Demo’d the 98 Vcore - what a racket. Was not expecting that amount of control. Plenty of comfort too.
Very nice review, though now I am again looking try a new frame (will this ever end haha ?) In the old 21 model (98) I don't feel the ball as I would like, especially drop and finesse shots. Spin is there but bit erratic at times. Too muted and overall stiffer frame than I would like it. Serve feels a bit blind, muted feel. Backspins are usually coming out with a higher launch angle than I expected. Love it in control department though, and the power/control balance it had. Heavyness of balls and stability against heavy balls also I like. I ended up using the ezone 98 with more ease and confidence, though less stable against heavy balls and not very spinny. So looks this 23 model is definitely a must try for me because seems to be little closer to ezone's flex parameters without sacrificing any control and spin from 21 model. More feeling for the ball on strings, more pocketing, flexier frame is exactly what the 21 model lacks more in my taste.
Thanks for the review. I ended up getting the VCore 98. I’ve recently got back into tennis last month after about a 5 year break (mostly playing squash the last few years). I absolutely love the VCore. It has quite of bit of power so I really need to focus on my forehand technique to dial in the big hits. I get a lot of spraying past the baseline because my follow through on forehand needs improvement to generate consistent top spin. My serves, slices, volleys, and drop shots feel absolutely amazing with this racquet.

It’s a great choice of racket for sure! You can try more of a control string to help control. I like resting sync in it. When it comes to generating topspin, follow through is only part of the equation. Check out our video on how to create massive topspin! Cheers, Josh
Racket looking fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great review! Nice to get each testers perspective as well as comparisons with other similar rackets. I have used last 2 generations of VC98 and loved it. Sometimes I hit a little long so tried the new Ezone 98 '22 and it swung much faster thru the air for me, providing me with more maneuverability, precision and loads of angles. However, the ball was NOT as heavy as VC98 and perhaps due to swinging faster it was bothering my arm a bit. So my Q is how is the comfort of the new Vcore compared to the '21 and the Ezone? Thanks!

Love the comment Gabriel! The VCORE is very, very comfortable. Sounds like the 98 might be the one for you

Great review. What tension did you string the 98 at?

Hello, nice video. In terms of control, maneuverability and arm comfort (I have some elbow problems) which racket is better Vcore 98 2023 or Tecnifibre Iso 305? Your answer is important for me thanks

We couldn't possibly say sight unseen. There are far too many variables. Tennis Elbow could be a consequence of string type / tension, grip size, grip quality. The weight of the particular frame. Your posture, muscle imbalances or general technique. That being said. The vCore has a thicker frame, so is likely to be more comfortable and absorb more shock. Whereas the Isoflex is more manoeuvrable. Give them both a try / make sure all the other variables are appropriate.
I’ve been using the Pro Staff 95s for about 9 years now. I’ve loved it but they quit making them almost the day I started buying them. I’m down to my last two functioning rackets so I’m in the market to buy a couple of new rackets. The two biggest obstacles have been, getting the demos in and the sheer number of the varieties of each racket on the market. 95, 98, 100, S, L, pro… etc…and all the combinations of those head sizes and letters and lest we forget the different year “additions” too. It’s practically impossible to test them all in any reasonable manner. I’m a 4.5 level player who plays with heavy topspin and moderate power. I’ve tried 3 rackets so far, two Yonex and a Babolat, that were supposed to be “spin friendly” but I didn’t think so after trying them. This process has been frustrating mainly due to the manufacturers over eagerness to be everything to everybody. Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated.

@@thelonelydekuscrub4817 thanks. The Aero is on my list of rackets to try. The one I did try was the Pure Drive. It was way too light for me. I felt like I had to really grip it hard and swing hard to achieve any power. My Pro Staff gives me decent power without as much effort and amazing spin. I don’t feel like I’ve had a good session if at least one player at the net pulls their racket down only to watch my shot drop inside the baseline.
Hi Guys! Would you recommend it for one-handed backhand? I don't know whether to go for this or a percept. I come from a Head Liquidmetal Prestige, I returned to tennis after a long time and I want to change it for something easier to play.
Which model of the new VCores do you guys prefer? How are they with one-hander? Flat and touch shots? And do any of them beat out the Extreme auxetic MP?

Hi John, Both really good rackets so very much depends on personal preference. We strongly suggest trying them both and seeing which one feels better for you. 98 more control - 100 more power. No difference for a one or two hander, more dependant on play style. We were pretty split to be honest as we love the Extreme but these were both great too. Fortunately, this means it's hard to go wrong!
Looks great, when do the lighter weights come out?

I’m currently using a prince twistpower x100 tour with v-square at around 50lbs. I’m looking for more spin, control and maybe feel. I have a semi western forehand grip and a 4.0 player. Should I get the Vcore 100 or 98?
@ph-tennis
Жыл бұрын
Both 98 and 100 are excellent but if you want more control then go 98, if you'd like a little extra power, then 100.
I currently have a Vcore 100 2019. I picked up a 98 Ezone 2022 to try and loved it. Power/control were fantastic and loved the feeling. Seemed quite solid compared to my Vcore. Does the new 2023 Vcore feel more like an Ezone now?
@ph-tennis

The 100 is definitely closer to an Ezone than the 98 and has that same solid feeling. Worth trying them side by side as it’ll be down to personal preference

@@ph-tennis I ended up selling the Ezone 98 (hurt my elbow) and sticking with the Vcore 100. So far it's been great even though it lacks some control. Do you think there is a significant difference for control between that and the 98 or just some? Also, any suggestions on controlling the crazy launch angle?
@TomasLonGo

Moved from an ezone 98 to the new vcore 98. It was exactly what I was looking for. The vcore is a harder to play racket. Seems to have a smaller sweet spot, much higher launch angle, and it seems heavier in the hand. However, it gives me a much bigger ball pocketing, specially on slices and on my 1handed backhand, I can feel the ball much more. On my forehand, I do feel like the ball stays in the racket longer, but it's also a "all or nothing" kind of racket. If you swing fast and if you go for it, it will reward you, but as a recreational player, every time I play a bit slower or a bit more "scared", my shots are all over the place. Just my 2 cents
In your opinion, if you had to choose one YONEX racquet to go to battle with for DOUBLES only, which would you choose? Would that change if you were 65 years old? I would be grateful for your thoughts.

Hi Mark - that an interesting (and tricky) question! Regardless of age, if you can handle the heavier weight then the Ezone Tour and VCore Pro are fantastic to volley with - obviously useful for doubles - but the whole range has enough stability. If you prefer to stay back and play from the back then the VCore might be what you’re looking for. For what it’s worth, we did a poll across our team of coaches and the very narrow winner was the Ezone. You can’t say we’re not thorough! 😀

@@ph-tennis I would love to see a video on this subject. You see why I asked - it is a "tricky question". I was personally confused by which racquet to chose as a 65 year old 5.0 all-court doubles specialist.It's hard for the average player to demo every racquet in the Yonex line - although you have. That is why I asked. Thank you for your input.
How compare Vcore98 and VcorePro100 ? Control\power? Forgiviness? Maneuverability ? I am thinking change my green VcorePro100 for a red Vcore.

Very different rackets! vCore (Red) - more power, more spin, more comfort vCore Pro (Gren) - more manoeuvrable, more precision
How does this new Vcore 100 compare to Ezone 100? Which is more comfortable with a multi on it? I am looking for a new raquet and I don't have an option to test one, so I am looking at the ezone 100 and vcore100.

@ph-tennis

@@cagr9394 I would recommend two of the same racket if I’m honest! While these rackets are similar, I wouldn’t choose to swap between different rackets during a match (if a string breaks for example).
What string is good for that Racket please.
@ph-tennis

We strung with Yonex Poly Tour Pro and it plays beautifully. There’s something to be said for matching the racket with the manufacturers recommendation as often testing has been done with that string. Luxilon 4G soft is our current favourite string and that would work brilliantly too
how would you compare the power of the vcore 98 vs blade v8
@ph-tennis
Жыл бұрын
Blade much easier to manoeuvre so if you have a particularly fast/whippy/wristy technique you may get more ball speed out of the Blade. But in relative terms the vCore is a more powerful racket for sure.

Hi, currently I’m using PS97 315, gonna get my new racket but still confusing whether I’m going with the Vcore or the Ezone? Which one is better for baseliner and for maneuverability as I feel a bit uncomfortable using my current racket. Thank you guys 🤝

Hi! Thanks for the comment. I would say that either racket will feel considerably easier than the PS. If you want easy access to power, go Ezone. But, if you’re looking to get more control then the VCORE is perhaps preferable. They’re both good from all round the court. If you can, demo them both!

Yes we have. It plays exactly as expected. Even more control than the 98. As with all smaller head rackets. Harder to use, but more rewarding if used well.
