Thank you for the awesome review. The red knobbed lever you referred to is, I believe, a decompression lever. Flip this lever clockwise when starting the machine and you will relieve the stress on the starter motor and battery.

Nothing wrong with your digger better than a shovel any day, slow tracking does not matter as you can easily tow it on a small trailer.if you look after it it will last you years.Be cool in time to fit a small water cooled two cylinder Perkins in there and a piggy back hydro pump.Good purchase in my opinion.

I have had one for over a year now, it’s a piece of shit but I’m totally in love with it. I have been skidding logs downhill that weigh twice what the rhino weighs. Very impressed.

I bought 1 of these a couple of years ago direct from Rhinosceros in China. Here in the UK, for £8500 you get a brand new machine with 3 buckets. Direct from manufacturer, I got (wait for it) the machine, the same 3 buckets, a quick hitch, a rake attachment, a ripper tooth, an auger (£600), a breaker(£1000), a log grab and a basic trailer. all of this cost me, from China and including the shipping, £7200. YES YOU SAW THAT CORRECT £7200. The only complaint I had at first, and it is something to bear in mind, is that if you are on rocky ground or on bricks, the tracks can come off easily. If you take care when on rocky ground you can avoid that. all in all, the review above is spot on. I did a stability test with the log grab on by picking up some logs (rangeing 4" to 6" and approx 4m long. almost at full stretch 90 degees to the tracks. No problems. I love the little thing and all its quirks.

3:25 .. ... For safety you could buy a 12v "nominally closed" shut off valve and fit it to the "T" = tank, port on the control valve. Then wire it in to the ignition key or main isolation to activate. Easily done, wouldn't cost mush and possibly safe lives or serious injuries.

nice video. The Chinese words on the engine look to be 常柴/Changchai not Yanmar, though Yanmar actually owes factory in Shandong province, China. Broken paint on engine cover is due to the lack of rust-proof, which should be treated with acid pickling and electrophoresis before painting. There should be 2 kinds of hydraulics options, gearpump (working pump that drives the cylinder on boom)+piston pump, or gearpumps only, price would be different.

So I had a problem when the diesel ran out. Refilled it and ran for a couple of seconds then it stalled, it kept doing this. Had to take the high pressure fuel pipe off and fill it with diesel via a syringe and hold my thumb on the top end whilst bolting it back on the pump and injector. Now runs fine again!

I have an almost identical "Akrotect" here in Germany. Unfortunately the ignition switch is really cheap and it failed to completely return to the "on" position after starting it last week and during operation the starter engaged and was destroyed in the few moments I spent asking myself what that squeaking noise was. Always make sure the ignition switch returns all the way. A decent replacement switch is inexpensive and could save you buying a new starter. Back running now though. They are extremely simple machines with no electronics apart from the voltage regulator it seems. This is good as you can fix basically everything on them yourself. The engine is a clone of a Yanmar L100 (if it's the same as mine-a KOOP192FE) with plenty of parts availability.

"The engine is a clone of a Yanmar L100 (if it's the same as mine-a KOOP192FE)..." When I bought my XN08 last year, it was only available with a ChangChai 500cc 1-cyl diesel. I did not know that that engine and the Koop were clones of the Yanmar L100. Nevertheless, either diesel has not been emissions-compliant in the US for years, so I Imported one without an engine and installed my own here in the US. I have since purchased another 1-ton mini-X from a different Chinese factory, after they installed a compliant Briggs & Stratton gas engine, imported from the US.

Hi all could do with some help from you guys please. Had my XN08 for four months now (from new) and quite happy with it but fine the manual very basic and difficult to follow. Just ordered a service pack but can't for the life of me see where the oil filter goes or where the oil filler cap is. can anyone help please? P.s. both tracks have come off mine and its a right pain getting them back on because the tension spring when full loosened off still keeps a lot of tension on the track. Its a two man job with two six foot pry bars, i also had to replace the starter motor (£120) after only two months. My hour meter does not work and on inspection found it to be cracked, looks like water's got in, can't seem to find a supplier for a new one. thank guys any help will be appreciated

Hello oil filter is in the back of the engine. the oil filter can be cleaned also. The XN08 has the L90 Yanmar copy engine in it. Depending on the version you have, you must remove protective covers of the body shell Easy : search google Yanmar L90 , oil filter change. You will find videos Also : wrong tension in tracks , or when you rotate with machine you do it wrong Also : started motor, is not faulty, but the solenoid circuit is easy to destroy if you keep long time ON for starter engine. Also : hour meter is standard, you can search based on dimension of hour meter, you do not need specific hour meter

Never removed a tree stump, but so far no major problems at all. Points of interest however - you can derail the tracks easier than I expected, but to be fair, I have been ditching IN THE DITCH, so not unexpected. Surprisingly you get used to the single cylinder engine and it feels normal now. Still slow tracking and one track is a tiny bit slower than the other. Bolts do loosen, you need to watch that, and the grease fittings are a strange type but you can get the adapter on eBay. The ignition switch failed but I just got a new one.Overall I would say ‘it’s ok’ ( at 1/3 the price of Japanese that’s good) in regards digging it’s important to be digging with the blade in front

I’ve used a 1 ton Chinese digger with almost identical specification and all I will say is with patience it will eventually dig out a large stump, but they struggle lifting the things out. I used a combination of hand winch and digger and effectively rolled the thing out but had to axe away at the large roots to create a sphere. When pricing against another contractor with a larger machine they’ll have it out whilst you’re still digging and axing. I found it’s limitations within a few minutes. The single pump make them lethal to use, very snatchy, almost impossible to get a smooth movements. Dropping a full bucket from height you have to have the hands of a pox doctors clerk otherwise it will drop violently and shake your teeth out. You get what you pay for, it’s basic, cheap, it digs but struggles to grade. After four hours of use, get the spanner’s out and tighten everything up. Carry spares or a magnet on a string and go for a walk. Would I buy another? Yes. Would I prefer a three cylinder and twin hydraulic pump, plus a cab….definitely Yes!
