Pick up Xenoblade Chronicles X on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Xenoblade-Chron...
Wow! This video was a lot longer than expected! I had to cut so much out to keep it under 20 minutes! I wanted to do a lot more comparisons between XCX and XC. In addition some extra interface features I didn't enjoy.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed this video! :)

Also Lady Pelvic, how did you feel about the side quests and the social issues they brought up, such as betrayal, greed, racism and murder! I loved them personally, and I even kept a running score for all the NPCs that were killed in my wake, spoiler, bodies hit the floor.

+Big Z I liked the side quests that had thought put into them. One of my favorite side quests is when you're sent to exterminate some baby monsters, but the mother monster goes to stop you, you kill the mother and then realize she was only protecting her kids THEN you have the option to kill her babies. I like how they showed the progressive struggle of co-existing.

One of my favorite things about the game was you getting to pick what food to eat between story chapters. It was such a small thing, and largely to set up some gags, but it was still such a cute touch. I also loved the one alien race that was obsessed with frozen pizzas. me too, aliens, me too.

It's insane how much information you were able to get out in under 17 minutes. Takes me 15 minutes just to say hello. I disagree with you on the story I really liked it and was a great throwback to xenogears and xenosaga epically the end game twist on elma Huge throwback to kosmos to xenosaga. a lot of the real story and character development is hidden away in affinity missions and red question marked side quests. if you don't know tetsuya takashki (game creator and monolithsoft director) has been trying to make a game trilogy for years now with examples being xenogears and xenosaga but were cut short due to the publishers (square and namco) xenoblade chronicles was a experiment for monolithsoft to break out of their Si-Fi shell and try something new (this new bing fantasy) After the great reception from the first xenoblade nintendo had more faith in the company prompting them to give them a higher budget and takashki felt as if nintendo was their home for good now thus giving him the confidence to start another trilogy. in an interview Takashki said that X was a developmental experiment as X would be their first HD game and they wanted to figure out how to make a big complex world before making a grand story to complement it second. in other words this games story is pretty much a part one to a whole trilogy and if you haven't done so yet I'd advise you go back and do every affinity mission as you can as the next game will probably figure that you did already. great Review tho!

I put a ton of time into this game, too. It's a great setting, Monolith are so good at making a world that looks lived in, but this game is soooooooo dense with content. It feels like there's always so much more. I will say, with all of the games out there that put obnoxious waist-high fences and otherwise stop your mobility, it is soooo fun to run and leap huge distances in this game.

Very nice review! I like it you compare this game with the original XBC for Wii, because I love that game and just a handful of people know it, specially here in Brazil. About the game (XBX), I think the main issue people have with the story is the change of perspective and scope. I'm not criticizing or anything, I'm just saying that not being the special one, with a special weapon who needs to defeat the ultimate villain may have been a major turn off to some people. I personally like this change, it felt refreshing for me. Another thing I love about this game is how it works for different kind of players: if you wanna rush the story you will have a 60-80 hour run through, with 8 playable characters, 4 AMs, not being able to change your avatar and placing extra slots in your weapon. But if you wanna see it all, my friend, the game challenges you the most. I was really positively surprised with some affinity quests storylines, take Hope's for example. And the post-game mechanic is just too good. I mean, I don't like when games have "new game plus" features, I just feel dumb doing the same things, going to the same places only 70 levels higher. Makes no sense to me. But after you complete the main story in XBX you still got the whole planet Mira to explore, and many side quests to solve, items to develop, etc. Simple concept, but works perfectly for me. As for your question about games that opened horizons, mine was Deus Ex (the original game, released for PC in 2000, I think). I would strongly recommend it to you as well since you are willing to go deeper on Sci-fi. It's a cyberpunk RPG/FPS game (believe me, it works perfectly) with deep story and great philosophical, ethical, moral and political questions. There's also many ways to complete quests (you can complete the game without killing anyone, for example). In my opinion, it is the best game I ever played.

Awesome video! This definitely the best looking game on the Wii U! Played a little bit of it but could'nt get into it easily. Akso find the battle system kind of wierd. Gonna have to get back to it at some point. Great review! In terms of a game that broadened my horizons, Persona 4 Golden! I was never really a big JRPG fan until I played Persona 4. An 8/10 feels right to me. My take on Xenoblade X - as a story, it's wafer thin. As a game, it's frequently clunky and aggravating. But as a virtual space to inhabit? Superlative. Mindblowing. The standard other games ought to aspire to. The five continents of Mira are spectacular, vast, dynamic, mysterious, atmospheric, perilous and beautiful. I've never played another game with a world which felt so exciting just to *exist* in. The idea that Monolith might bring that feeling to a more conventionally narrative-driven game in Xenoblade 2 makes me weak at the knees.

Great review! I liked MOST of the soundtrack/music too, it was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano who is pretty well known for his anime stuff! (Attack on Titan, Aldnoah Zero, Kill la Kill) Because of his particular sound certain fights felt like anime battles to me, especially with how your party is constantly talking to each other mid-fight. Which Xenoblade would you recommend playing first? I highly recommend the Mass Effect Trilogy! A quick word of advice though if you do tackle it... The first game can come off a little archaic in its combat system but stick with it as its very rewarding. Also I recommend playing a soldier with assault rifles to make that first play through easier. And it will also allow you to max that weapon out so you can use it with other classes, should you choose to play a second time. By the time you get to the 3rd game make sure to download the extended ending. I also highly recommend playing all 3 and not skipping the first 2 games as there are so many choices you will make that show up in the next installment both big and small. If you go the dark horse comics route, you will make basic choices and miss a lot. One of my all time favorite RPG's! Play it on PC or 360 if you can. PS3 had some serious frame rate issues in the first game and some annoying sound glitches in the 2nd game. I will be looking forward to a review!

+Shawn Cotnam Hmmm... If you want amazing everything then Xenoblade Chronicles... but if you place Xenoblade Chronicles before Xenoblade Chronicles X you're gonna be dissapointed in the story. Cause XCX story was weak sauce. XCX overall isn't a bad game but coming from XC it's certainly fell back. I hear it's great! I really do. And thanks for the tips cause I have no idea what I'm getting into with Mass Effect. Sadly I'm not into PC gaming for the most part. And same with xbox so I'm suck with PS3! Maybe they'll fix it and port to PS4? Since it's pretty much the time of the remakes/remasters...

I think the ending felt a little bit like Mass Effect 3's ending (PLAY THAT TRILOGY). I'm looking forward to the sequel not because of the story because I'm betting it'll be on Nintendo next console, and if they managed to make that massive and badass an open world to explore on the Wii U, I can't WAIT to see what Monolith does with some much stronger hardware. As for a game that made me broaden my horizons, I'd say Forza 4. It made me less immediately turn away from driving sims. I'm not a car guy, so I never really cared much, but when I played that (it came with my Xbox 360) and was able to upgrade a Ford Fiesta identical to mine to the point where I was out running Corvettes, I decided that maybe they're not all that bad. =P

Great review. I'm still in the middle of playing but here are my thoughts on it so far. Gameplay: Way more complicated the Xenoblade chronicles. You're not kidding when you say you have to read the manual because the game will tell you very little. I still find myself going to it sometimes, but after a while you start to understand how it works, and that's when the game becomes more enjoyable. And then you finally get a skell and you have to go back and read more shit off the manual. It took forever for me to find how to get my skell back when it was destroyed, but the skell it extremely powerful and much better off using that more often. There are way too many playable characters. I don't want to keep track of everyone's arts and clothes so I just found myself using a few of them in the end. I think the class system was really cool since you were able to change your class at anytime. Being able to customize your character so much is really enjoyable. I especially love being able to have fashion equipment over you're normal equipment. I just like having people to have matching clothes on, or look cool/sexy, so with fashion eqipment you can do all that while having the best stuff on. Customizing your skell is also pretty fun to do. Story: It's eh so far. I only just completed chapter 8, so I don't know everything, but Xenoblade chronicles does have a better story. I hate the silence protagonist thing though. It's cool being able to make you're own character and all, but I would much rather have an actual character that is able to interact with the other character through actual dialogue and saying the character's name. The other characters don't even mention your gender. They just say "rookie" or say "so what do you think". I find it really annoying. Environment: This is definetly the best part of the game. The background and enemies are very cool. Sometimes I didn't even mind running around so much because everything was so cool to look at, and when you get your skell finally, it becomes even easier to just enjoy everything. The graphics are good, but not the best when you compare it to stuff on the Playstation or Xbox, especially when it comes to the character models. I saw many reused animation and the mouth animations were not great. The music is alright, but nothing too spectacular. Overall, I would give this game a 7/10. Good, but not great. Probably won't replay it anytime soon.

On a side note if anyone's played Xenosaga for the PS2, that franchise had 3 games in the series, so it kind of didn't surprise me that with X as well as the story revelations, that they wouldn't to expand this series further.

Glad I clicked on this recommended video. Loved your review and I liked your take on each of the games' elements. Like you, I thoroughly enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles. I may never replay that sucker, but the 100+ hrs into it will make me never forget the game. So I had to play XCX. Though I knew it would be more open world then XC. And yes. The story was lacking... everywhere. Really it reminded me of that animated movie Titan AE. Aliens are hunting us because... reasons. Scifi. Mechs. DO STUFF! =p Too many characters. No real development with them or the bad guys. The combat, world, and monsters. Awesome! And although the quests were grindy, I enjoyed doing more because exploring was FUN to do! Especially mapping out each segment. Got chills listening to nighttime Sylvalum. Had fun circumventing large monsters to get to new territory. Then you get a mech and I can jump all the places! Then you can fly! 0_o It was nice to get those boosts to exploration. But I wish that the characters and the story were more tied into where I (what level I) was in the game. Missed the 'on-rails' nature of linear JRPGS like the XC had. But ya. Loved your review and now gotta check out your other reviews (I spy a Zestiria review over there >_>). Amazing video as usual👏 I think Xenoblade Chronicles X looks cool, but I wouldn't spend my time on it. I don't have that much time anymore, so when it comes to RPG's, I either play the familiar franchises or the games I'm sure will be awesome. Again, game sounds cool, but time-consuming and I'm not gonna waste my time on this one. I'm playing Final Fantasy Type-0 right now, great game so far. Would recommend it if you have a PS4 or XBO. Definitely would recommend Mass Effect to you as well! The genre that I wasn't into, was the FPS genre....until that first Bioshock dropped. That game is a masterpiece. The whole franchise is amazing, even its DLC Minerva's Den and Burial at Sea tying the franchise together. I appreciate the genre a lot more now. The potential that genre has is incredible! Anyhow, Interesting to hear you do Bayonetta. Only played and finished the first one, still need to play the second one damn....

+Turan “From38” X FF-0 is good? I heard a lot of mixed things so ...that's why I'm debating on playing it or not... It looked great in the trailers...but at the same time..mmmmmeh. Oh Mass Effect...everyone says it great... I maaaay look into it...slowly breaking down that sci-fi barrier... Bioshock is too scary for me.I really like the story though. (I researched~!) Right now I'm playing PW: Dual Destinies/ Undertale, THEN I'm hoping into Bayonetta 2! :B

Pelvic Gaming If I recall correctly, the reviews for Type-0 were positive. Don't remember a negative review, but I could be wrong. I think the game is very fun, no problems whatsoever. It's all about setting your expectations at the right level. I mean it's a remastered PSP game, so expecting a true Final Fantasy game is unrealistic. I would definitely recommend you breaking that 'fear for scary games' barrier and playing all of the Bioshock games, but seeing as how you know all of its story, the impact of the games is somewhat diminished. Still, the atmosphere in the games is enough to keep you going. I'm interested in Undertale as well, I hope it comes to consoles so I can play it as well.

+Pelvic Gaming personal exp on type zero. Don't waste your money. I got more enjoyment out of the demo I got with it. If you think Xenoblade Chronicles X has a bad story and not a good cast, wait for type zero to show you how bland a FF game can get. There are 15 characters and there is very tiny amount of backstory or info to any of them. story is also spread really thin. Its a PSP game and also behaves like one with funky controls and lots of tiny maps. There is an overworld, but You can only do 1 sidequest at a time and its just as generic as Xenoblade Chronicles X blade board quests, except you can only take 1 with you out into the world..... Its structured similar to Xenoblade Chronicles X in that the game progresses with main quests that take you through gauntlets of enemies. Except this time we have game mechanics that can make the game frustrating to play, like bosses with patterns you cannot plan for, ever. even if you adapt to the pattern, its a anti-climax how the game proceeds with each plot point. I stopped 25 hours in out of boredom.

Ozzhiroth Gigliotti Your point is understandable, but I get the feeling you had high expectations and you paid a lot of money for it. I only paid 20 bucks and got the Episode Duscae demo alongside it. Just like you said, it's a PSP game and if you put your mind to it, it's an incredible PSP game. Converting that to the PS4 will always fall short of what other JRPG's on the PS4/PS3 etc. look and play like. I think Square-Enix did their best in remastering this PSP game. I did like Crisis Core better in its story and characters, but that game was more linear and had a very basic gameplay. I think Type-0's gameplay defeats the gameplay in Crisis Core. All in all, you just have to know what you're getting into.

Turan X no no no. Type zero is a pathetic exp compared to even FF13.... that is sad. it is the most boring FF I have even played, despite not being turn based in the slightest or using a slow battle system. Its just boring and extremely cliched, and depressingly bad, its no wonder Square didnt want to give it to us, much like FF3 NES, its a poorly made disgrace.

Great review, I actually like the story of XCX, especially when compared to the cheesy anime mess that is the XC2 story and the side quests are the best in the series hands down. I also think Elma is the best Xenoblade character in the series (mostly because she actually seams like a competent mature adult/leader which is rare in JRPGs). I really want a remaster (and sequel) of this game because I could easily spend another 500 hours in this brilliantly designed world.

Its funny how you ask what game opened us up to new things AND mentioned you don't like sci-fi bc...I don't like sci-fi either BUT...Dead Space opened me up to it. That game did such an incredible job creating a believable future and situation. It somehow fused horror (my fave game genre) and sci fi (2nd least fave theme, fantasy being my absolute least fave) in a way that was not only scary and effective...but also just immersive and enjoyable as all hell. The series started jumping the shark as soon as the sequel imo (Extraction on the Wii/PS3 is really good though) but man that first one is just SO damn spectacular and really allowed me to give sci-fi a fair shake. All that being said...thanks for reviewing Xenoblade Chronicles X bc...I just couldn't ever bring myself to play this thing. Its too big, too long, just too TOO. Haha just way to much going on. If Ima play any Xeno game it'll be Chronicles 1 on the 3DS...for some reason I'm real interested in a downgraded version. Haha

Also, the game that made me change my perspective of games, was Metal Gear Solid. I was like... 11 or 12 the first time I played MGS. I was more of a RPG kid (FFVII, Legend of Dragoon, Pokemon) and 3D platformers on the N64, but that game made me apreciate a more mature kind of game (that scared me before)

Xenosaga definitely expanded my sci-fi field. The terminology, along with the themes, etc. etc. Awesome. The first game was a great way to introduce the series. The second game was rushed and bad. Thankfully, the DS cover of both games made it a little bearable - if only I can find a translated MOD. The third game, whereas it was rushed, it definitely filled in a lot of loose ends the second game left open. They even give you documents to read after the ending to learn everything that happens after the credits roll. I really wish it could have gone its six game plan, but Namco will be Namco.

In terms of story telling, nothing has opened my eyes and my mind like Legend of heroes has so much so, that the kind of lore and world building depicted in these games is on such a massive scale, that its still ongoing with an overarching narrative with 9+ games at currently around 80% complete, plot twists, revelations, story telling, diverse characters, the detail of the lore is so rich that it could be equivalent to like Middle earth lore from J.R.R Tolkien. This is not something like kingdom hearts where its like segmented into different stories and different characters, this is more like xenosaga accept it consist of multiple games in multiple arcs. If you want an experience like none other when it comes to writing and story telling in jrpgs, then look no further than Legend of heroes *Trails* series and the best part of it is it started with your favorite pixel art graphics. Only downside is, its a huge commitment, so many games, hundreds of hrs but if you have the patience, you will be rewarded with a sort of ambition epic in terms of writing in rpgs that you have never experienced before.

One thing about the Alien races I noticed. All the Main Story ones are kinda boring...............But the ones who don't appear in the story on the other hand are actually quite cool. The Bug Race are a very interesting species, the Goroboggin (Whose name I got wrong here.) who eat pollution and radiation are quite imaginative, the Prone who join the City offer interesting insights into their people, Alot of wasted potential. Most notable that of the playable character, only 2 of them are Aliens, which to me is pretty lame. I think a Sequel might actually be in the works, I hope they expand on them more and less on the Pizza Obsessed not Salarians and humans. Speaking of Adding the various races to the city, that was my favorite part of the game. I liked building the city up by recruiting the other species, watching the city change and it's people along with it. The game could have done with some Dark Cloud elements of City Building.

*SPOILER ALERT* I would have to agree with you 100% percent about the ending... I just didn't want to deal with a cliff hanger after all that led up to it. What the hell is up with Lau being alive on the beach as well? Since I don't really like turn based RPGs, I was surprised how fun BD is. So I decided to jump on the "Mother Wagon" and play Fanal Fantasy X. I hate FFX. I hate it with a passion. The battle system put me to sleep, the story was so underwhelming, and , other than LuLu, I hated everyone in that damn party. I was doubly disappointed because everyone said it's their favorite FF. I'm still optimistic about FF XV thoug. Not because it's a FF game, but because, from the demos, it looks like a comparation between KH and XBC....

Yes, the story is the weak point of the game but for different reasons in my opinion: SPOILERS!!!!!!! In mission 11 when Lao reveals that the people on whale are the elite hierarchy class, I was like, "GREAT TWIST...but it doesn't make any sense and doesn't mesh well with the subquests. The people on the white whale are clearly not of the hierarchy class. Some are pizza shop owners, bartista's, mechanics, even sometimes prisoners. They don't act like part of the hierarchy either. Snooty entitled rich people who would probably compete and fight amongst each other...but no, they co-operate quite nicely." Complete disconnect between main plot and sub-plots. Oh and yeah I wasn't a big fan of to be continued either -_- But don't worry, I heard that the creators learned from their mistake and in the sequel are planning to make a much more involved and well done main story, kind of like how they did with Xenoblade Chronicles. Great review and fair score!

Your reviews are excellent but..... I really think you should not give a score. Scores can be misleading.

I must be part of the minority here, because Xenoblade Chronicles X is a much better game than Xenoblade Chronicles. I couldn't even finish XC, because the characters are annoying as shit, Shulk is a bitch, Fiora is an annoying bitch, and well those 2 characters ruined the game, not to mention the lame ass plot twist in the story halfway through the game (which is where I stopped playing the game, and never touched it again). Just my opinion, but XCX is worlds better than XC.
