Reviewing the TREK SESSION 8 at Trestle Bike Park!

Фильм және анимация

Here is a review on my personal thoughts on the Trek Session 8 as one of Trestle’s Bike Rentals. They have a sick fleet this year and I might as well give it a go!

Thanks for this. Trying to figure out if I should go downhill bike or enduro as an older intermediate park rider who prefers flow trails. This shows downhill bikes aren't always the clearly better choice.

Everything you rode in this video would be fun on my slopestyle bike a dh bike has all the travel and plushness for going through rock gardens or big tree roots or rocky sections something like that it would instantly click in your head of why a dh bike is how it is what you rode in the video is way way to smooth for a dh bike an enduro would be fun there since it has even plenty of travel and is stiff enough to not worry about peddle bob wich is what made you tired on the dh bike

What's the best trail there for all of the drops? I recognize no quarter and boot camp, but there were other wooden features that I haven't come across yet.

cool video buddy, am thinking about picking up a new bike to replace my 130mm one. unsure to go full DH bike or super-enduro. Such a tough decision. Just wondering, what is your current enduro bike?

I ride a 2015 yeti 575. It still fits perfectly on downhill terrain despite it being a enduro rig. I chose an enduro bike over a DH for the purpose of its ability to ride XC easily as well. The bike can function on all types of mountain biking.

Bike_Life_101 Most enduros are capable enough to hit bike parks, just have some better gears and geometry for climbing. Enduros aren’t typically used for cross country because of the 150-180 travel range. Lots of travel means more pedal bon and loss of pedal efficiency, especially up hill. Cross country bikes are going to have less suspension, steeper head angles and seat tube angles, be lighter, smaller tire tread, and cheaper

Yeah if you're used to riding an Enduro, you're going to get pretty tired. It's a different way of flowing on a DH bike. Rent a DH rig again and spend the day on Trestle Downhill trail. Nice riding tho, you were getting it WAY sideways!!

Cool vid, it sounds like your struggling to hold on to that DH rig. What size bike did you rent? Are you a small guy? I just bought a YT TUES 27.5 Large and I don't get winded that much. But I'm 200-lbs and 5.7 inch tall and I can peddle it fine and through around that rig. Keep up the good work though nice commentary on your vid.

Thank you! The bike size I rented was probably a medium. I felt much better on endure rig since the suspension was much stiffer, that was just my opinion.

Bike_Life_101 Well all enduros are gonna have less travel than downhill bikes, which means there will be more ramp up on shorty travel bikes, making it feel stiffer. The session, along with any downhill bike, isn’t made for cross country riding or raveling long flat/uphill distances. It’s main purpose is to smash through rocks fast and hit bigger jumps/drops while making it easier and more comfortable

Its totally up to you. Is it a new bike just unpackaged? It depends on how you like older bikes because it's a slightly older model

Choccy31 going from 40mm of travel to trek session 8 is a dramatic change haha. I might recommend trying before you buy it. And it’s also best suitable for downhill

Choccy31 The fuel EX is a shorter travel trail bike which can come in either aluminum or carbon, depending on you level and how much your looking to spend The trek session is a downhill bike, meaning it is best suited for trails with lift access and monster jumps and big rocks

Trestle just doesn't have anything that really requires a DH bike. You need to ride actual DH race tracks to appreciate the session. Trestle's flow trails don't even require an enduro honestly.

Dh bikes are amazing bikes no doubt about it. Really is a DH bike needed any more? A couple of days ago at trestle with out question the bike park was full of more trail/enduro bikes than DH bikes. I love my 2014 slash it has a few upgrades and compared to my days on a big DH bike I am without a doubt happier with my slash. I feel that my slash is so much more playful it feels like a mini DH bike that doesn't kill me after a few DH trails I can hit the dropper and climb and connect trails easier. My bike is outdated compared to others but i can have fun and keep up with my ridding buddy's that have 29er enduros and one guy has the newer 29er slash and I don't seem to have to much trouble keeping up with him except for the climbs or if he is feeling like race mode. My next bike will just be an updated enduro. I hate to say it I may have to test out a 29er I was hesitant to go 27.5 now its the 29er.

Yes! That is exactly how I feel! I prefer the smaller enduro bikes on the trails because they feel so much lighter and more playful on the jumps! Don't get me wrong, DH rigs are amazing for certain things but yes enduro rigs are all you need for this kind of terrain no doubt about it
