Revision Tracking in Archicad

Ғылым және технология

Construction is messy, so how do you use the revision tracking system that is built into Archicad? Here is a tutorial to go over how to use the built-in system Graphisoft has provided us.

Good video. Out of date drawings in the field is a major frustration. As we move from paper to digital, hopefully that goes away. Where I used to work our Sheet Index included a matrix of every sheet and a checkbox for each sheet that was affected by each revision (AutoCAD - managed manually). We also had a "REVISIONS" sheet at the end of the set where we placed a written description of changes for each revision, along with the reason for the change, i.e. Owner directed, design change, or field coordination. That Revisions sheet gave a pretty good picture of what changed and when.

CI Tools has a cool Revision Matrix available (google search "Transmittal Object CI Tools"). Very cool but only available for the AU/NZ customers.

Great explanation. I'm still pretty new to Archicad and been battling to figure out how to make change/revision tracking simple as a 1 man office and this has cleared up a lot of confusing & frustrating issues I was having. I also like your tip with the vp stretching with 5 line items but I have 1 question regarding this. How do you deal with the text wrapping when it jumps to 2 lines and then obscures the line below? Basically, how can I avoid this happening when my description of a revision is too long for 1 line, and I don't want the lines below to be covered or obscured? TIA.

The text spilling over really boils down to limiting yourself on description length, using smaller text, or a longer width to the column of the schedule. If it must wrap to two lines, then you have to go into the schedule view and adjust the row height manually.

@@ColorBlindArchitect Thanks. Thats what I thought. I was bitten by a case of "wishful thinking" in hoping that there was an automatic way to set the schedule rows to automatically wrap to 2 lines.

How did you change your archicad interface to dark mode?

On Mac, within Archicad, choose Options, Work Environment, More Options, and under experimental options, choose Enable System Appearance. In the Mac OS settings, choose Dark Mode. Archicad unfortunately does not support dark mode for Windows.
