Review: How Good Are Burago's Diecast F1s? Model Review & Comparison
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Let's have a look at Bburago's latest Formula One race car releases. These are 1:43 scale, diecast (and plastic) construction with rubber tyres. The video shows both types of packaging (with or without driver - big difference in price!) and compares the up-close detail of a Burago Red Bull with a Spark Red Bull. Also, take a look at the 2023 Mercedes, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Alpine models.

I’m a college student who is also obsessed with F1 models so value for money is paramount for me when collecting. Bburago models are my absolute favourites, the quality is fantastic in recent years, especially for a €10 base 1/43 model here in Ireland. I have 15 of them in my collection, 1/43 and 1/18 scale, and will continue to get more in the future.
Honestly bburbago models are still toys and I prefer them other than any other

@@chrisgoat6435 Uh, it's exactly the other way around. They're not to be played with, as they're display-pieces. - Well, I'd say those tiny ones with crappy wheels and details are toys for kids to throw around. But even when I was a kid I saw the difference between ones that looked kinda crappy and ones that are clearly to be displayed and taken care of. - But you're saying that they're all toys to be pushed around and play out scenarios with?... @@chrisgoat6435no they’re not, some like Minichamps and Spark are display models only. Look it up if you have to
I purchased a Burago (1/43) RB18 in an acrylic display from WM for $10. The details are impressive.
You get a F1 model for a reasonable price. I think they're perfect for a beginner, they get to have the car they want for a fraction of the amount that it would take them to get a Spark or Minichamps. If they do start to like collecting these then maybe they can move to other brands without wasting a mini fortune in a hobby they night end up not liking that much.

It’s pretty wild that I can find these Bburago models for ~$9usd at a Target or even some groceries here stateside. I’ve got a few on my desk at work and they’re a fun way to find other F1 fans.

I really like rolling my bburago around so i dont mind the cheaper cost if it looks that good
I'm from indonesia and I bought my standard model sf23 for 150.000 IDR (about 14 AUD), premium MCL3 for about 300.000 IDR (about 28 AUD) and the additional version of the 2022 ferrari you mentioned for about 250.000 IDR (about 23.5 AUD), so over here they're mad worth if you're already in the market for models

Agreed they’re still a long way off the detail of Spark and Minichamps but they’re a lot better than they used to be and good for the price.
I haven't had many model cars for a long time, mostly because I have no good space to store them so that they are visible. But a year or so ago I got a Yamaha MotoGP model from Bburago and although up close it can look a bit toy-ish from 60-70cm distance where it is placed on my work desk it looks amazing, almost as if I took it out of a photo. And it was I think 13-14€ to buy. Amazing deal for money
I started collecting them recently at Target For just $8 per car for the cardboard versions. I got a Carlos Sainz Ferrari an a Checo Perez Red Bull. Walmart is selling the acrylic case versions for $10 The quality is very good for what is paid for.

When I think of Bburago I think back to the 1/18 stuff they released in the 80's and early 90's which were decent along with Maisto but couldn't hold a candle to the stuff that came later by Minichamps and AUTOart. The last one I bought is one I sold but probably should have kept which was a 1/18 2005 VW Touareg Dakar racer.

Good tip!
I prefer bburago models because they’re really good models for their cost. I personally dont feel like shelling out more money for extra detailing as bburago does quite a nice job all around. They’re perfect for someone who wants to collect f1 cars as they’re not too costly and usually quite accessible.
If it's good it's good, man... I never understood this sort of "brand discrimination", which I didn't even know was a thing in this scale-model realm (although, I'm not surprised, cause it happens everywhere). But I get it comes from a certain reputation and then it becomes a blanket-statement/understanding of "this brand good/bad because such and such". - I happen to have a Burago-model right behind me, which I pulled from storage recently from like childhood/teenage stuff I saved, and while it's a larger 18th scale model (nor a Formula 1 car), it looks great, and it's probably from like 20-25 years ago. - Personally, while I was somewhat interested in collecting some die-cast models, particularly based on pop-culture (so like cars from movies and TV), they were either too mediocre-looking or too expensive, or even both, as sometimes just OK-looking 24th-scale models can be quite pricey for what they are. So I turned to the "Fine, I'll do it myself!" approach and got into model-building. Yes, that means they will be made of plastic and you need to put in many hours of work. But if you do it right, the result will be better and it can cost less in a way, ignoring the hours (but I'm a creative, so I'm happy doing that). You can have kits for like 25-35 USD and while you need tools and stuff, you spread the cost over multiple models, it's not that bad for getting better results. - Again, it just costs time and effort in addition to the base price. - That said, those Burago 43th-scale models actually look really good, so there's no need in the case of those. I mean, I don't think I could improve on those doing it myself, other than building it larger in like 24th or 25th scale which it tends to be. Also, to answer the question about customizing existing models: I'm all about that. Cause another thing I'd probably do, if I'd make one myself, is probably leave OFF decals, particularly of sponsorships. I know that's just how it is on the real cars and it's "true to life" and in some ways also makes them "iconic", but for most of what's on vehicles in sports, I'm just not a fan and feel they detract from the look of a vehicle. - So yea, I don't care about accuracy or "originality" (in the sense of how they came originally) and more about how something looks creatively (so "originality" in that sense) and I'd rather create something unique that's merely inspired by something that already exists.
@wixy500
Ай бұрын
Oh yeah, building your own from a kit is far more satisfying and gives more flexibility over how you want the model to be presented. I've got a few of my builds on the channel, but I only do race cars with all their signage, nothing "creative" like you mention. Cheers
About the metal painting on the exhaust, yeah it does add a ton more, I've done it in all my cars and it's quite noticeable. Great vid!
Depending on the market, they have other variations of these; here in the US, Walmart sells the acrylic box/plinth version without a driver for $10, and Target sells the basic window box with a driver for $8. I think they're a steal at those prices, especially the Target versions. Only seen Merc/Red Bull/Ferrari at Target, but Walmart had McLarens with the last wave so I'm hoping the others will pop up.

Me too! Though yet to see one in the shops
My son became a big fan of Formula 1 recently. So right now, I am all over Aliexpress (available in Slovakia) and buying the Bburago F1 models. The cheapest I got one was for just over 7 EUR, so the prices are great. And for my son to play with them and occasionally destroy one or the other, that's the best value. The only downside is, only 6 teams are available (Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull, Sauber, Alpine). However, it seems Bburago is adding Aston Martin this summer, very excited about that! No way would I buy such a small 1:43 model for over 50 EUR, even if it was more detail. No one sees the difference when it's sitting at the shelf. I hope they will add Williams, V-carb and Haas over time, let's see..
I'm collecting a lot of 1:64 models and Spark made a lot of formula 1 cars in this scale for a very nice price but I don't know if they are any good because their GT3 cars are sometimes very weak in the 1:64 scale
What a great video. These are definitely worth the asking price (without markup) and it makes it possible to get a fairly decent collection without being very expensive. It will always depend on what your expectations are.

Good thoughts on this. Personally, I would consider a Bburago (the version with driver model) if I saw it cheap and it was not a team I was overly bothered about, so picked up the Ferrari in Bburago. Teams I mostly care about are McLaren and Racing point (only have a limited modern F1 collection) so I'd grab those in Spark but consider others in Bburago if the right deal came up. The Leclerc F1-75 I grabbed was about £16. It's entirely possible to make some small upgrades on the models as well, like sanding the tyres a little to remove the line, or mocking up aerials etc... The statement around them looking fine on the shelf is exactly that - you can tell they fall short up close but from any sort of distance, you'd barely notice.

Excellent scale f1 for the budget price
I was pleasantly surprised by how far Bburago have come. I decided to do a wall mount (plan view in cabinet) of the 2023 cars including both Merc and Aston safety and medical cars. I didn't want to spend a fortune by using Spark/Looksmart or Minichamp so had a punt at Bburagos collection. As you mention, they dont do all the teams (Alpha Tauri; Minichamps/Spark, Haas Minichamps and Williams; Minichamps). Where and how they are displayed, you can barely tell the difference between the Bburagos and the Minichamps. Oh and the idea of keeping the cost down went out the window as I decided to get all the drivers helmets in Sparks 1/5 scale to mount next to each car. But frustratingly, Schuberth helmets are 1/4 and arent made by Spark; Perez, Verstappen and Hulkenberg.
