Anybody that's diabetic or has high blood pressure, high cholesterol & Osteoarthritis! These things are awesome! They take away swelling & a lot of pain too 🖖👍 God bless you Phil! for fixing it, diodes have saved a lot!! of devices' I've done in Radio/RF over the years. The one you fixed is a transient voltage suppression diode.

Aunty Nora says it's great, so I'm pretty pleased with myself for being able to fix it. They're quite expensive too, which makes fixing it with a part that costs less than 5p even better. This is the first time I've came across TVS diodes. It's a good example of why I need to work on other things, to help me learn more about electronics.

Great job - that diode going to ground, its cathode will be on ground, which means it saves the board if reverse polarity, or over voltage occurs.

Hey Chris, it certainly did a fine job here. It took a little while for me to swap it out but I wanted to be sure the short wasn't being caused by anything else on the board.

Thank you very much for your video. I had a customer done the very same thing plugging a wrong power supply into the unit blowing that same protection power diode. I unsoldered it and it works. Saving the customer $500 on a new one. My model was a newer spec model but had the same fault.

That's great news, I'm happy my little video helped. Well done on the fix. It seems like a very common problem, which could have been prevented by using a different sized power jack plug

That's great news Nigel. You are the third person to receive free diodes for their Revitive, so that's at least four fixed from this video that I know of.

@@PhilipBryden Now that the office is complete I went to do the electrics in the shed part only to find that my electrician has mistakenly taken my cable. I’ll try to show an update in my next video.
