    I'm pretty sure most of these companies just lie about that and pull statistics out of their ass. Though there aren't too many reptile-specific vets so who knows. They could have just asked a dog vet to sign off and called it good, lol. I personally try to shop by things used by actual behaviorists I like, like Jackson Galaxy, Victoria Stilwell, etc. Not sure about reptiles, but I'm sure there's reputable people out there to research. I feel the EXTREME need to express this on one of your videos, because I know a lot of people look up to you. But I worked at petsmart for less than a year, and it was my first ever job. When i turned 18 and got my license, Petsmart was the place I applied to and got accepted immediately. It was my dream job, because all of my life, I had LOVED animals. So I thought it would be the PERFECT place to get a first job. During my first week, they had me on COMPUTER training. I had to sit in the backroom and finish a huge test, where they would make me watch videos then answer questions afterwards. I passed ALL of the tests without failing. However, once I started getting ACTUAL training, that's when things went south. When shipments of animals came in, we had to put all of the new animals in their right spots in the back room. In the backroom... We would have over 20 hamsters in a shoe-box sized container, with one TINY house for them all to fit in. Before, and AFTER I finished my training, I constantly found hamsters in the backroom that had been torn apart by the other hamsters. The hamsters that were out on "display" were usually only 2 or 3 hamsters make it look like they were being humane. The managers told me: "NEVER have more than 2 or 3 hamsters maximum in the floor display. We don't want that display to be too cramped like the backrooms." When a small animal got sold from the "floor display," We would go back to the backroom to grab an animal to replace that empty spot. I had to deal with that kind of BS for a long time. And, when I would try to HELP these animals by using a seperate enclosure, I would get in trouble. They always said: "I don't care how uncomfortable the animal is. We are trying to SELL them. If you can't follow that rule, then you will be fired." in the end, I quit the day before black friday. I went into the office at the end of my shift, and told them that I was done contributing to their animal abuse. The manager said: "Are you REALLY quitting, when tomorrow is black friday? You do know that we need ALL workers here tomorrow, right?" and I was like "Yes. I'm tired of dealing with your ways, becase you neglect these poor animals in the backroom. Deal with it yourself." I'm now banned from working at ANY PetSmart in the USA.

    This needs more upvotes. A friend of mine wanted to get into hots but they asked for snake handling experience (beyond the one or two that might be kept as pets) to be sure that they weren't getting someone who didn't understand basic requirements (like having to feed mice/rats/pinkies, UVB/heat lamps/heat mats etc) because apparently they had had people who tried to get in with them and got squimish at having to feed an animal to another animal despite the feeder being dead already) but to own level 2 or 3 hots here you have to have at least 6months exp with hots under a mentorship/apprenticeship deal or you can't get your permits. She figured that working at a petstore would be great because animals ....the things they did to small animals there especially the reptiles and small furry creatures... Oh hamster died because of cramped unsanitary conditions? Just feed it to the monitor. Hamster covered in shit because it's packed with a dozen others in a critter keeper and you can't even get your hand in there to clean? Just hold it under the tap...it really is disgusting what goes on in the back

    Sorry to tell you but the petsmart you worked for cared more about customers then the pets. I have a great experience at petsmart and currently work there now. A lot of my coworkers go the extra mile of being educated on all the animals on the floor, they either have them as pets to educate them selfs and or like what I do ,extra research on all the Reptiles/ animals on the floor. It all depends on your co workers. Should of reported it to the number they give you when u first take your test . Also, if I see animals being abused. For example I had the same problem with the hamsters in NA, and What I did was separated no matter what. because it’s all about the animals at the end of the day.

Glad I did my own research on care beforehand or my ball would have died fast.

    As a petsmart associate I do wanna make a few things clear, firstly most of our associates are not trained to educate or take care of our exotic animals, that job goes to a specific group of employees in the petcare department who are trained to meet the care requirements of the other animals in the store. While a cashier or stock associate might know about cats and dogs, if we have a question about pretty much any other kind of animal it goes to the pet care department of the store. That being said, that group of people do care very much for our animals, and we don’t really abide by a lot of things the company itself recommends, for example a trained pet care associate rarely ever actually recommends calcium sand despite our training telling us its ok. The group of employees that you most likely are going to speak with at the store in regards to reptiles generally do have a good education in them, no one really signs up for that position if they aren’t ready to handle the bugs, snakes and reptiles and the care they need. I don’t deny at all that many petsmarts are terrible, but from my own experience I can see it as more of a company issue. As much as associates care of the animals we are often denied essentials such as medications from a vet, proper lighting or even proper food due to managment issues. Hell I’ve even had a coworker buy supplies himself for the animals, not to mention spending a lot of time with customers making sure that they are equipped to getting the animal rather than an impulse buy

  • @vinyl1208

    @vinyl1208

    understandable, but the company being the issue is still. the issue. reptiles are my special interest and because of that i havent shopped at a petsmart/co in about 3 years because i feel really uncomfortable supporting a business that cares so little, even if employees might. and honestly if you care about the quality of them, i would consider finding somewhere else to work (obviously this is exempt if you can't). i just know i specifically didn't apply to either locations because im not comfortable promoting or supporting the company in any way. when a business is as bad and careless as petsmart, employees alone can rarely redeem it

    Same here, I'm an associate and I'm honestly horrified to hear people's bad experiences at petsmart because at our store we actually care like 100%. Even our 2nd in command manager cares a bunch which I feel is rare for people in higher positions. But yea totally agree, were just given basic training but have to research so much to actually give customers better knowledge about animals they're thinking of buying. At this point I think the most aggravating thing is people trying to buy a goldfish to put in a tiny bowl.

    Can confirm, cooking oils are the best way to get an adhesive off of pretty much any animal Coconut oil is probably the safest to use because its the least refined and well known to be beneficial for skincare, but you'd have to heat it up slightly because it's solid at room temperature Other oils work fine too though, ive used corn oil before to free a wild bird from some tape. Also works for rescuing animals from glue traps (please don't use gluetraps whenever possible though because they can be very painful for the animals and they often die of a combination of dehydration and exhaustion while trying to free themselves)

    Jesus Christ is coming soon to rapture his people repent and accept him as Lord and savior. KJV John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condem the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. John 10:27:30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. John 5:22-24 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Titus 3:4-9 But after that the kindness and love of God our savior toward man appeared, Not of works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved. Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 5:6-11 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for the righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Romans 4:5-8 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto the the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also he have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall be made alive. 2 Timothy 1:9-10 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 1Timothy 1:15-16 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me First Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. John 6:28-40 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Galatians 3:24-29 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain Mathew 5:16-19 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandant's, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 Romans 2:11 Romans 12:2-11 John 1:1-14 1 John 5:7 John 8:54-58 Isaiah 53:5-12 Zechariah 12:8-11 Isaiah 7:14 Titus 2:12-14 2 Peter 3:3-10 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 Luke 26-36 Luke 21:25-36 Acts 2:17 Joel 2:28 Amos 3:7 2 Timothy 3:1-7 1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 Revelation 3:10 ❤️🛐✝️🙏🙌🕊️

    do wanna mention that heat lamps should mainly be used for ambient temperature. I have a heat mat but the ceramic bulbs really help with humidity and keep the whole cage warm enough (i live in Minnesota so that's a must)

    I live close to 2 Petco's. One of them has terrible care for leopard geckos, no dusted food, 1 hide, very small tank. The other Petco's reptile department's manager owns reptiles such as Bearded Dragons and Leopard geckos. At that Petco, the food is dusted with calcium, the geckos look very healthy, also, they are in 20 gallon tanks.

    I use a heat lamp for a very limited time plus a heat lamp in the winter. I live in NY state and it get a extremely cold here so it's the only real way to house them sometimes. But I mostly agree that a heat lamp isn't really needed.

    With my leopard geckos i took the sticky thing off of the thermometer and put it on top of the heat mat it’s not always 100% correct (as i use a heat gun to check still) but it’s usually pretty close
