I just ordered an M-Fuzz by Caline. It's supposed to be a Muff style pedal. KZread guys are saying it has a big sound to it. We'll see. 👊🏼💀⚜️

It definitely sounds like a Big Muff even though it's designed around an op-amp; *it pulled off a great pumpkins sound right out of the gate.* Op-amps, in theory, have infinite gain, but in practice, tops out usually at a couple hundred thousand with some designs going to a million, *but how much of that is useable in the audio bandwidth also varies.* The Big Muff transistor based designs use a soft clipping scheme which is unpopular with most popular transistor based designs. It has a unique advantage though because it can be configured to be input sensitive, and with the right architecture, your guitar volume can drop you down to perfectly clean, bright and punchy without suffering obvious volume loss out the speaker, then crank the guitar and it's grinding away. One of my current design motivations is maintaining everything Class-A so the only distortion in the signal is from transistors clipping, but it does have a significant impact in gain ratio unless you incorporate at least 1 op-amp. *The fuzz I'm currently developing has had a lot of focus put on the volume knob dropping it to perfectly clean, bright and punch then cranking it where halfway up, you get a variety of grind and sleaze.* I think if I run an op-amp in front of it, particular Class-A, I will lose that characteristic, but we will see. I may just stack a Class-A/B transistor stage in it with a switch and soft clipping diodes to take gain and clipping through the roof, but otherwise be an organic fuzz where the transistors are overdriven to achieve our distortion variety. With the current pure Class-A transistor arrangement, it's indiscernible from all of my tube gear, but actually sounds even better. *I would hate to fuck that up! lol* P.S! Start dropping your videos as reels in instagram at around 6 P.M. on Fridays or Saturdays too. I had videos go viral that way that hit 30,000 views in not much more than a week.
