EMPTY POPPED THE FUCK OFF HOLY SHIT space music? more like, space WISARD

Okay so for Nycto's point on the Samplifire remix, Samplifire had the viking sound influence from Berserker in Alliance 6 to Ragnarok. When Ragnarok dropped, Samplifire said it was the end of the "Viking Era". And then after Brute, Samplifire definitely veered off the Viking route while still making some dark offdrops (like in INFEKT, MVRDA and Automhate recent collabs), and his style changed to be more trench-influenced, and sometimes even Square4-esque like Firestorm, the YAKZ & Chibs collabs and of course this remix.

i was kinda sad that each track didn't get their own animatics (that would've been soo sick), but i wasn't mad with what we got as a whole here. some nice variation on display, a bit of a surprise considering Disciple's other remix comps. after careful consideration, i think i have my ratings for each track solidified. *Game On (Decimate Remix) - 6/10* this track sounds really good, especially with the off-drops. it does get pretty dull pretty quickly tho, and the drops are nothing to write home about. i do agree with Extrenor, it's kinda sad that this is the only official Game On remix here. *Be Kind (ECRAZE Remix) - 9.5/10* oh. my god. the energy on this track is insane, and the flow switch-ups throughout the drops just add that extra oomph to this cut. it's huge, it's mad, and it gets ya going! lovely cut here *Be Kind (HAMRO Remix) - 7/10* it's nice and bouncy. das about it. not much notable past that. *Be Kind, Rewind (Calcium Remix) - 9.5/10* this track was a very pleasant surprise! really reminded me of the Dissolve EP like Nycto said (specifically Exquisite with some of the sounds used). that second drop is NUTTY and the off-drops compliment the drops so well. i didn't give it the 10 because of the first drop, it didn't hit nearly as hard as the second one did. overall, amazing job done by the skeleton man! *Be Kind, Rewind (EMORFIK Remix) - 9.75/10* FUCK THIS ONE IS EVIL! i'm an EMORFIK meat rider, but this track is pure riot music. that first fakeout is just... FUCK that's so good. only reason i didn't give it a 10 is because of those generic vocals. it took away from the vibe a bit, and sounded kinda goofy with the rest of the track. overall, this is one i see myself coming back to A LOT. the strait jacket is a nice touch as well, fits the vibe here. *Be Kind, Rewind (Riot Ten Remix) - 0/10* unsurprisingly the worst one on this comp. what sucks is that i feel i would like this more if the mix wasn't so god damn abysmal. this sounds TERRIBLE on headphones. it's squashed to hell and back, as if the mastering chain is just 3 OTTs. it's so loud and so... not at the same time. just meaningless noise. compounding the unoriginal idea, the underwhelming intro, and the copy-paste second drop, i can't find a single redeemable thing about this track. i award it no points. *Feedback (Automhate Remix) - 9/10* super solid cut here. love the metallic drops, especially with the fills. omfg those fills. that Terminator bell pepper is a sick add-on too, one of the reasons i'm bummed each track didn't get their own animatic. no 10 because it does start to drag a bit, but overall i really enjoyed this one. *Feedback (Sora Remix) - 9.5/10* lovely seeing Sora here again! i really like this tune. it's kinda like Sora took HAMRO's idea and tweaked it some, adding some flair to it. it's got bounce, it's got personality, it's got some crazy fills, really good track! *Timekeeper (BAINBRIDGE Remix) - 5/10* i was pleasantly surprised with this cut, but not by much. i do enjoy this track more than some of his other stuff, but this cut doesn't stand out that much. it's fs not bad, just not something i'd remember that well. even while typing this out, i had to go relisten to remind myself which track this was. *Timekeeper (Versa Remix) - 6/10* same gripes as BAINBRIDGE's, which kinda sucks since i was hoping for more from him. also sucks that the only Timekeeper remixes are both pretty forgettable. bonus point here cause of the yippee and the flow. *Internet G (Space Wizard Remix) - 3.5/10* this one just isn't my cup of tea. it's not bad fs, and i can see why others may enjoy it, but it just isn't there for me. the Subtronics vibe is nice, but i feel it leans too much on that vibe. doesn't really stray from that path and do something interesting with the concept. overall, i feel it may take me a bit to come around to this. *Internet G (syzy Remix) - 10/10* AAAAAAAAA I FUCK WITH THIS SO HARD! it's good to hear syzy again, and with such a fat tune as well! the wonky sound design is on point with this one, i wouldn't even take off for a copy-paste drop cause i really enjoy what was given and would gladly go for seconds. the one i came back to the most, and is the first perfect score on this comp. excellent work as always! *Chef's Kiss (BLANKFACE Remix) - 4/10* some decent square-4. nothing special about it. *Chef's Kiss (Samplifire Remix) - 8/10* what i think about this track is p much what Nycto thinks about this track, except i don't think it's that bad. really nice sounds, just not a very original idea. *Take That! (MAD DUBZ Remix) - 7/10* this one was a bit of a letdown. i was hoping for more flair, more pizazz to brighten this track up but we unfortunately didn't get that. not a bad cut at all, just not what i was hoping for. *Take That! (Empty Stomach Remix) - 10/10* MIDTEMPO???? HELL YEA!!!! god this is so fuckin good, and this took me by surprise in the previews. so very well executed, it reminds me a bit of Feed Me's style with a couple extra dashes of attitude. my only gripe is that it's short. had to go look this guy up as soon as i heard it. *Jiggle Jam Jessica Audiffred Remix) - 2/10* i saw a lot of people comparing this to the Riot Ten cut, but i feel this one is far better executed than that garbage. i still don't like it very much, and it does suffer from some of the same problems as Riot Ten's (although to a lesser extent). *Jiggle Jam (Jiqui Remix) - 10/10* a softer, more fun cut to round off the comp! it's got the bounce down to a science, and it flows like water. lovely track, i come back to this a whole lot. overall, this comp is actually really well crafted! not too many duds on this one, and the highs far outshine the lows. also discovered a person from this so that's a plus. i'm going to bed now.

Calcium, Emorfik, Samplifire and Bainbridge stood out for me And the Empty Stomach is grewing on me

The last time I heard anything minimal from Jiqui was a few times when he released his self-release A&B with Space Wizard (No Refunds) and his DRT Vol. 4 (Smack Dat). This one for a remix is a good remix, good subbass and everything in between.

Yeah Syzy, Empty Stomach, and Jiqui are the standouts for me

Ecraze, Calcium, Bainbridge, Syzy, and Empty Stomach's are my favorites out of the whole thing. Not a bad remix comp, but felt disappointed by many names on show

my fave remixes: Riot Ten (fight me) Jessica Audiffred (fight me) Decimate Samplifire Calcium Empty Stomach Space Wizard some other solid, decent, meh and not so great remixes here too but overall i think it was a decent/solid package

EMORFIK, Empty Stomach, Automhate Calcium, ECRAZE and Jiqui's remixes were the absolute best. Specially Empty Stomach. Dude's a beast and really underrated and it saddens me that people only recognize him for the art (which is really good btw) but barely mentions of his music. In fact, he's gonna release his first EP this Friday, so please check him out!

Genuinely a difficult compilation to get through. I'm not fully convinced that wasn't just the same track for about an hour. but that empty stomach remix though...it feels unfair that it's even on the same comp when its just miles above everything else

1; INFEKT - Game On (Decimate Remix) (6.5/10) Yeah, I mean it's not bad it just feels rather plain to me. 2; INFEKT - Be Kind (Rewind) (ECRAZE Remix) (7/10) I need to give this one time to grow on me. Snare is great and I love the general metallic sound of the tune. Sound design sounds super involved and seems to have a lot of replay value. Good stuff from ECRAZE. 3; INFEKT - Be Kind (Rewind) (Hamro Remix) (6/10) Kind of just boring to me. Note pattern isn't interesting, sound isn't interesting, percussion isn't interesting, it's just alright. 4; INFEKT - Be Kind (Rewind) (Calcium Remix) (6/10) I don't have anything bad to say about it, I just don't really like it. Usually Calcium's stuff is super good, but I'm just not a fan of this one. Might grow on me, but I don't think it'll ever get to the point where I put it on my playlist or play it on my own volition. 5; INFEKT - Be Kind (Rewind) (Emorfik Remix) (5/10) I've heard this tearout a thousand times before. It's getting really old, man. From what I'm hearing, there is nothing special. It sounds like new-age MARAUDA without the MARAUDA. Might grow on me too, but I'm having a visceral first reaction and it's not a good one. Disappointment with a side of eye-roll. 6; INFEKT - Be Kind (Rewind) (Riot Ten Remix) (8.5/10) Ok I know it seems weird to score so high after grilling the hell out of Emorfik's remix, but I feel like this one gets overhated. The mixing is questionable, but it's interesting. The flow is fast and hard, the percussion does it's job (kinda) and I like the background "AH AH AH" or whatever it is. The machine gun basses have GRIT too. Definitely not the best execution of this kind of tearout but I definitely think it stands out more than people give it credit for. The percussion, while it does its job, does it on the lower end of it. Minimal effort, if you will. The snare is just barely enough to where if you're just listening to it, it's not a glaring issue, but if you really analyze it, it really leaves you wishing it had a harder hit to it. This song is mid on every objective front, but I think in composition Riot Ten put together something interesting. Definitely doesn't sound like Subsidia music to me, at least. 7; INFEKT - Feedback (Automhate Remix) (9/10) Yeah, I mean it's Automhate. Love that fakeout that sounds like it's giving feedback. A nice, metallic, stompy tune from Automhate. Nothing to blow you away with ideas but the execution is where it's all at. Definitely feels like a dubstep song made from a malfunctioning artificial intelligence, which sounds really freakin' sweet if you ask me. Good stuff Automhate. 👍 8; INFEKT - Feedback (Sora Remix) (7/10) Not bad, but I only really like this kind of riddim when it's done by MAD DUBZ. Definitely agree with Extrenor's analysis of this song. Not bad, but it feels bare. Though I do love that little ring in the background every eight bars or so. Not bad, but I wouldn't put it on my playlist. 9; INFEKT - Timekeeper (Bainbridge Remix) (4/10) I just don't like Bainbridge. Out of every tune he's released on Disciple I'm pretty sure like, three were good and they were Cloak & Dagger, Raver's Anthem and Sorcery Syndicate, and even then, I don't know if they belong on my playlist. Cloak & Dagger is only there purely because of the BEAUTIFUL intro, whereas the drop just feels off. Definitely feels like something I could let grow on me, which just for the intro I'd love to do, but it doesn't strike me yet. Raver's Anthem is actually just interesting, but I'll probably never listen to it because interesting is really all it is. I don't even know why Sorcery Syndicate is on my playlist to begin with (Just figured out it's because of the second drop which is actually kinda heat but still nothing that really speaks to me). To put all of this into short, I can't stand Bainbridge. Yet to hear a song that doesn't sound like every other Round Table release (which you know how I feel about that). 10; INFEKT - Timekeeper (Versa Remix) (5/10) It's boring and barebones. Hardly any sound layering going on; just the main lead, the alarm sound, the bass, the drums and that's it. No good from me. 11; INFEKT - Internet G (Space Wizard Remix) (5/10) I don't have anything bad, or good, to say about it. Mostly it's just not really for me. I like the _idea_ of it, but I feel like the execution is too slow paced and boring. I really do like the part where it picks up the pace in this preview though. That's a fun switch. 12; INFEKT - Internet G (SYZY Remix) (9/10) YEAH! SYZY!!!! To be honest, it sounds vaguely familiar like he gave it the ol' reliable of just taking one of his older songs and making it sound just barely different, but I'll let it slide since it's SYZY. Love the fun metallic sound that he always goes for, and the percussion is super on point. Hope he starts producing more frequently, I miss his sound. It's just nice, sharp, squeaky and all around well made and produced. Super fun. 13; INFEKT - Chef's Kiss (Blankface Remix) (7.5/10) Nothing special at _all... ...buuuut_ I do have a small weakness for simple flow riddim like this. The percussion keeps a good timer going on and the basses feel like it's a wave going in then going out over and over again. Wish it was more interesting but it's definitely nice to hear, even though it probably won't end up on my playlist. 14; INFEKT - Chef's Kiss (SampliFire Remix) (8.5/10) ENERGY AND FLOW IS NUTS ON THIS! Though that often seems to be the SampliFire trademark. Amazing sound design; sounds nice and full to give it great replayability. Also, the percussion is right on; fits the sound of the tune to a T. Also, as already mentioned, the energy and flow on this tune is absolutely mental. This is exactly what I was talking about with the Space Wizard remix. If it had this kind of energy and flow to it that song would be a 10 or at the very least up there with this tune, but it was just so damn slow. Amazing stuff from SampliFire here. 15; INFEKT - Take That! (MAD DUBZ Remix) (6/10) This seems to be a thing MAD DUBZ is doing a more of and I'm not a fan. It's just kind of basic "Wub wub wub wub" and repeat type riddim and it's not good in my opinion; gets way too repetitive and lacks replayability. I think that style of riddim is possible to execute, it's not a style issue, it's just I don't like how MAD DUBZ does it. To execute a style that's by design repetitive, you have to add little background details to make your tune stands out from the rest of them. This doesn't really do that, or at least not enough of it, for me. I like his more creative stuff like LUVLEE, DN, and Classic. Anyway, I do love the fakeout on the tune, but that stuttering is nowhere to be found in the actual drop which is really disappointing. That alone would have bumped up the score to a 7 or so. 16; INFEKT - Take That (Empty Stomach Remix) (7.5/10) Now, right off the bat, this might grow on me. However, on first listen it feels off. I don't really like the main lead, sounds kinda gross to be honest. The percussion, and I rarely ever say this, is _WAAAAY_ too heavy for what is happening with the rest of the song. To me it doesn't sound like there's enough else going on to make the percussion fit into the song, so it just sounds too loud and out of place. I do love the slow pace of it, though. Slow and methodical _can_ work, it's just more often done in a much heavier environment which is why stuff like Space Wizard's remix still doesn't hit the spot for me. Maybe I just need to let it grow on me but that's my first impression. 17; INFEKT - Jiggle Jam (Jessica Audiffred Remix) (bleh/10) bleh (snare is good) 18; INFEKT - Jiggle Jam (Jiqui remix) (6.5/10) It is fun, I suppose, but it's not my kind of music. I wouldn't listen to it. Overall, honestly a pretty mid compilation. Some stand out, but most are boring and repetitive. For me, my favourite would either be SYZY's remix or Automhates, or even Riot Ten's if it grows on me any more. Least favourite is Bainbridge Remix. Also, for Nycto, a mushroom is indeed a vegetable.
