It would be cool if you did more corpsman related videos, maybe start a video series and invite other types of corpsman to talk about what they do. Finding current information about corpsmen online is difficult, so vids by corpsmen talking about what they do is really valuable. I bet if you did a series about what x-ray tech corpsmen do vs pharmacy vs aviation specific corpsmen vs hospital corpsmen actually stationed in clinics or hospitals, your channel would blow up. great job, keep going. I love the content and views your bringing to the table.

Could you do a review of food in the military? Food, shelter, and clothing are usually known as the necessities of life. You already did a video covering housing (shelter). It'd be interesting to cover the other two in some capacity: food and clothing. For example, for the clothing, how often does a military servicemember have to buy their uniforms? How much does it cost to maintain them? What are the different types of uniforms? Things of that nature. For the food, maybe going into things like...your favorite dish and least favorite dish you've been served in the military. How does food compare to outside restaurants? When does one have no choice but to eat MREs? What is the process of buying food (meal card?) and how much food can you buy per day/is there a $ limit? So on and so forth. Just a thought. Thanks!

Thank you Nicky! This video of yours and the document you attached is heavens sent! I am an immigrant and a foreign educated RN. Got 72 on my ASVAB and would like to enter the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and then hopefully go to C school as SAR. Also in the future, to get into the Nurses Corps. Is the path I am thinking of a possibility? To eventually end up at Nurses Corps?

Hey man, thanks for all the info! It is all very much appreciated. How would I better my chances of getting my recruiter to work with me on becoming a corpsman? I currently work with equipment and supplies for a pretty big hospital in SoCal. That being said I'm already acclimated to working in a fast paced hospital environment and I would hate if that experience went to waste... I'm honestly not really considering any other rates besides those in the medical field, so if I could gain experience as a corpsman for a few years all would be swell! Thanks again.

Have a quick question: Any other way to chat/send messages other than YT comments/snapchat/instagram? The last 2 I don't use, (I'm separating in under 30 days, bigger fish to fry,) and YT comments are too public normally. I'm an AE3 with experience in both I-level, O-level, and recently was deployed in part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Wanna offer to be a contributor, even if only writing and not appearing on camera. Recent medical issues make me not so photogenic.

Just a question for anyone to answer:(a little background) im currently a surgical Technician and I’ve been working as one for the last 2 years but i am not certified! So i can’t get into a hospital. I work twice a week so obviously is not enough. I am enrolled in college but Pretty much in my first year of community college. If i join, what are the chances i can continue being a surgical tech ? I plan on advancing and becoming a nurse or PA but i do need the structure to continue ! I want to continue working in the O.R. I wouldn’t mind another position as long as it has opportunity for advancement.

Once you do well enough on this screening you might be selected to attend the school you want....Recon, Dive Med Tech, or Search and Rescue. Once at what ever school you choose you will have to do there fitness test that varies from each school.

I recently graduated with an Associate's degree in nursing and got a license. I am having a hard time finding a job and unfortunately, Navy RNs must have a bachelor plus one year experience. I was wondering if I could enlist as a corpsman and go to school for my BSN while working and transition to RN once I complete my degree? I wanted to become a military nurse anyway and this would allow me to enlist now and gain experience instead of waiting around for jobs.

Then there i will pick my specialty. From the link that the other replied I think it skips some stuff that a regular HM does, and I would be working to be a SAR corpsman, diver or marine spec ops. I think it’s a special forces medic. I may be wrong but I think it is that way. Could you possibly look at this link and tell me what you think? www.navycs.com/navy-jobs/hospital-corpsman-atf.html

3 types of IDC's surface, submarine, and special operations. A sarc goes to Fort Bragg for special operations combat medic course (SOCM) after graduating basic recon course. You will go on to jump, dive and seer school then on to a recon or marsoc unit. After a deployment usually you'll return to Fort Bragg for Special Forces Medical Sgt course which qualifies you as a special operations IDC.

Evan Estle I went 9 years ago so my information isn't relevant as curriculum has changed. Also I tell everyone this. No need to "prepare" as you'll have ample time to prepare. They teach you from the ground up

You have 6 weeks of emt training, super fast and kinda stressful.. you do all the exams. Then move onto skills aka the hands on stuff. You'll have a final test, super easy. Then you go into basic nursing course, where you basically learn how to do cna stuff. Then you do intermediate nursing. Where you learn more high tech stuff. Like blood draws, IV's and stuff like that. Then you do this thing called clinicals.. where you basically take everything you learned and you work in a clinic or hospital for 5 days. After that is your last course called EAP.. which is basically the corpsman manual, where you learn how to apply everything in the corpsman lifestyle.. and then you graduate. :-)

Hey man so this might be a SUPER random question. Is it true that as a navy corpsman you have to place a catheter in yourself or have another corpsman place a catheter in you? If it's not true don't laugh at me lol I'm just asking because that's what I was told happened a while ago.

I think you're confusing a urinary catheter possibly which is why it seems comedic. We do IV's on each other so that's about it.

  • @NICKYMGTV

Chances are slim for this because corpsman typically doesn't have manning issues. You usually move to another job that is requiring bodies vs one that's already filled. I do know people that crossed in to Corpsman but it was by force not by choice. This is something you inquire about at your first command typically or when you want to re-enlist you can inquire about changing jobs.

NICKY, how do they decide now who gets what tech job out of A school? It used to be the top person in the class got the list of what was available first, then the #2 person, then the 3rd etc.... Do they still do that? Many A schools also did that with where you were going (duty station) as motivation for people to do well.

be a corpsman, go to school and do well and hopefujlly they offer it. IF not then you go to your first command and you should immediately let them know you want to be a physical therapy tech.
