an amazing, informative video. I love watching your videos!!!
The beautiful wood grain really pops. You did a wonderful job, Katie!
Hi Katie, I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now. I don't do any furniture projects but your videos are lovely to watch, you've got it so right and the furniture transformations are wonderful. Great job!
You can be very proud of this one ! What a fabulous repair and refinish, it is absolutely beautiful. If the original designers could see the life you breathe back into some of those old pieces, they would be thrilled.
Katie, been watching you for years and now I am convinced-you are a magician! It’s beautiful! TFS
This is a FANTASTIC restoration!! I love that you were able to replace the veneer rather than use Bondo! Awesome job!!! ❤❤❤
Wow!!!!!!! Sooooo beautiful!!!!!! Great tips too.
The dresser has a new life! Your work is stellar! ❤
Katie, what beautiful work. You put your heart and soul into each re-do that I watch!

HOLY SMOKES, wow!
That is so pretty. I am so glad you refinished it back to its original beauty.
Holy moly. Absolutely gorgeous. One of the best makeovers I’ve ever seen!
I have my parents’ old bedroom set purchased in 1950 and the man’s dresser has that coin holder in the top drawer. It’s a lovely period detail.
Wow! ❤ You should have a running clock to see how many hours you spend to get this result. I love the clean deco lines of this one, it’s lovely. Well done!
Great job as always, Katie! Oh you are so patient to work with all those little chips and pieces of veneer like rebuilding a puzzle, my goodness!
This turned out so beautiful. What a fabulous job on the veneer repair, and blending. Gorgeous piece and such a great video, thank you for sharing😊😊😊
Wow! I love how patient you are with each piece. That turned out beautiful.
The finished piece has so much depth of character 😊 ❤
This is a $2500 piece! Simply gorgeous!
I am so impressed with how you made this little guy come together. I remember a long time ago you prefaced your Post by saying you are a furniture 'painter', not the furniture restorer. But you are clearly the furniture restorer... AND DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU NO. Good job!!
Transformed with love! Looks beautiful! So great watching your technique and processes, then to see the finished product….Magnificent!
So glad that you were able to bring this piece back to glory. Great job!
This is stunning Katie!! That walnut edge banding was perfect for the repairs and such a good fix - I am definitely going to look into keeping some in my workshop for these kinds of fixes! 😊❤
Returned to its former glory. Well Done!

Painting is not trendy. It’s a fantastic option to extend the life of pieces that have passed their prime.

@salvagedbykscott I realize that. I'm commenting on how most folks just paint a piece vs. taking time to restore to original. It all comes down to personal decor preferences, of course. You do Excellent work!
Ur a wizard, Harry. No joke, amazing job!
I hope you keep this one for yourself - I think it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve done.
So glad you kept the original knobs! Th ey complete the look beautifully.
You make it look so easy. The paint you used for the chips worked really well. Love the finished dresser.

FAAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC job Katie!!! I appreciate how much you guys put into your videos so once I start watching them I make sure I complete them all the way through. This one took me approx. 2 weeks to complete & it was worth it. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!

Outstanding! Love seeing that beautiful walnut brought back to life.😍
Just watching you redo old furniture makes my day brighter! I love how you turn old stuff into something amazing and beautiful! I believe the dresser is from the fifties. That furniture used to be in all my friends parents rooms! Lol
I think one of my absolute favorites you've done K.

Beautiful Refinishing of this lovely dresser! Thank you for walking us thru your process using stain matching kit and of using Mohawk vinyl sealer, toner, and lacquer. I have not ventured into the Mohawk products but would like to on a Kling Maple MCM dresser I am currently repairing cracks on. You inspire courage to venture into new territory.
