Revisiting the Postage Stamp Block with Some Lovely Liberty Fabric - HOW I MADE MY CURTAINS!
People often ask me about my curtains - it's probably one of our most frequently asked questions, so as Anna and I are having a couple of weeks off, while we are busy getting the shop restocked, I thought I would repost some old videos, with a bit of extra chat thrown in. In this video I explain how I made my colourful postage stamp curtains, using some lovely pieces of Liberty fabric. I then make them into lavender bags, which might be something you would like to do - but please be aware that they will not be in the shop, as this is an old video!
Love
Kate

After another stressful day of teaching, how wonderful to come home, grab a cup of tea,a cat, and sit down to watch your beautiful videos. Postage stamp anything is my favorite so to find this video w your curtains and Liberty fabrics .... could not have been more perfect . Thank you for sharing your artistry and your delightful personality.
Thank you for inviting us to revisit this video. Enjoy your off-time🌻
You are one lovely funny lady...admiring you more n more as weeks pass by...much love to you Kate
Hi Kate. The Liberty prints are so pretty. Love your postage stamp curtains and the Lavender bags were lovely. I hope you are enjoying your summery weather. Take care and see you soon xxx
Have a good summer yourself 🌻😎🏖!
Just as much fun for the umteenth time! Making a 9 patch this very moment.
I'm in Adelaide, South Australia and the day started with a totally random and violent mini tornado storm (luckily no damage to my home), it's day 1 of a 7 day covid lockdown so I'm working from home, and then my suburb had a power outage. However it was a good day, now ending with a cuddly doggo, a soft knitted blanket, a warm cup of tea watching one of my favourite KZread channels :)

What a positive lady! Thank you. The way things are between the weather and the virus it sure can be difficult to keep your spirits up. Blessings to all those struggling with these and other challenges😘 em in Virginia 🇺🇸
Lol, loved the stacking at the end. And those curtains are just amazing!!!
I'm so very pleased that you and Anna are going to take a much needed break for you both ❤ Family time is very important and needed for refreshing and renewing.....be blessed my friends 🙏 ❤ You will be missed and thought about lovingly ❤❤
What a nice surprise! Have a nice break. Don't overdue it. Enjoy your walks in the early morning or evening.
Can't help but feel this is just for me today, even though I know it's not. Many thanks!
I rewatched the video and suddenly I noticed that the funnel you used had something familiar ... It's the one you use to put salt in the dishwasher ! It has a larger lower part that allows you to insert the lavander easily without having to push it through the common funnel with a stick, as I had to do when I made my lavender bags and took me ages to complete the job . Enjoy , you and Anna, your holiday , Elena Italy
I love your curtains. I never thought of making curtains that weren't lined.
Fantastic gift idea for the girls in our family! I was amazed when you showed the length of the series of windows you made curtains for! Thank you for doing this! I’ve gone back some but this is really nice. Have a wonderful rest of summer!
So nice to see you. Enjoyed watching. I’ve been collecting Liberty fabrics. Not sure what I’m making yet but I’m enjoying the hunt.
Kate, so enjoyed the revisit of postage stamp drapes and lavender bags. I could almost smell the lavender listening to your description. The shipping room is lovely and blessings on Anna for helping it run so smoothly. You take care and enjoy a nap or two in your peaceful tree house. Loving summer blessings!

Have a lovely break Kate😀 Going to settle down to watch your video ❤️ KimX
So glad you are taking down time. Following Arne and Carlo's lead maybe. It really is good for those of you who have poured out so much for your communities. Running "reruns" is great fun actually. When you do start again you will be fresh and full of new ideas. We both win, haha. The shipping room must make both you and Anna so happy. So efficient. Maybe around Christmas I can make another order. The exchange blew up my budget but I have so enjoyed what I ordered. Tea towels everyday. Happy Summer Holiday!

Hi Kate, I am head over heels for liberty fabrics, thanks to you! :D I made a list, months age, of what order I want to make things for my house, and the postage stamp curtains are very near the top. I will be making my curtains for my kitchen, trying to decide if I want actual curtains or some sort of shade. Enjoy your down time, xoxo's Sandie
Really enjoying your videos. Thank you.
Hi Kate and Anna I really enjoy all your videos! Have a beautiful time during your downtime. I turned 62 yrs old on 7\14, I moved to San Antonio Texas from California 11yrs ago. . I'm am officially retired as of 11\2020 I worked in the court system in California 20 yrs and worked in automotive plant as material ordering for 6 yrs. In Texas. Your videos are a beautiful inspiration for me. I made my first paper piece made a small mat. It was all hand sewn which I enjoyed! Have a lovely summer😍
Hello Kate. I’ve been thinking of you lately. When I watched “Cruella” and Emma Stone went to work at Liberty, I smiled…hearing you talk about Liberty fabrics for so long. Also last night, on Hulu (not sure you get this), I watched, “McCartney 3, 2, 1”. Excellent series about the Beatles. I hope you can find it!! Well Kate, enjoy your time off from filming. Take care.
That picture in the datk, with the light filtering in... It's just stunning! I wish you were my teacher ☺️🎨
I’ve been wanting to watch your postage stamp block video again so this was perfect! I was one of the lucky ones that purchased a lavender bag from you several years ago and it still smells so yummy! I keep it by my bed for peaceful sleep and if I have one of those days where I need a little calming I scrunch it up and take a long sniff!😌 Enjoy your well deserved break.
Thanks Kate, hope you, Anna and the family enjoy your time off. I hope you manage to get some time away or even enjoy your own garden and surroundings xx
I think a break is well deserved! I always wonder how have the energy to do everything you do. You are amazing. I am so blessed to see how your family has rallied around you and your KZread and Patreon endeavors. I know they are a big help. Enjoy your break - don’t come back too soon. We’ll wait. Love from Colorado
I bought one of the lavender bags. I keep it at the head of my bed between the pillows. This morning when making my bed, I picked it up and smelled it. It still smells as wonderful as it did the day I received it. 🕊
Enjoy your break Kate. 🌺
Enjoy your time off!
I bought one of your lavender bags, still smells lovely!
😍 love your style
thank you for the affection you have for your followers, i liked the step by step of the curtain. your videos are beautiful, my health, a hug 👏🇧🇷
I hope you and Anna have a wonderful break. Enjoy and get some rest (not gonna happen) and we will be here waiting when you return. I love the postage stamp quilts. Years after my dad passed away, mom took his shirts and made quilts. When the pieces she had left, she made us pillows with the postage stamp pattern. Some day I will have me some Liberty fabric!!!
Beautiful! Thank you Kate!!! I had no idea! I thought you stitched each individual tiny square! Good to know it is much easier!
So happy you are taking some summer time off. Please kick your feet up and relax!!!!💚🌺🐝
So often I think of something you’ve demonstrated or shown but it’s so hard to go back through the 3+ years worth of videos to find what I’m looking for. I wish there were a way to somehow make it easier……like a card catalogue with a description of what’s covered on each video……I know, that sounds impossible😳🙃. I guess I’ll go back to day 1 and make notes of the content covered for myself. I think that is why you are sometimes asked the same questions over and over by new subscribers. Never mind, we love you and enjoy you sharing your life and knowledge with us. Enjoy your summer break.🌷🌹🌻
Thank you sharing this to watch again! I foresee Liberty postage stamp - something - in my future!
I enjoyed that a second time around . The first time it inspired me to make lavender sachets from my scraps and it has done it again.
Good to see Liberty fabric today. Was organizing yesterday and ran across my.small stash of Liberty yesterday. I had plans to make my kitchen curtains of Liberty.
This was made before I knew of you. I just purchased 50 linen bags for lavender bags. These are so pretty. I may send the purchased ones back. ❤️❤️
I love your work apron/tunic!
Enjoy your time. Love to watch old videos.
So glad you are having some downtime. Enjoy! There has been a lot of discussion on Facebook about the postage stamp curtains. The discussion is around it they have lining. Could you give us the answer? Thank you so much!!

No lining. That's why the light shows through so wonderfully.

I wonder if you could back them with tulle and quilt them to make them washable but still let the light through?
Wow absolutely beautiful, looks like stain glass.
Hello Kate, I love all those windows in that room the sun probably comes in so nice and I love that you love your home. I have made so many things from watching you. Enjoy your summer😊
I really enjoyed the postage stamp blocks being used for lavender bags. I have fresh lavender which this is a way of using scraps. Thank you.
Enjoy your break. X
Your calmness is just what I needed today!! Enjoy your break!
Thank you for showing us how you sew the blocks together! You are an excellent teacher! Have a great week! Mel
Now that was really cool to see Kate...the entire run of those curtains. If you've shown them before I missed it. Thanks for the older video since I hadn't seen that one yet...fun idea with lavender and postage stamp blocks.
Wow!! The curtains are amazing!!
Thank you for todays program. I love everything you do.
Have a lovely summer Kate! 🌞 💚
Hi Kate, I have watched this video many times and never tire of it! Many thanks! Enjoy your summer and some well deserved down time!
I love this repeat episode! Enjoy your time away.
Enjoy your break! My daughter is expecting my first grandchild at the end of December. She wants pastel colours for the baby's room so I bought beautiful, pre-cut strips in pale rainbow batik on spec. My daughter loved the colours and the concept but decided she would really like it if the colours cascaded in rainbow order rather than patchwork. So I'm re-watching to see how I can do postage stamp but in an organised fashion. Fun times!
Discovered your channel today - what a gem, thank you.
A lovely quilt block! Thank you for sharing!
I still have my lavender bag! It's as strong with scent as it was when you first sent it. I love it!
Loved seeing all the different quilts next to the sofa. Your curtains are awesome i am inspired each time i see them. You are such a talented lady. Long may it continue.x
thank you Kate have a great time, x x x

Loved revisiting the liberty videos.
🤗 Such a good idea Kate! Take care.
Brilliant !! Enjoy the rest of the Summer.
Have a good summer break Kate & Anna 🥰
Enjoy your break Kate & Anna...this was nice because I had not seen you make this postage stamp block. (I thought, poor Kate is going to kill her eyesight sewing each one of those little squares). I'm not a quilter, can you tell. The quilters of the world have my deepest appreciation for your craft. Have a Blessed day.
Enjoy your down time. We all need that at times.❤
Great idea. Love lavender. So calming and the smell is making me want to curl up on the LGS
Your curtains in the dark just shouted Christmassy to me, love love love them
Enjoy your break. Well deserved!! The curtains have been on my bucket list for three years now...
Such a great way to get the postage stamp blocks pieced. Enjoy having a bit of a break!
Totally enjoyed our visit. Want to make my own kitchen curtain this way.
