The first time i smoked this i roasted my mouth so bad. I was smoking it like my typical english. Big mistake. Didnt smoke for like 2 weeks but after recovery i smoked a bowl at rediculously slow speed doing 1/4 sips at a time and man are the flavors spectacular.

So, I’m quite new at this. Hand-rolled clean cigarettes for 10 years, cigars for 2 years, and pipes (a meerschaum) for 2 weeks. Tried 6 blends so far, including the Peterson Navy Rolls. I have to say, these Navy Rolls are undoubtedly the best I’ve had so far. Rich, deep, smooth flavors, thick wafty smoke, the perfect amount of nicotine for my preferences, and to top it off it’s given me no tongue bite whatsoever. A little pricey perhaps but to me it’s well worth it.

One of my 1st tobacco's I tried; actually based off of the first review 😁. Hard to find though compared to escudo or the davidoff version. I'll have to see if I can round some up to try again!

One of the best, I seem to recall getting a strong aroma of Raisins, and the strong kick from the Perique.

Didn't Bradley once talk about taking his channel down due to negative feedback? I'm sure he will eventually run out of stuff and things to talk about. But I hope it won't be soon. I have enjoyed watching and listening to this fella.

Don't think you have reviewed C&D'd three friars...maybe I missed it. You should give it a try, I'd bet it is right up your alley.For me, this was the closest thing to Elizabethan than any other although the blends components aren't the same. Good Stuff

You should try Long Golden Flake (Blend No. 71) from Reiner.

I just got my first tin of this when it was reintroduced last year. Sweet, very sweet. A little less Perique than Escudo.

See, I thought it was kinda bland when I first tried the Dunhill Navy Rolls. I jarred the rest of the tin for around 2 years and recently tried it again. I thought it was much better with some age on it, but it still didn't grab me like others in my favorites roster have. Hey, no foul, tastes are _so_ dependent on the individual. As the ancient Latin saying goes, _De gustibus non est disputandum..._ there is no disputing tastes. For my part, I'm trying some Hearth and Home Viprati today in my new Capitello pipe that arrived as well, but at this point I'm extra eager to try Escudo mainly because of what folks like you have said about the higher Perique content. I'm one of those that's kind of a Perique freak!

@@mu2freighter Sounds like I have a similar taste to yours'. I have a tin of Navy Rolls set aside to age but, just one. It has no foul flavors at all, that's for sure. Yet it didn't leave much of an impression on me. Viprati sounds like something I should try.

Elizabethan @@jamesr2622 tastes being what they are, of course it's hard to be sure, but I did quite like the Viprati (and for tinned it's pretty cheap at P&C). Now that's based on just one fill of it in a new pipe so it'll be several servings down the line until I'm sure. Now, it DOES have an average rating of 3.8 out of 4 from 28 reviews at tobaccoreviews.com, that's pretty significant, and based on my one go I did indeed like it. If like me you enjoy a higher Perique content, C&D Bayou Morning's a favorite of mine, and in bulk it's inexpensive too. Now, I hear the flake version's even better, and might be a game changer, I haven't yet tried it though. Escudo is as mentioned supposed to be the gold standard of VaPers which is why it's on my short list to try. Also, AJ's VaPer (also cheap at P&C) is another with a good reputation I wish I'd ordered from P&C while I was at it...3.2 average from 39 reviews. I do hope you've tried Elizabethan Mixture. I'm with Bradley on this one, it's a good solid VaPer that I'm stocking up on now that Peterson's resumed production. Oh, that reminds me: while Elizabethan was missing, his replacement was GL Pease's Fillmore, another one I found too bland, but all was not lost. My other Pease blend I really like for flavor is Telegraph Hill. Hope I've given some useful input here!

have you thought about reviewing the James J Fox, Ashley, or Robert Lewis tobaccos? They each have a vaper or a near vaper and they are often in stock since they do not sell out as a soon as they are in stock. It is just suggestion not a complaint. I enjoy the videos.

Absolutely crazy you can taste all that. I’m a new pipe smoker and an x chewing tobacco user and I can’t taste much from all kinds of tobacco.

Is deluxe tend to be lighter, and more mellow?

I just got some. It taste really good.

How is compared with Stokkeby Luxury Bullseye Flake?

Please please revisit Escudo. It was my favorite blend and I think you’re the best reviewer. For me it beat out navy rolls. I never felt like the original Escudo review got a fair shake because you were sick. Would you consider a rereview of Escudo or a head to head VaPer shootout? You could even add bayou morning or temple bar into the shootout. Sincerely, your loyal fans!

I find if you don't rub out the coins too much you will get a smoke that will last over 2hrs in a medium sized pipe.. l used to prefer the original Cope's Escudo which is no longer available in the UK.

Just got 2 tins and I really like this blend,maybe a bit more than Elizabeth. But both are favorites 👍. Nice review.

Personally I actually prefer the simple Navy Rolls title to Deluxe Navy Rolls, I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps Adding the deluxe feels a little unecessary and doesn't add anything to the product. I don't know. In any case the simple Peterson/Dunhill Navy Rolls works for me.

Good "re" review, Bradley. I remember you telling me about the bready flavor, which I would find very enjoyable. I was never able to try this, but now that has changed, thanks to Peterson. A meaningless question: Have these new Peterson's changed in price from when they were Dunhill? Thanks, again!

They're a little more expensive than they were, but tobacco in general has gotten a bit more expensive. I want to say it was approximately $15 on smokingpipes when I ordered Deluxe Navy Rolls. The other blends were somewhat cheaper, around $12-$13.

@@bullsbarry Yeah, I think that is a big difference, especially compared to Escudo, even today. I'm sure Peterson takes into account that they are doing many pipers a big favor for bringing these Dunhill's back, but then again they are necessitating us to pay for that favor.

$15 is nothing for a tin of tobacco. I just paid $41 for this here in Ontario 🇨🇦. Thanks for the review Bradley and I'm excited to try out this blend. Also, STG should be a platinum level contributor to your Patreon 👍

Elizabethan is my favorite everyday blend, but this is VERY good as well.

Someone told me that Davidoff Flake Medallions, Escudo, and the Dunhill Navy Rolls are all the same tobacco in a different tin. Opinions? I've only had Escudo and Davidoff and they are very similar if not identical.

You hear that sort of thing all the time, but I very much doubt it's true. It's Virginia and Perique and even though not every VaPer is the same, the differences between them can really be miniscule.

@@sebastianh.1090 But they are all extremely close and are all made in the same factory. What you don't realize is that there are a million brands of tobacco, but very few tobacco manufacturers. That's why people say they are the same. Tastes that are impossible to differentiate and they all come from under the same roof.

@@nitemareman1 I know there aren't that many manufacturers, but I've tried so many blends where people told me "it's just X in a different tin.." and they were close sometimes but they were never actually the same. People assume just because the cut is the same, the tobacco is going to be the same as well. The only time that's actually true (in my experience) is with some "house blends" here in Germany. I could probably buy 5 different tins and they'd all have Solani Aged Burley Flake in them, just with a different name on it. I haven't tried Escudo or Navy Rolls, so they might actually be the same, but I still think it's unlikely.

For some reason I get a faint hint of what I believe to be Latakia in this blend. Pease always talked about old English tobaccos adding it to blends you didn’t think had it and it reminded me of his blend that does that. I think it was Fillmore, maybe?

The cigar lobby has had some victories recently that are helping us pipe smokers out. That's why there are no warning labels on the new tins. I honestly think the 21 smoking age will help us win other battles and might be an ok sacrifice for now
