Review: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PC)

Metal Gear Rising has stealthily evaded George's grasp for almost a full year. Well, at least until the PC version became available for a $20 pre-order. It's Platinum's first PC port, and why is this good news? Find out within...

    I wish more games did what MGR did with the music. If you didn't notice it, the music - especially during the bossfights - fits so well because it uses the QTE sequences inbetween phaes to 'sync up' the track and transition. The buttonmash-prompts, for example when Raiden holds Rex back with his sword, are of variable length and take long enough for the music to catch up to have the following cutscene be in sync with the action on screen.

    I absolutely love this game. I never really had the problems other people did with the camera. After getting used to the lock-on system I had no problem at all. And I never bothered with stealth either. It's a Platinum game, so why would I want to avoid combat? And I'm pretty sure there is a move you can do in mid-air that lets you close distance. Can't remember exactly what it is, you probably have to buy it, but it makes fighting those enemies you talk about really easy. You just dash towards them with your sword and then use Blade Mode when you reach them to cut them up. And although there's no dodge "button", there is still a dodge move. You have to press two buttons at once, but it's there and it is useable. But I think that it being it a bit clunky is by design. To encourage you to focus on parrying and keeping up the offensive.

    I agree with the majority of your analysis. In terms of the game's politics, however, I think that there is an intentional choice to represent the villains the way they are. I interpret their monologues as the designers attempting to showcase these character's insanity. From that perspective, each boss is more "insane" as the game progresses, with even Jetstream Sam's ridiculous home-grown bushido appearing as a bizarre misplaced relic analogous to Raiden. In my opinion, the final boss is meant to have a clumsy grasp on politics and philosophy; indeed, he's a beefy monster who has sacrificed his humanity for power, and I think his childish beliefs illustrate his motivations well. I may be giving too much credit to the writing staff, but I do so in the light of MGS's history of self-aware nature. Wrong or right, I'm glad we can both agree that the game is terrific fun, keep the reviews coming!

    He played college ball, ya know! But yeah, I think you're right, but I still think there was just too little subtlety for it come off as looking respectful to the player. Then again, you don't go to Platinum for subtlety. The design and personalities of the bosses all made sense in a MGS way, but the way they were written was so much unlike MGS' style in a way that wasn't 100% a good thing. I feel like Kojima didn't write individual lines of dialogue this time, and you can tell-- like how Monsoon just shows up and leaves during his one appearance, or how Mistral's dying monologue isn't really explained.

  • @intevolver

    @intevolver

    Kojima's personal touch is definitely missing, it seems more like he gave guidelines. I think there is some cultural subjectivity playing a part here, with the writers looking in at philosophical phenomena unique to the western world from the outside, perhaps with an understanding that is shallow compared to Kojima's writing. I never felt condescended to, but there is a kind of juvenile "did you know THIS?!" quality, like they're revealing hard hitting concepts that are par for the course in the western cultural milieu. I found that I vastly prefer the codecs to the cutscene dialogue. As you went over, I do hope it opens the door for more divergence in the series. I like the muddying of the water; nobody feels like a hero.

    Gabriel Tripp "Did you KNOW that the PEOPLE you KILL have LIVES and stuff!!?" Yeah, thanks game .I had no clue this was a silly and sadistic hack-and-slash with an absurd level of violence. The only other spinoff game I could imagine at the moment is that WWII one with The Boss that they've been thinking about since MGS3, but a stealth game with a different charachter that would still fall prey to people judging it based on the previous-existing series of stealth games. Branching out to different genres may be the way to go to keep things fresh.

    Wait, did you say the story DLCs were half-assed? Bladewolf I'll grant you, it was kind of disappointing, but Jetstream is so good! Sam is like a thousand times more fun to play as than Raiden and has a completely different dynamic to his gameplay due to his focus on charge moves, more limited moveset without the infinite combos Raiden can do, more of a focus on dodging than parrying, and the taunt mechanic that actually gives a trade-off to the benefits of Ripper Mode. It's honestly the best part of the game in my opinion, and it's where I usually end up going when I feel like going back to play some Rising.

    And there's actually depth into the fighting system. Once you start playing on Very Hard, you will want to learn how to cancel animations, learn to time offensive defensive right, and you need to remember what moves cannot be canceled. Parrying attacks isn't exactly the best option on high difficoulties, because you will most likely end up stuck in a corner, while someone pulls an attack that you need to dodge. You cannot dodge right away after parrying an attack, so it will get very hectic. Oh and if you dodge, the invincibility frames last only for a fragment of a second. After that you're locked to the move until the animation ends. So bad timing and you're dead.

  • @FoggyFogzmeister

    @FoggyFogzmeister

    10 жыл бұрын

    I don't consider that to be depth simply because the system is preying on your inability to control every situation. but with a clunkily implemented parry/block and no fucking dodge (the dodge that's in there is just unintuitive to use, compare DmC and Dark Souls). The difficulty arises, not from empowering the player and then challenging him, but from the player's own ignorance from the mechanics that seem to work rather randomly. I try to parry a gekko, he simply jumps back. Ok... I try to parry one of those spin machines, he simply stunlocks me to death. Ok... If this sounds like fun to you, then hey. You have shit taste in games. I prefer games that are a bit more well designed and balanced. I love a challenge but not a broken one. That's why Dark Souls is so phenomenal. That's a game that understands how to implement and balance difficulty. Reveangence doesn't. Shame. I want to love that game but ah man. I just goes on my nerves and I end up feeling frustrated rather than happy and the satisfaction of emerging victorious after a fight is diminished because I end up feeling that everything that happens is arbitrary. I don't feel control, hence I can't take credit for the victory.

  • @Arexion5293

    @Arexion5293

    FoggyFishburne Offensive defensive is the dodge. It's meant for avoiding attacks that cannot be parried, or simply avoiding normal attacks if you wish to keep your combo going. It's an attack after all. But you need to time it right due to such small amount of time given for invincibility frames. Plus you cannot cancel the dodge animation, so if you start it too early, it's your own fault for getting hit. It's not unintuitive, it just takes time to master. Besides, the game wants you to stay close to the enemies, and offensive defensive can be used to avoid every attack, no matter what the attack is. Though not combos, since you can take damage after the first half of the animation. And the parry.. sigh, all you need is to see is where the attack is coming from so you can block it, and dodge it. It makes no sense for you to try to attack when an attack is already coming. Plus this way you're forced to keep your eye on the enemy. It makes no sense that you'd be able to dodge or block and attack that you didn't see coming. If you think the mechanics are random, I'm going to ask if you're paying attention during fights. Only thing that can screw you over is the camera, since the parrying and dodging is based on keeping your eyes on the enemy. Every enemy has their own patterns, and especially in case of bosses, they will react differently to different moves. Like in case of Sam, you cannot properly attack him unless he attacks first. And on third phase he avoids you completely, since in the first phase he stayed close and still took damage. Never rely on enemies acting as you think they may, some of them still manage to surprise me with moves I didn't knew they even had. I'm still questioning whether you know how to play the game or not. Check ChipCheezum's video of how to play the game if you don't. They demonstrate pretty much all you need to know about the game, except that dodging cannot be canceled and after parrying you're momentarily unable to move, unless you parry again. If you don't feel like you're in control, then you simply haven't mastered the controls. And trust me, that will take time in this game. First playthrough was on Hard. It kicked my ass, but I learned the mechanics quickly, so I still managed. It's all about timing in this game and being aware of your enemies. Then I tried Very Hard and suddenly all enemies attack when ever they want. I had to change my tactics completely, because you can easily end up parrying forever, if you're bad at timing the counter attack. Counter attack gets more precise on higher difficoulties, which makes executing one even more satisfying. It's also your best weapon on hardest difficoulty, since it basically becomes an instakill move.

  • @agent42q

    @agent42q

    FoggyFishburne based on how your talking about the parrying system, I don't think you ever fully got into the game because it sounds like your timing and/or reactions are a bit off? But then again I don't 'get' Dark Souls/Demon Souls, so maybe it's just different strokes.

  • @Arexion5293

    Wednesday's Serial MGR is completely timing based, the battle's tend to have their own rhythms. Heck, that's why some of the combos have pauses between them, to tell the player that they should keep an eye on their timing. By far I've actually never found a reason why the parry mechanic would be clunky. You just need to time it right and see the incoming attack and push the stick to the right direction (which doesn't even require that much precision. Just remember to reset your stick's position after parrying) and that's that. Some attack animations just start way before the attack happens, and some enemies can dodge counter attacks, usually when their health is still high.

  • @agent42q

    @agent42q

    Arexion5293 I didn't play hard enough that I was consistently and reliably cancelling animations (I'll never make it to EVO!) but I would say AMEN to everything else. Also not to say your bit on cancelling animations is wrong, I just personally can't speak to it. But ya it timing and reaction based, there's certain things you see, and react accordingly.

    It really seems like whenever someone has to talk about games like these, they first have to voice their disdain or discomfort with the mixing of comedic, serious and over the top elements. It seems to be a weird target for specific games in the series depending on how people look at it. It's really confusing and I always considered this a part of what makes the series so fun - because it doesn't take itself that seriously, it allows the heavy-hitting themes to be more resonant. At the risk of coming off as a weeaboo, I think it's definitely a Japanese thing - viable comparisons I'd make in the West would be someone like David Lynch, who loves to play with that line between comedy and discomfort, making the view unsure how to feel. Are the ridiculous soap overtones of Twin Peaks supposed to make you laugh? Why do they end up making you sad as they turn a corner? Are we supposed to take Fatman seriously as a villain? Does it matter when we end up with Stillman dead and the stakes raised, regardless of how we felt? It's that ambiguity that makes the games fun for me.

    The music of MGS:Rising is honestly the best use of music in a video game I've seen, ever. They match up with the action sequences, they're the same pace and feeling as the boss battle, and is a core part of the experience. When I first popped the game in and fought the Ray in the tutorial level, the way the music synced up with the fight and the QTE was a moment of pure gaming joy for me. It gave Raiden and the bosses the level in Badass they really needed to keep the game from being "just more ninjas and cyborgs."

You do know that they changed every move and gave him wakneses and strenghts, like sam's dodge is much more responsive than raiden and his parry is much harder to do perfectly, also that he can charge every heavy atack, even if it's in a combo, same with bladewoilf, he is more focused on stealth and if i remember correctly he doesn't even have a parry, so i don't know what you're talking about with "They felt half assed", were the enviroments reused? yes, but what do you want? if they made new enviroments the dlc would cost more to make aka cost more to buy.

    I'm almost two years late to the party on this, but the only issue I have with the review is your view of the combat. While chains and what not are impactful to your scores, the way the game is intended to be S-ranked is to avoid damage entirely. The game was designed wholly around the fact your primary means of defense is also tied to your offense because the game is all about being opportunistic in your attacks. While you can just play it like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry with some success, that isn't the way the game is actually intended to be played; you're intended to play it by being exploitative of openings by turning enemy attacks against them and then killing them with single strikes. Your attack buttons are practically really only there to take advantage of stun windows that follow some parries - for example during bosses. Another good example are the hammer enemies that don't offer too many good parrying windows or the helicopters. You attack only when the enemy is not attacking, when you're swarmed by dwarf geckos or when you really have no other means of doing damage. Otherwise the game pushes it home pretty hard that you're supposed to be a video game ninja and thus, attack like one. Most of the lesser grunts in the game can actually be one-shot without parrying them at all; just enter blade mode and they have their big 'hit me here' square all ready for you.

    Just as a further expansion of that, the incentive of the Zandatsu early on is, indeed, the health as you're getting used to it. The real incentive of it once the controls are mastered, though, is for blade energy in order to continue performing zandatsus as you go on every enemy you encounter.

    I find it funny how right you are about the game for most of the review you get a couple of things very wrong. There are certain parts that made it seem like you didn't even try to read the descriptions the game gave you like aiming a rocket launcher, aerial moves that automatically chase enemies, the very present dodge and its superior upgrade, and the parry system only kicks in if you hit towards while attacking. That being said it's a great review, it just seems like you didn't dig into the finer aspects and you probably didn't think there was more to it.

Ignorance is not an excuse when making a critique. Now, it's entirely fair to point out that MGR doesn't explain itself very well, but given that this is a game that's been out for almost a year on console, they (and you) should know this. That's why I was frustrated and confused at first when I was playing the demo. I still bought the game and I indeed had to look from internet how to do the parry. I think they should fix the camera and explain things bit better for the sequel (make the camera go bit further back, as it would show the combat bit better).

    Why do you think I missed those? Believe me, I didn't. They're right there in the buy menu, don't even have to Google. As mentioned, I didn't have a problem with conveyance, I had a problem with the control scheme. Those moves only work during certain contextual conditions, and they also eat up your attack button.

    Super Bunnyhop Defensive offense isn't actually contextual? It acts a lot like a Dark Souls roll, complete with insanely abuse-able i-frames. Also I thought it was weird that in the gameplay clips where you criticized the ranged weapons you didn't actually aim them. I had no problem hitting those flying guys with a locked-on stinger. I still really enjoyed the video, though, and your description of Platinum's lovably childish aesthetic was spot-on.

    I think there's one (relatively) deep aspect to the story, but I don't think it was intentional: Raiden being doomed to repeat his past over and over. Yes, it's certainly guilty of displaying MGS2's iconography (THE MEMES, JACK) in a borderline disrespectful manner, but a running pattern seems to emerge between MGS2, MGS4 and Rising. Raiden ended MGS2 by being compelled to continue the survival of the patriots' AIs, and in MGS4, he had his character arc completely reverted (though I shan't dive into the subtext of that). This time round, his character arc's sent through a horribly cheesy regression, but more importantly, at the end he himself attempts to wipe out the Patriots' memes in Armstrong, but ends up embodying them and proliferating them himself. He's fated to have his character caught in an endless limbo and ensuring the survival of the very thing he's trying to destroy. Or I'm just reading too much into the half-assed writing of an entertaining game. I'm interested in seeing an eventual Peace Walker Critical Close Up. It's certainly over the top a lot even before you touch the side content (Pooyan? Seriously?) but a lot of its central plot thread is lovingly crafted, much more so than portable ops. It feels like a love letter to MGS3 - the camouflage, resource procurement, the development of the entire Metal Gear concept, influences from the time it's set in, focus on Big Boss as a character, and how it's loaded with dramatic irony, this time for both Metal Gear 1 and MGS4, and if you ask me, Trenya or no Trenya, it's wonderful to see Kojima genuinely invested in the creative process again after MGS4 and Portable Ops.

    This is probably my favorite action game. Some valid criticisms, though I would disagree about the parry system. I think it works beautifully, and as others stated, you do have a dodge. I really never had an issue with not parrying because of an attack. The limited moveset could use some work, and sadly weaponswap couldn't be done on consoles. As for stealth, I would just suggest not to do it outside speedrunning because the game is really rather bad at it. As for the plot, I actually like it. I love the weird over the top-ness. Also the final boss is great and hilarious.

    It's wordplay. The game's story is about revenge or vengeance, which are both the same thing so it slaps the two words together. What it's actually going for is Re: Vengeance, as in the subject line of an email, "Regarding Vengeance." When the title flashes at the end of the credits, you can even see the "Re" flashing same as the "Rising" in Metal Gear Rising.

    This game has like one of the best soundtracks ever IMO. Also, he didn't mention it in the review, but the songs are mixed in such a way that something in the mix changes (typically lyrics are added) to perfectly match the onscreen chaos. My favorite shift is in the Mistral fight because the chaos of the third phase coupled with the added lyrics honestly just pumps you the fuck up. It's really well done, and I honestly think it's something that game devs should look at for when they're putting music into their games. And yes I know this video is three years old.

    I'm confused. What techniques are contextual? The Parry/Block mechanic can be done whenever you want to. There's no flash telling you that you can do it. Am I misunderstanding something? Otherwise really good review, tho I think you should have mentioned the bosses drop weapons that can really turn the tide for you. Monsoons Sai for example is a projectile for the most part that travels really fast, and when charged purple, EMP stuns enemies. You can also use it to pull enemies to you, or yourself to them, a real boon when it comes to taking care of those flying enemies you where talking about. Raiden also has a really fast dive kick that can travel vertically (Double tap Forward + Hard Slash i think) that is great on those guys as well (this is turning into combat advice more then a comment on the review lool). Anyway I just think the alt weapons should have been given a mention cuz they have their + and minuses as well, yet are still really important to the game over all, i don't think you mentioned them once making it sound like they don't exist.

  • @wabbit234

    On your point about no projectile attacks, you can press forward and the Y button for an attack that can easily reach the flying dudes. It will stun them and allow you to take them out in blade mode very easily.

    I appreciate the review and agree fully that this game is dumb, exhiliarating, cute, grusome and somewhat compelling... but I can't help feel that you point fingers at MGSPW and MGS4 quite often. You stated once that those two "weren't your favorites", but you've yet to explain alot of why that is, other than how MGS4 has long ass cutscenes that get obscure and cathartic, and how Peace walker has an odd way of letting people see the final ending. I feel like you are just dancing around pw and mgs4 without going into them at all, and in constrast, you very often return to credit mgs3 and give your opinions and criticisms about that game. I realize it is your favourite, but you provided an incredibly thoughtful and perspective close-up to Mgs2, a game often panned as the black sheep of the series by many, so I think you could provide a similarly thoughtful close up of PW and MGS4. Super bunnyhop is anything but obligated to cover all things metal gear, but I feel you could at least be upfront about the aforementioned two with shorter, less taxing reviews at the very least. I wonder if you are making reviews, closeups, or anything for those two games, because I feel we would benefit from knowing how you feel about them.

    Super Bunnyhop Thank you for responding, and I'm sorry if I was too assertive in my original comment. I'm glad to hear you're going to give us your input rather than just ignore the ones you didn't like as much. I too liked your GZ review, though I have a few scruples and things I feel don't coincide with your impression of it. That said, I'm sad to hear you didn't like peace walker, but I'm hardly sad to hear you didn't so much like mgs4. If It's alright, I would give my quick two-cents regarding peace walker, just so you know how an equally dedicated fan feels: I think Peace Walker is a phenomenally strong point in the MGS series, I found myself quite invested in the characters and story a lot sooner than I did for any of the other games in the series. The flaws are there, to name a few: the ashley wood illustrations are cool, impressive, and kitschy but obviously can't captivate like the famous traditional cutscenes. The gameplay is hampered by the removal of prone, crawling, first person view, the addition of numerous invisible walls, and occasionally, very confining maps. There are also no humanoid bosses and to experience the true ending, you must complete many 'auxiliary' tasks which alone wouldn't mean anything to anyone. Additionally, while splitting the game into 'missions' is prime for re-accessibility, it hinders immersion and makes consistency difficult to realize. That said, I still feel like PW is a revolution in many ways, my favorite being numerous giant metal gears and unmanned AI weapons that just charm my fancies all over... this game had the most giant robot battles, and they themselves were quite fun and challenging (if not cheap sometimes). One last thing, I feel that big boss didn't commit so many wrongs you accused him of as of the end of peace walker. The only child soldier you recruit was already a child soldier in his own circumstance, not once forced upon him, and he can't be made to fight anyway in the game. You also recruit numerous civilians whom do little more than engage in small talk and, presumably, just sleep the days away at mother base; Snake doesn't hold them as hostages in the game. Snake does act a bit as a warmonger, but he's much to just for that. While confused about the Boss, he is led into a tentative quest to realize Strangelove's interpretation of the Boss' dying wish, by Strangelove herself. Because of this, I feel, as of Ground Zeroes, it is totally plausible to feel pity and empathy towards Naked Snake, in my earnest opinion that is. That's all I will say for that, and I respectfully await your opinion, though I hope you can at least appreciate where the story takes things. Mgs4, on the other hand, I have much fewer nice things to say about. It's laden with alot of tedium and nonsense that could be trimmed down to at least present coherence. I was thoroughly impressed with a few bits, but way too few. The missions are broken up into chapters, somewhat like the Manhattan Tanker and Arsenal gear, or the Virtuous Mission and Snake Eater, or Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain, but each of them is saddled with so many unnecessary plot recaps and reiterations that it drowns a lot of what the experience could've been.. There lies a wonderful story underneath it all, lacking just abit of direction, but it is encumbered by enough ridiculousness for the game to literally only feel fun in: -certain parts of the Middle East chapter -the beginning of the Eastern Europe chapter -most of the shadow moses chapter (despite the near complete lack of soldiers to fight/evade/incapacitate as the series evolved alongside them) -the final Boss That's all for now. I'm so sorry I added all this to your review of MGRR, if you'd like, I could remove it from here and relay it to you in some other form. Either way, thanks for getting back.

    Awesome review as per usual. I loved this game and played it through twice, a rarity for me, especially basically back to back. I would argue/add your point on the parry. I see why you have some issues with it, as it's far from flawless. However what I love about it is that it forces combat to be aggressive, there's not a lot of waiting for an opening, or endlessly dodging till you can get your hit in (sans the most frustrating boss battle) It keeps the pace and feel of the game, and made a mechanic that sold Revengance on it's own. It's the pulse and pace of the game on one mechanic that you can couple with a side dodge later. They do a terrible job of teaching it, but one you land it this game comes together, it's like a hadoken. A mechanic so tied to the game it lives or dies on that input. Also, no love for the dog? I thought that was your jam!

  • @AnonymousAZ

    @AnonymousAZ

    Nukle0n hey says: Rose isn't Real, debate it, but the same as Old Snake was suppose to kill himself because of FOXDIE going radical and the SECOND FOXDIE virus killing him, that didn't happen either. MGS4 ended not as intended, there was some stories going one way, that changed direction. Like how Big Boss was not damaged at all, and solidus was just a torso. Big Boss was ignited on fire, he should look like freddy kruger. Small things, but Retcon, even within the game itself happened. This still doesn't explain Jack as a false narrator in previous games. Check out the review for MGS2, he raises those exact same questions, even calling into account Snakes "Infinite Ammo" quote and passes over the fact Snake appears out of nowhere just before he says it. It's not a slap you in a face answer, but a subtle nuance. For the sake of MGS storyline, I think the choice made in MGS4 were still sound, and help give the game focus, with it's actual ending for both Old Snake and Raiden. Little John also has Silver hair like his father. Except Raiden has Light Blonde hair, and wasn't until after the implants did it go white. The kid didn't exist until just then. 3rd act appearance. Cyborgs can probably undergo whatever hypnosis Ocelot did to become Liquid Ocelot, probably easier. Frank Jager forgot who was too, that was how you met him in MGS. The means for it being a false ending are there, just it might have changed, just like Old Snakes death to prevent an apocalyptic virus of epic proportions. Retcon, son. Doesn't change the potential is there. It's still interesting to note. Rose maybe a real person, but she was a spy of the Patriots. They were not holding her kid hostage. She's just working for the Patriots. As a patriot. For the pentagon. She reinvented her entire self. She's not real. She's just there to make sure Raiden doesn't lose it, keepy Psyche up. That's LITERALLY her job, in every game. There is no coercion, it's done by freewill. He doesn't even see the kid after too busy with "WORK". His psyche is fine though... Motive and method. Who would find out? Otacon? Snake? Campbell? Jack? So how would we know. Even if Campbell knew, he'd be the person working with Rosemary. None of the cast would know, so who would tell us, as the viewer? What the player knows, is what the character knows. So figure that out, but you can just say TL;DR and say NOOOOOoooooooo for a long time. Still doesn't change that it can happen, and it did happen, and it happened again. Just because a person lies all the time, doesn't mean their honest. Especially when you know they're a liar. What changed? The kid must be real, because Silver hair is a normal hair color. Psychologist like Rosemary would make the kid look like her dad to maximize potential.

    This game is anything but easy if you're trying to 100% it. lts just like MGS2, which funnily enough, also had Raiden as the main character.

    Wait.. you had issues with Armstrong?? I'm really curious as to why people think his speech is "childish". It might not have been deep, or that it was sort of hypocritical and all.. but dumb? Wasn't political enough or what? I quite liked the character and nothing he said didn't make sense.

    My biggest problem was that the game was pretty poor about letting you understand a few things. The fucking dodge move comes to mind. Still. Last years GOTY for me.

    I'm a huge MG fan and i've played all of them except Rising, just haven't gotten around to it but i do think it's a great spin off and they did pull it off. Originally they were going to use Gray Fox as the main character i wonder how that would've been...i will def be getting this on the next steam sale.

    Maybe it was just the PC version (I played on PlayStation), but once I got used to parrying, I never accidentally attacked or vice versa. You can also fix the camera problem with the lock on button; I don’t know though, did the PC version lack that as well?

    a review that doest analyze what is "bad" on a game but instead what analyzes what the game IS. bunnyhop's reviews are the fairest ,complex , dedicated and smart i had enough of stupid newbs that base the whole game by judging their own playstyles,George analyzes all the methods. fuck Yathzee,fuck the Rageaholic,fuck the angry fanboys. so far this game has been out for a while now,and the only people that i seen being fair and honest towards the game so far are Maximilion,Joe and Bunnyhopshow i wish i could produce reviews too

    PEACE WALKER is an offensive sequel? Come on man, get real. It's probably the best entry in the series, it puts you in control of the history's greatest super soldier at its peak, just like MGS originally did. Those 2 games are the best ones in the MGS series. No wonder Kojima actually decided to base MGS5 based on where PW left off, it's not offensive at all, it's a masterpiece.

    Yeah...a game that gave "Stealth game for babby's" a new definition, had a ridiculous amount of unnecessary vehicle boss battles when they could've had a wider variety of missions, along with the ridiculously stupid plot, was a masterpiece...right. Not to mention the fact that Portable Ops, a game made before they knew what they could do with the PSP, does plenty of things better than Peace Walker, like, you know, different models for the people you recruit, as well as playable unique characters. Peace Walker isn't anywhere near being the best or one of the best in the series.

    That final boss is not looking as ill-informed or far fetched these days now is he lmao I think it is always interesting when other cultures/countries make art about your country because by which tropes they choose and how they portray things they are saying a lot about how your country looks from the outside to them. Great video as always

    I just completed watching the let's play for this game. It tastes nothing like the usual Kojima fare (maybe the spirit got preserved in the codecs, but that's it.) Gotta say: it is a very pretty Devil May Cry game though. Raiden's elaborate coif and eyeliner were always on fleek. And I liked how ridiculous senator McFartinyourface sounded. One can say that when it comes to incompetent douchebags grasping the highest power in America - the game got kinda...prophetical?

    Another great video. As always. Actually, port is surprisingly good for being company's first port and it actually way better, then I was expecting. My computer doesn't meet even minimum requirements of game, and yet, it ran on it pretty well. Maybe, it wasn't solid 60FPS for all game (1280x720 highest settings... YEAH, RIGHT!), but it still ran pretty well. And, of course, game was really fun. I just hope, that someday Platinum will release their better works on PC. I loved Bayonetta and I hope to see some more of something like it.
