This show was beautiful. Shows what paying true artists gets you.

We must wait patiently, The show took a lot of money for them to make this and even just to make a season at all. Must keep faith and patience.

When the show got cancelled, I made promise to myself to watch the whole season at least once or twice a year. I sometimes even try three times. Maybe Netflix will finally understand what they have when they see how much people watch it.

It is great to see you making Dark Crystal videos again. I agree, it sucks that Age of Resistance didn't get a 2nd season. The Henson company needs to release this show as DVD's and then show Netflix the sales numbers. Or, as I said in a previous comment, the Henson Company just needs to team up with a streaming service that isn't filled with child groomer sympathizers.

Still waiting for season 2.

On episode 1, YES the scene in the chariot was the most important to the early moments in the show. Brea shows the respect for the Skesis and the interest the Scroll Keeper has for her is great too. Plus the message on how the elites of the world fear the people below them acquiring knowledge. "Gelflings want to be ruled," that GREAT MONOLOGUE from Simon Pegg giving it all he's got in this series

Perfectly said, I vehemently agree! This show is a brilliant home run masterpiece of a series! Epic, modern storytelling and world expanding at its best! Flawless imagery, practical effects and techniques, wonderful writing and of course the myth, world and inhabitants of Thra are fleshed out so brilliantly! The voice cast was totally perfect! I think Jim Henson himself would have been proud! Fingers crossed its resurrected and continued somewhere!

They can't give us Season 2, but they can give us a HORRIBLE Cowboy Bebop. GIVE US SEASON 2!!!!!

I've been watching it again lately (having resubscribed for Stranger Things) and it's just so captivating. It's painful knowing there isn't a second season (yet. I will always be hopeful)

Dark Crystal deserves to be on the same level of Star Wars in terms of a big franchise and this show plus content from the comics & novels prove how you can easily have plenty of material to adapt and expand on. Raunip potentially showing up in season 2 would've made me so happy because I loved his story in Creation Myths.

I still remember what introduced me to the dark crystal, it was the odd1sout video about the original movie it always interested me in the world so when the movie was on Netflix I watched it and I loved it so much more so when the show I came out I thought I was dreaming but I stayed up just to watch it and now I can’t stop loving it

I wonder if Age of Resistance will ever get a DVD and or Blu-Ray release. I know Netflix has done it with other stuff they did.

Looking forward to this new series of reviews! Time for a rewatch to follow along!

At the end could you do what you would want to see in season two and how it leads directly into the movie? I saw it as a slow burn tragedy. Would love to hear your thoughts on what could’ve been.

Netflix canceled the show because of cost and viewership the first 6 weeks. There was an article about it. Netflix expects every show to get the same immediate viewership as Stranger Things. Dark Crystal did get high numbers but it took longer because of lack of advertising. Heck the show even won an Emmy but they announced the cancelation before the win.

Have you ever heard, purple man, of the Legacy of Kain? Quite the inspiring story of a video game narrative getting very big, very niche, very cool, and then it had its potential hit a penultimate point, with production issues for a sequel after Defiance. Legacy of Kain is no story of an inherent goodness to life, however it had a strong message about Free Will and about the nature of True Evil. And we got to see a narrative with respect for consistency and authenticity, and the concept of its narrative bringing forth something true to life itself. You have a journey, we all have a journey, and so we'll traverse our paths mutually for a time together.

The statement about how this franchise could’ve been the next Lord of the rings, the next Harry Potter is so true. You have been saying that from the beginning and I can’t agree enough. Imagine a world where we had a bunch more seasons of age of resistance, a trilogy of films about the Garthim wars, maybe a movie telling the events of the creation myths. With all this excitement surrounding the dark Crystal the original film would’ve been played in cinemas for the 40 year anniversary which would’ve been an absolutely brilliant experience. If only Netflix had understood what they had.

Since it is a Henson Company project, I think it’s possible for AoR to be picked up by Disney+. Thra knows they have enough money to throw around.

My money is on AppleTV, the new Fraggle Rock show *blew my mind* and they clearly let the Henson Co do what they wanted without studio interference, which isn't something that happens at Disney.

TDC: Age of Resistance floored me so hard watching the first episode, it was like whiplash (I hadn't seen the movie at all). I was crying so hard and couldn't comprehend how such a beautiful, riveting show was actually one of the darkest I had ever seen. It made me wish I had been exposed to the movie before. The more I watch AOR the more I come to the conclusion that it is a masterpiece and will be carrying it with me forever. Edit #2: I so agree with you, they had it right there! I think Netflix poured all its hopes and ambitions into the Witcher to be their big fantasy franchise, but it's flopping sadly. It's like Karma.
