I made 6 bows in 2023, 5 long bows and one recurve bow. This is my notes on what designs I liked and what I didn’t.

You are such a good archer I don’t think I could hit that bear from any of the distances you showed

Nice work, in a particularly challenging place for a bowyer to live. Glad that the birch worked for you, always great to use a wood from the area you live. Cool to see the progression throughout the year. For more design ideas from areas like Alaska using some unique materials, try checking out "Arctic Bowyery: The Use of Compression Wood in Bows in the Subarctic and Arctic Regions of Eurasia and America" by Marcus Lepola sometime if you haven't. The things people have come up with to make effective bows in the far north are truly fascinating. Have fun with the snowshoes, I always loved hunting them in the UP when I was up there.

Surprised you didn't rate them as per the scoring scale. 😉 Pretty tidy group you shot looks about minute of bird or hare. Learning by getting stuck in is great there's always a better build around the corner. I approve of your disapproving face.

Very nice. What is the purpose of the loose strands of string at the top of the bow? Decorative? Skal

I just haven’t trimmed the home made string on that bow. No purpose.

I wondered about that. Perhaps you can attach a feather and some beads? Lol, Skal.
