REVIEW | HOTRONIX FUSION IQ HEAT PRESS

Ойын-сауық

In this video I’ll highlight everything I like about the Hotronix Fusion IQ heat press, what I think could be improved, after upgrading from the A2Z Swingaway.
VIDEO BREAKDOWN:
0:00 - Introduction
PROS
1:02 - Build Quality
2:44 - Platen Size
3:42 - Interchangeable Platens
6:14 - Swing away Feature
8:33 - Computer System
11:14 - Treadable Platen
CONS
13:25 - Expensive
14:20 - Weight
15:09 - Computer Hiccups
17:06 - Platen Cost
18:00 - Platen Height Variations
19:25 - No Auto Open or Auto Pressure
20:52 - Customer Service
26:39 - Conclusion
RATINGS:
Price - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (It’s expensive, but you get a lot of features for your investment)
Features - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (About the only features it doesn’t have is auto open or air pressure. But what it lacks in arguably unnecessary perks, it makes up for with a double-threat upper platen positioning system)
Reliability - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (So far it’s been exceptional across the board)
Service & Support - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (The Hotronix service team was excellent to work with and aside from a few hiccups I mention in the video, excelled in resolving my concerns)
Overall Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (So far, it’s stellar)
👍🏻 HIGHLY recommended - Computer based readouts, interchangeable platens, sturdy build, sliding platen and swing away functionality. There’s little to complain about in this excellent machine.
PROS:
* Sturdy
* Large standard platen size
* Sliding Platen
* Interchangeable Platens
* Swing away option
* Computer-based programs
* Estimated heat-up time
* WiFi updates
* Custom settings (monitor user performance, lockout users, inventory settings, etc.)
* Stylus is helpful
* Pressure readouts - no more guessing
* Fully thread-able (from front) (see other)
* Excellent performance w/ a few hiccups
CONS:
* Not for you if you’re a clamshell fan
* Expensive and perhaps overkill for noobs
* VERY heavy
* Computer sometimes randomly changes settings. Example, setting the time for 6 sec then after doing a press it resetting to 4 seconds instead.
* Only threadbare from the front, so designs MUST be upside down
* Platens can be $$$
* Platens not all the same height (pressure/lasers)
* No air pressure - so
* No auto open - so
* Service - broke one, took a while to figure out the return shipping before processing this one, forgot to include the stylus

    I got back from the impression show in Long Beach California I got to take a seminar for stahls I also go to see the fushion up close and the IQ hat. First thing it’s built like a work horse they are very nice and smooth my opinion it’s way the best press and I demo probably around 15 different press brands at the show. Also I noticed every booth around 75 had all the the fusion presses to what ever they where demoing from the garment brands to their DTF prints to the sublimation demos going on at the manufacturer’s booth. Now I can see why they are pricey it’s hands down the best press. The only draw back I see is there no auto open ( but not every press will be perfect) but if you want a workhorse this is. I talked to so many users and personal owners of this man one at the show they said hands down the best press. So here the thing I know every can’t afford my advise if you can save up and if you can make to a impression show near or the closest to save and buy it. it comes with a package deal around $5400 come with Fusion IQ 16x20 Fusion IQ hat press The new tag HP platen Kraft paper 16x20 25 pack 11x15 platen Heat pillow set-all 5 sizes 6x20” platen for sleeves / leg 6x10 platen Quick slip lower protector 11x15 Quick slip lower platen protector 16x20 Print Perfect pad 5x6 Thermo tape holder Thermo heat tape (2) rolls Flexible application pad Quick slip lower platen protector -6x10 1/8” thick 4x8 foam pad for hats $250 catalog product credit Free ground shipping anywhere in the us

    Excellent review, just what I was looking for. I needed some actual user experience over a long term period of use, and not just a sleek marketing video/basic tutorial. This was great. Still trying to decide between the Stahl's Hotronix Fusion IQ 16x20, or the Geo Knight DK20S 16x20...Hmm.

    Thank you for letting me know it was helpful! Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with brands other than Stahls. Hopefully you find one that fits your needs and budget! Best of luck!

    Thank you so much for this very detailed video. I saw on the website that it said it needs a dedicated circuit?

    Thanks for the feedback! Glad it was helpful. Yes, all Hotronix heat presses (and theoretically all presses in general) require a dedicated 120 amp circuit. After talking with techs at Hotronix about issues with my original A2Z, they were double checking this with me because running on a lower amp circuit, or one with other devices plugged in that can draw power, could cause issues with the platen not heating properly and other issues. Ideally, the press would be the ONLY thing plugged in on the circuit and no extension cord used. You can use a heavy duty cord, but they HIGHLY recommend only doing that as a last resort. Most homes have dedicated circuits in the basement/garage perhaps, or you can check the fuse box to see if the 20 circuits connect to things like a washing machine, for example. Most homes will have that on its own 120 circuit and you can unplug that, etc. But yes, for proper function, it needs to be plugged in to a 120 and be the only thing on that loop, or you could end up with function issues or tripped circuits. Hope that helps!

    The one shown here is a Husky work bench from Home Depot. They hold a lot of weight and come with casters for easy moving, if needed. I have the 54" model, but they come in different lenghts. www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-52-in-W-x-24-in-D-Steel-1-Drawer-Adjustable-Height-Workbench-with-Dark-Stained-Wood-Top-in-Gloss-Black-HOLT5201B11/317302932

    Interesting question! Because I ended up getting a new job that requires a lot of travel, I actually parted ways with this press and stopped doing apparel. I think the upper platen shell is steel, but the it could be aluminum. Sorry I can’t confirm it for you. I’m sure other KZreadrs can confirm it for you. Best of luck!
