I swear I heard somewhere that they were based off Christmas tree ornaments, especially where in some of the artwork the stem is silver instead of green, it's the little loop where you hang it up. I’m very confused. He is in quarantine during this video but has a ton of fresh fruit??? He’s American so he either was on quarantine for exposure or being Covid positive, in which case he shouldn’t have left his house as that’s a public safety hazard. Or, more likely, (if he was positive or exposed my bad I don’t regularly watch his content obviously) he is simply using the term quarantine to be overly dramatic, like most Americans. In which case whut, America barely had a lockdown, don’t whine about “quarantine”. Go for a walk, touch some grass, then play video games. Just because there’s a pandemic and people WANT you to entertain yourself and stay close to home, doesn’t mean you need to dramatize it and suddenly act like it makes you delirious and stir crazy 😜

25:20 Actually, Miracle fruit is a real thing. The name is shared between three different plants, all of them having interesting properties in regards to sweetness. Judging by the shape, it's probably meant to be -Synsepalum dulcificum-, only green as opposed to it's usual reddish colour. It contains a compound called Miraculin (Yes, that's the actually the name of it), that is able to make it so sour things taste sweet temporarily by binding to your tastebuds, which is referenced in the Micle Berry's Gen 4 description: "This berry has a very dry flavor. It has the effect of making other food eaten at the same time taste sweet." I have absolutely no clue how this relates to accuracy though.

It binds itself to a specific receptor for sweetness (your taste buds have various numerous different kinds of receptors for even each taste) and it only makes them activate when acid is present. Acids are generally sour to us so eating something sour gets acid, and acid activates those messed up receptors causing you to taste sweetness

"Miracle fruit" is a name commonly associated with Synsepalum dulcificum, which when eaten, turns sour foods sweet by altering taste buds. I think the Micle Berry's effect is loosely derived from this, where the effect is not immediate, only subsequent: where the miracle fruit has an sweetening effect on the next fruit eaten, the Micle Berry increases the accuracy of the next move used.

Pokemon's Miracle Berry is actually based directly on a real berry of the same name, size, and shape with the only differences being in colour and actual effects. According to Wikipedia: "Synsepalum dulcificum is a plant known for its berry that, when eaten, causes sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. This effect is due to miraculin. Common names for this species and its berry include miracle fruit,[2] miracle berry, miraculous berry,[2] sweet berry,[3][4][5] and in West Africa, where the species originates, agbayun,[6] taami, asaa, and ledidi."

This is why I love Pokemon. Learning about what things are based on, you learn about things in real life and try new things you haven't before. I actually really love dragon fruit. They are incredibly expensive and hard to find, but they are incredibly amazing fruits. They do have an underwhelming taste, but I like the mild sweetness. But for a regular fruit, I go ham on raspberries. Those suckers are so freaking good I could eat them all day.
