I am having problems with importing videoes to my iPhone, as videos shows up as MPEG files. Is there a way to change it, so I will be able to import videos from my SD card to iPhone?

Thanks so much! Just bought a 512GB iPhone 14 Pro Max and was wondering if I should have bought a 1TB one for ProRes or 4K HDR videos. But with this device, which I bought on Amazon, I can export those videos to clear up space again on my iPhone. Hopefully this will work as you've described. I also bought the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter to do the same with an external drive. Hopefully that will work too. Thanks again.

It works, but you need the SD card to be exFAT format, not NTFS. If your planning to upload the pics to Windows PC. And the entire process is different now. I had to call apple myself to have it explained to me. I had to talk to the manager because the tech support agent was refusing to help me with the apple product because he was claiming it was a 3rd party device. Since an SD plugs into it and apple doesn't make SD cards is kind of is , but overall he was wrong and the manager explained my issue with the format not being exFAT. Again if your planning on putting the SD files onto Windows PC beware, i had to buy a program for $1.39 from Microsoft for converting the apple video type of HEVC to Jpeg. After that you need to Transfer the video from SD to the Computer which takes a very long time. Id also like to add it took me 16 minutes to transfer a 18GB video from my iphone to the sd card reader device. And the quality of the video was greatly downgraded/diminished in the process. The best way to go about this is to activate(pay for) a month of extra iCLOUD storage for a month, and upload all photos and videos at once from your phone to your Windows PC. If you already have an Mac computer then this device is obsolete for taking photos off. But if you have a nice DSLR camera and want to put the pictures onto the iphone this would be ok, if you can get the file types correct. But having a Mac PC would be easy for taking photos off the phone. I myself am considering buying an Android phone now however. Spending 2+ hours on this myself i had to return the Lightning to SD card device. Its gonna ruin my video quality if i do this method and take way too much time. Or ill pay for extra icloud data once every 6 months or so when my pictures get too much for storage. Or spend $1000 on a mac laptop , honest consideration for myself right now. I myself Highly recommend everyone not to buy one of these accessories. Have a good day.

I'm involved with something right now but will come back later to share my own expericences with this. One thing is I just bought a 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max and am going to sell my 512GB iPhone 14 Pro Max so I won't have to deal with immediately transferring files when I'm away from my computer out shooting. I'll be back to add more thoughts and share experiences. Thanks.

when you export photos/videos from the iphone to sdcard, it nukes all the meta data such as when the photos were taken etc. how do you fix this?

That’s an apple issue, same thing happens when downloading files from iCloud. It’s extremely irritating. You could: 1) Open the files with the Photos App on MacBook and it’ll show the right information. 2) Other software such as Adobe Bridge to view the right information 3) Transfer files using Image Capture on MacBook to keep the correct Meta Data.

Why is that when i try to transfer photos (raw) from my sd card to my iphone (xs) it says that the photos are 25mb but when i view them after transfering on my phone they are pixelated?

I think it takes time for them to load. I’m not sure though without more info.

Somes reader adaptor are not showing in the gallery pictures lettle icon in the bottom not problem some iPhones got new updates you will not see that icons anymore but you still seeing you file in you SD to import or transfer music pictures that what’s apple says

The setting is actually only to enable accessories to connect, even though your iPhone hasn’t been locked for more than 1 hour. I don’t know if it’s a bug or something, but after I turn the setting on, I have no problem connecting my card reader 🙌🏽 when I turn it off again, it goes back to not connecting 🤷🏽‍♂️

Does that reader also work for dash cam SD cards?
