Ғылым және технология
The Computer Repair Guys recently purchased Simplisafe for my personal home and to do a review. Here is our quick reviews that covers both ease of installation and quality of use.

Just an update everyone. It has been awhile since I review this product. I ended up buying a second system for my computer shop although I only needed 1 keypad, 1 siren, 1 motion and 2 entry sensors. Both systems are still working well. I have NOT ordered the extra smoke detectors etc....although I may soon.
I just bought this system for my daughter's college apartment after they had a break in. It works great. We installed it in about 15 min and my daughter loves that she can set the alarm from her phone. She also gets alerts anytime her roomate sets or disarms the alarm. You also get your first month of monitoring free. I currently have ADT and pay a lot more per month. I am thinking about swapping ADT for Simplisafe.
Any idea what the range is for the base station? Would like to add a second keypad upstairs.
What's the highest you can set your motion detectors? It says 4 to 5ft but it looks like yours are higher. Still detect okay?
Thanks for the review. Mine should be here within hours! I've been wanting an alarm system for a long time and this one will definately fill the bill! I will feel so much better when away from home and when sleeping at night. Can't wait!
Any problems since this video? I have read a couple complaints that the sticky tape used to hold the sensors on their were died up and fell off causing false alarms. Also when this happened hey never got a cal from the monitoring service. Which I had ADT 7 years and a couple of times my alarm went off and they never called me either so I waited for the police to show up and explain it was fals alarm but the police just drove by and looked at me and kept going. SO I assume they were never called.
So since the video have you ever set off the alarm and waited for a call? Just wondering if they are really monitoring...thanks
i installed mine but the base light keeps blinking and need to find out how to fix it
Can u have it work with a DVR camera system?
Great review!! I just cancelled an order to install ADT system in my new home. Now that its August 2011, do you still feel the same about this system? I'm ready to order on your recommendation. Thanks!
I have Simplisafe and it works great. I can even operate it from my Smartphone. Much better than the ADT system I had for years, and cutting my phone line won't disable it.
Thank you for posting this review. Greatly appreciated :)
will this work in canada?
Haven't seen a response on how the system is working several months later.
how is the voltage on BASE station? i like to use this in EUROPE! THANX
can we set it up without paying a monthly fee....jus use it as an alarm that doesnt notify any one?

yes, you may use it as a Local alarm. tho I do recommend having an alarm monitored if you decide not to then just buy it unmonitored and get an extra siren if possible. have a nice day :)
I see you installed this back in 2011, have the monthly monitoring fees went up since your install?
Thanks for the review, think I'm going to get this. First saw it on Dave Ramsay
Is there a way to secure each piece besides the sticky tape?
@NealB123

Yes. Each sensor also comes with two screws which can be used to secure it to the wall or door frame.
Thank you for the review.
thank you for the review
I was thinking the exact same thing!! I just started looking at SimpliSafe and was wondering if you ever found a REAL REVIEW or if you've actually had the chance to test it out yourself?? Thanks
What is a local 2gig dealer mean?
I think I might buy this system. Seems to be some honest reviews online and in the press. Muh different than FrontPoint which has flooded the internet with false reviews, troll posts and over spamming. That definitely scares me away from FrontPoint. If you have to go to that extent to build a false reputation, that is a big RED FLAG to me.
I have this and love it. I couldn't recommend this product any higher.
Will this work in an apartment. As I go out of town a lot

Yes!
I read a few things said there is no light to tell you its on or its hard to read the key pad and the motion detector doesn't allow you to see if its even working
I see that you liked it. But I've seen videos of people who criticized it.
how much was this particular system and is there a monthy fee?

For what you pay for Simplisafe, might as well get Oplink security system with cameras and a real time smartphone app.

2gig is a brand of security system. Ask ur local security dealers if they use this brand and are linked with alarm.com for the interactive features. (Smart phone compatible)
Go to alarm.com and watch the videos. Way better equipment that a local dealer/tech can install. If you want the lower monitoring rate then purchase the 2gig equipment outright and go month to month on your monitoring at a much lower rate. People seem to forget about why the 3 year contracts were created in the first place. To save people money up front like a loan. This works fine for people that can't afford the big out of pocket costs involved.
The bad: SimpliSafe packages don't include video cameras, and you won't be able to connect with locks, lights, or other home automation devices over Z-Wave, Zigbee, or any other wireless network. The devices also look a little dated.

You CNET freak.......stop plagiarize you dumb F***
read my 3 posts in reverse order, starting with the 3rd one first.
It always bugs me when I see a review that is mostly unboxing the product. That is wasted time! I want to see the functionality of the product, not watch you unbox it. This isn't really a review.
The quality of this video doesn't match the quality of videos on simplisafe's website. They have plenty of reviews referenced there. I've been researching security systems for the last week now. Simplisafe operates on a different model than most. They make you purchase the equipment up front and the monthly monitoring is much less expensive. Most of the other companies provide the equipment at a higher monthly cost with a locked in contract.
I've compared plenty of companies and there is only a 5 price difference. Between having to cough up 500 bucks and getting everything for free from a local company. But the catch is with a local company it comes with a warranty.

+Fernando Sanchez What do you mean a "5 price difference"???? Heh. The other companies charge a LOT more than a $5 difference.
Do you know how easy it is to cell jam a simplisafe system? DIY's are the easiest ones to jam because of the weak signal going in and out. You get what you paid for
Hmmm, a little suspicious that this is just a semi-clever ad for SimpliSafe. 1- "The Computer Guys" only have one video, this one, posted over 2 1/2 years ago. 2- it's # 3 in a Google search for the word simplisafe. Is someone doing SEO on the video? 3- A Google search for "The Computer Guys" turns up nothing that would resemble the company portrayed here. Computer Guys, If I'm wrong, I'm sorry for misinterpreting. Maybe your in the witness protection program or you are "Computer Guys" for the CIA or something. If I am wrong, please tell me why...

Well why don't you just ask the author of this video if this is legit instead of all the speculating in your post? I've had this system for over 3 months now and it does everything as advertised. It communicates through T-Mobil cell or land line. Their web site has tons of Q&A about the system and good email response. And no....I don't work for this company.

My speculation was not about SimpliSafe. I actually ended up getting it and like you, I found it works great, and more important to me, it's simple. Maybe you missed the end of the comment where I did ask them to tell me where my observations might be wrong.

Hey Todd. Well I am real and not affiliated with Simplisafe at all. I forgot about this video until my UPS guy came today and asked if it was me. I have a real computer shop (not called Computer Repair Guys) and was gonna use this channel to do reviews on products. Obviously it didn't work out. I was amazed when he told me this video had this many views.

Great! Then this shows that your review was legit! Now people may begin to speculate that you AND I are part of a very clever, strategically planned marketing campaign for SimpliSafe. Lol!

Time for new VIDEO PLEASE..thanks ..
Sounds like you work for ADT
They have no other reviews. It's like an ad for Simplisafe. Fishy...
And how exactly do they function when a resourceful thief has a WiFi Jammer which blocks all the system signals? Too easy to circumvent. Would those promoters of the system bet their lives or their families lives on it? I think not.
And possibly you work for a competing alarm company.
SimpliSafe blocked me from commenting on their Facebook page and blocked me from their Twitter account for asking about their fire alarm and the poor quality of their keypad.
This is not a review where is the entry sensors
Police are not contacted unless the home owner cannot be reached or does not confirm the safe word. Vivint has the worst BBB ratings, has had over 2,000 complaints filed with the BBB, and require a minimum of a 42-month contract that doesn't go away even in the event of selling your home. Vivint has cool technology - no doubt - but IMO not worth $68.99 a month for a minimum of 42 months. To each his own though!
junk...I purchased the system several months ago and nothing but problems....keeps disconnecting. No service. expect 30 minute hold times if you are lucky. feel free to call me should you wish to purchase one that is like new
Simplisafe is so easy and cheap because it does not have a two way voice feature. The monitoring station can not confirm an alarm which makes police very lethargic on responding. Bad for the security industry. I talk to many emergency responders who have even stopped responding to alarms that can't be confirmed.... You get what you pay for guys. Get vivint
For someone who has been through several systems including all of the well known companies for over twenty years I chose SimpliSafe for my latest installation. Why because all of the others depend on technology that is as old as the system. How many have trouble with signals because ATT went digital and their main board only understands analog? They want to sell you a new system so they can afford to give you a new board.... how much are you paying for a phone line so their “dumb system” can dial out? Defeating cellular signal is possible. Are you that worried? If so, why did you give up your land line? (a very stupid decision to begin with). If the SHTF cell will be the first to go and your cell phones aren’t going to help you anyway. But I digress. Alarm system are only as good as the time it takes fire or police to get there. Psst, hint 90% of successful alarms are for fire anyway. Insure your stuff.
From the computer guys I would rather expect a video how they actually were programing the system on computer, and actual installation process, and if something tricky in it. All this could be written in 5 lines of review on any site, or Simplisafe site or their FB. A total waste of my time....
System failure has cost us $350 in county fines. DO NOT PURCHASE

A new review? You mean your only review. You have never reviewed a single product. Why should be put any stock in your review? We should not! This is an advertisement!

Hi guys. Sorry. The plan was to use this channel to do product reviews. We did the first one and got sidetracked with normal everyday business. Since I was recently reminded about this review by my UPS driver, I may try to do more reviews. We are legit and have a real computer business (heidacomputers dot com)

Wait until somebody kicks open the front door, walks over to the dome control panel and trashes it before it goes off. System defeated.....

Brian Smith Once they activate any trigger in the system, it doesn't matter what they do. The signal is already sent to the monitoring center and the alarm is irreversible unless a pin is entered. Doesn't matter if the pad is destroyed.

***** When you kick open a door that has an entry delay the alarm never triggers. You use that 30 second coiuntdown to defeat the system. Not to mention what is the dialer delay in the control panel? Some counties and municipalities require a delay, also a SIA certification. That would give additional time to defeat this system. Just one of the many issues with this system and set up.
@kharjai5433

Simplisafe doesn't operate on those same standards. Once an alarm is tripped, it's tripped. The monitoring center knows of it, but that necessarily doesn't mean a siren is sounded. The entry alarm delay is toggle-able. This isn't your standard ADT, bud. Plus, the base station is easily concealable and so 10 seconds (which is what I have) to disable the system? Yeah, good luck. You'd need to cut the power, use RF jammers on multiple frequencies, cut the landline, stay out of sight, and do so silently. Sounds like a 10 second job to me.
@iwatchsecurity2458

***** Maybe I am not explaining something correctly. I kick open the front door-Simplisafe alarm starts counting down(entry delay) I tear it up within the delay, the Alarm never triggers. I would never use ADT- It is just as easily defeated, bud. I am considering buying one to do a video to demonstate it. RF jammer on multiple frequencies? Thats unlikely, I am sure it would be through one carrier that provided the best signal in the particular area. I am pretty confident without even checking that they would also have a dialer delay built into the panel as well to meet SIA standards. This is just one of the many negatives to this business model, but it is better than nothing in the house.
