    I finally took time out to watch this video. Very interesting Shay! I've been shying away from moving heads at my gigs because I don't like setting them up. I'm lazy lol, but you made it look cool and easy! Got me thinking 🤔 🤣

    2L! Thanks for stopping by! I completely agree with you about that, and that's why I was so impressed by these ones. They're smaller than the typical big moving head, but that also makes them convenient for those smaller gigs. It's not lazy, its wanting to save your time, effort and your back!! LOL

    I know a company that uses these as uplights. They charge depending on of they are set to a static color for the night or of they will be included as the light show. 2 different rates, same light price difference is slightly doubled. Amazing.

    Thanks for watching! Oh wow that is really interesting. They are basically uplights that move so that makes sense. Only downside would be having to find power for each individual one since they’re not battery powered, but hey if they’re charging well for it then makes sense! They are very versatile!

    Hey thanks for watching! Your gig logs are awesome! Exactly I felt the same - I always had an eye out for ways to do lighting without T bar, and without having to bring totems (for space and convenience sake). These have been super convenient so far. For when I need extra lighting power, I’ve bought the Chauvet Wash Fx 2’s to mount on top of my speakers, but I don’t always use them. Are there any options you’ve been looking at?

    @@MrMaui38 Thanks! I've pretty much only thought about the Wash FX2 and tube lighting. I feel like tube lights provide enough wash and are aesthetically pleasing. I like that you mount them on top of the speakers instead of under the speakers. Under the speakers just shines in people's eyes. I wouldn't mind totems, but I'd easily sacrifice space for aesthetics.

    @@Ciulla55 I totally agree about the Wash Fxs -- they must be placed elevated, hence the tops of the speakers for me. It doesn't look the greatest so Totems or even those more sleek Gravity Stands/ Chauvet Flex Stands are intriguing, but for me space wise its about the limited space I have in my car. It's nice not to have to bring/setup separate light stands! I've considered the tube lights, but at the price of the lights + stands, I just figured I'd wait until I grow into a totem/stand + Both Lighting Wash moving head combo at a similar price. The tube lights definitely look more convenient though!

    Yes Shay! Nice video brother and really good info for starter moving heads. I actually tried these moving heads, but for the stuff we do, I didnt feel they would be powerfull enough so I sent them back. I have also tried the wireless dongle with the color code thing on them. They served me well for a year or so, but I found the bigger the crowd and further the distance, the more drop outs I'd get. This makes the lighting show terrible when you heavily rely on the lighting during key moments, such as first dances. You can't have a light drop out at that moment, everyone will notice it as it'll draw attention! So eventually, I moved over to the chauvet DMX dongle system and it's been great. Expensive, yes! But, they are 100% worth it IMO. Also, I'd advise any mobile DJ to invest in a WMX1. It has litterally changed the game for me in Lighting at my events and I won't do any gigs without it. Having the WMX1 has actually made me more money, as it's allowed me to showcase beautiful lighting concepts at events. I might have to do a video on it... Anyways, keep it up brother!

    Broo G thanks for stopping by and watching man! Your lighting is the inspiration man this is just my beginner steps. I totally agree that these wouldn’t have enough output for the kinds of shows you do. Ive seen the Chauvet ones but didn’t know that they are that much better performance wise vs these Chinly/Donner dongles! Good to know Man if you made a video on that WMX1 that would seriously be a hit! I don’t have much lighting right now, but as I build up I am definitely thinking to buy something like that to get better control of my light shows. Bro thank you so much for watching and commenting on my little beginner light video!! You set the bar and i can’t wait to see more of your videos for inspiration!!🔥

    Hey thanks for watching! I appreciate the comment. Unfortunately, not that I know of. I usually keep them in Auto 2 mode, but even that one has one part where they strobe for a few seconds, though I don’t mind the strobe for a short time. I think the music/sounds modes strobe more often than the Auto modes. There is an auto mode that doesn’t strobe, but I think it only stays on one color in that mode, which isn’t as exciting haha. What kind of events do you use yours for?

    When you are scrolling through the menu options, you will see a setting come up that says “pan” and then one that says “tilt”. On each of these press the enter button (usually the 4th button on the far right) and this will turn on the reverse setting, which will show as “r tilt” and “r pan”. Hope this helps!

  • @MrMaui38

    @MrMaui38

    3 ай бұрын

    Hey thanks for watching! This is one of the drawbacks of the light, because you can’t get it to stay exactly in the area you want without DMX., but there is a way. So when you scan through the menu, there are degree settings for first the pan and the tilt, and I believe they’re in increments of 90, 180, 270 and 540 (tilt cuts off at 180 I think). You can adjust these and see if it will get the lights to stay in the area you want in sound mode! It’s not as exact as when you if you were to set it with DMX, but can will help the lights stay more in the general area you want. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for watching! Yes that is a great point and absolutely correct, which I did not mention in the video. These have 180 degree tilt only so when you have them right side up and mounted high say on a totem, they won’t be able to shine down past 180.

    Do you feel that having your lights setup on your speaker stands, essentially having the base at a 90 degree angle vs setting them up on a flat surface in which you would just set on the rubber feet; do you think that having them like you do provides you a greater lighting/wash on the dance floor? I ask this because this video is literally what i need but setting up wise i need to see how i can have the most light on the dance floor vs ceiling. thanks!

  • @MrMaui38

    @MrMaui38

    Ай бұрын

    Great question! So if the goal is light on the dance floor, having them at the 90 degree angle is ideal. The other way on the feet definitely still works but they just won’t be able to point downwards. The reason is the lights don’t tilt down past 180 degrees, so if you set them on their rubber feet, the light won’t point down (from 180 degrees) from whatever surface you have them on. Also in the settings you can set the Pan and Tilt degree ranges so that when they move they point only towards the front and not behind the lights where you may be standing, but still they won’t tilt down past 180 degrees. If you set them on your DJ table or something where the dance floor is right in front at the level of the lights, it will still shine on the floor though when they are pointing straight! Hope that helps!

If it helps, in the video during the short clips of the lights at gigs, you can see the one in the big tent, where I have the lights mounted on top of my speakers, and they’re mostly going up on the ceiling because they’re so high up and can’t point down. But then, in the other clip where I have them on my speaker stands, they are pointing much more on the dance floor. Catch you next time!
