My cat got into chocolate covered coffee beans when she was a kitten. Ever since then she loves coffee. She goes crazy for coffee grounds and the residue in my coffee cup. She hates cat nip but loves coffee. She is so weird. She is 16 and it hasnt harmed her yet. Lol.

I never thought much about the 1800's I more or less love the 1930' and 1940's and collecting from that time period. But, you have broaden my scope to dive into other time periods in American History.

I had a Springer Spaniel that loved coffee... I'd drink coffee while waiting for the bus to pick up my son, and I swear when I would come back in, there would be a lot less....I finally caught her one day as I snuck in the backdoor... the expression on that dog's face when she was caught.. was priceless 🤣

I'm THRILLED with the writing box!! I do calligraphy & collect nibs, fountain pens, ink, papers etc. (And all art drawing & painting mediums). I have always wanted a historic writing box like this. I have a more modern portable easel but something like this would be so wonderful to have. What a find! LOVE IT!

We actually just came back from our 32nd wedding anniversary celebration. May 2 was 32 years! In no time you guys will be celebrating that as well!

In Martha Washington: An American Life, author Patricia Brady tells us that dance instructors made the rounds to the plantations just before the party/ball season began. He would stay a week or two and teach all the young folks the latest steps so they would know what to do when the time came.

I’m thinking the metal box with the four locks could have been used for storing tulip bulbs for transport. Bulb prices got very crazy during early 17th century “tulip mania”. Red white and blue are also colors of the Dutch flag. There is a tulip on the box which is suggestive. It would be exciting if that was the function of the box. A piece of history.

Another excellent find . The box is quite interesting. It’s in great shape for being so old . I’m looking forward to the wedding especially with the folks from The Woodland Escape. And rose gold is stunning. Really happy for you both.

The box has Tudor roses. The Tudor rose is the symbol of the English house of Lancaster and York. It goes back to the 1400s. It was also the symbol of Henry VIII. He died in 1547.

From what I researched on this; it is indeed a dowry/marriage box. The ones I found were from the 1700's - 1800's. I used google lens to take a photo of the chest. The chests did have family crests from both sides; and the ones I found were all sold. (Dont know how much $$ they sold for though. Probably a heck of a lot.) Beautiful chests though, very ornate. ❤

Perhaps the brass fittings were made for each box, which is why they are all different. Writing and dip pins are a lot of fun. Maybe Ron can make a replica box that you can set up with period paper, inks, pens and a seal etc.. Possibly with less elaborate brass work. Then you can correspond with friends and maybe fans and check out period writing fonts and stuff? Maybe a video with ink making recipes?

I’m from Rhode Island originally and we live on coffee ice cream there (And as a kid I would never drink milk without coffee syrup in it!😂). Love it!!! Can’t wait to try the coffee pie! That museum box appears to me to be western European. A date of 1600-1610 puts it at the end of the Renaissance. Nice box for sure, from the era of English Puritans, civil war, late reformation, etc.
