Review Demo - Acoustic Amplification A20 20w Acoustic Guitar Amp
Read the review: bit.ly/Acoustic...
Few musical feats feel so intrinsically like compromise as amplifying an acoustic guitar-especially when you’re trying to do it on a budget. A lot of experienced acoustic players will choose the hit-or-miss proposition of miking their guitars rather than deal with a cheap, dodgy dedicated acoustic amp that sounds like a discarded car-stereo speaker in a shoebox.
Given these grim truths of acoustic performance on a shoestring budget, the fact that Acoustic has managed to deliver the thoughtfully designed and stage-worthy A20 for the price of an inexpensive delay pedal is noteworthy. That it often feels truly musical, organic, and full beyond the boxy, teetering-on-the-verge-of-feedback constraints typical of the breed will be a cause for minor celebration among cash-strapped cafe performers everywhere.
Most entry-level acoustic-guitar amps could easily be mistaken for budget electric-guitar amps (save for the brown vinyl often used to suggest rusticity and acousto-worthiness). But in the case of the A20 and its bigger cousins, the A40 and A1000, Acoustic chose to forego four right angles in favor of a stage monitor-like pentagonal shape.
The benefits are threefold: improved projection, more accurate and directional monitoring (which can also facilitate performing at lower, less feedback-prone levels), and more ergonomically efficient interaction via easy-to-see controls. It’s also an especially stable amp-a more than fair trade for not being able to perch your drink upon it.

I recently bought this amp and love it. I used it to play at my fathers service in a fairly large setting, from where I was at and others I spoke to, it was plenty loud and clear.
I'm not really in the market for another acoustic amp, but still a really well put together demo.
It is great to see someone review a lower cost item. And one that has so many features. Yumpin Yimminy! Great review John.
Those Koa Hummingbirds are beyond beautiful. Dammit John, you've got to get your own Rig Rundown the go, every time another beautiful instrument comes out of the collection, a full tour of the collection is way overdue.

Thanks E...I do have some great gear, but I don't really warrant Rig Rundown status. Happy just doing my twang-thaaang.
That bluegrass bit was pretty damn awesome!
Great playing John!! I love that Gibson Hummingbird, looks like a dream to play.
This is one of the coolest demos I've seen in a while. Damn fun! And since I'm looking for a small acoustic amp - prefect timing! :-)
This is a great review however the a20 has a manufacturers defect/design flaw that they are a aware of but feel that it is an acceptable flaw for the price point. There is a low constant hiss that is heard 100% the time. Because of this defect and their perspective on this flaw they almost lost a customer for life. However I was so impressed by the idea that I returned the amp and exchanged it for the A40 to give them another shot. This amp (the A40 NOT the A20) is amazing and I couldn't be happier. No hiss and wonderfully designed.

segromala77 the problem of the hiss has been cured on the A20.. and it’s sits perfect in my situation..
I tried it out myself and was surprised at how clean it sounds… for only like 130$ that’s a steal
Please put more bling on that Gibson, you missed a spot.
Does the A20 have 48v phantom power for a condenser microphone ?
This is a great demo man. sounds like a nice little Amp!
Amazing playing. What's John playing at the beginning? Fantastic guitar playing. I've never seen slide mandolin. Great work PG.
Thanks! Nice review--so was your review of the Bud amp. I just ordered a Fender Acoustonic (sic?) 15 and kind of wished that I had got one of these. But what I really want is an amp with an XLR and TWO 1/4" inputs. I don't think that any combo amps feature that.
Darn it! I bought an Acoustic 60w wedge just 2 years ago and now something better comes along! Back over to Guitar Center!
Anyone know where or how to obtain an amp cover for this style / dimension amplifier?
Just once I'd like to see a video demonstrating the product itself without a lot of other stuff embellishing it. Let the product speak for itself. Do an accompanying with other stuff to show its flexibility.
Would this amp work well on a non-acoustic guitar (e.g. a standard electric)??
Use a mic for a mandolin. Sounds like it was being heard while you're wearing ear plugs
Is this amp portable or does it need to be plugged in?
I used to do junk removal for evictions and I found one of these in someone’s house. It sounds really cool but it’s finicky too.
what is the di 0ut f0r mixers and pa's
quick question can you connect a dynamic mic to this amp???
This is obviously exceptional value but how good your acoustic tone is - depends FAR more on 2 things: 1) YOUR finger tone production 2) the pickup / micing system you use - (Retro fit is always better). Having said that 3 things are for sure in this demo: 1) Mr Bollinger is a pretty decent acoustic guitarist 2) this amp is beyond excellent value (they are practically giving them away at this price) 3) Mr Bollinger's guitar pickup sucks
When did Dane Cook learn how to play guitar
Pretty cool
A feature that I did not see showcased is the fact that it comes with a pedal loop.
What app are you using???
I don't understand the Loop effect or what it dose...???
what is DI? are the reverb and chorus on the same channel so the effects are heard through the mic/vocals as well?

Nobody gets it. Nobody.Nobody ever has and nobody ever will. An acoustic amp needs equalization, a compressor, a tuner, a delay, a reverb, ground lift, xlr out and aux in with volume and equalization controls and last a chorus, all that can be used simultaneously. A true shimmer reverb (reverb, plus upper octave) and control's for delay times, auto wah and compressor controls would be wonderful as well. So would and extra mic channel with reverb/delays and even a digital harmonizer. I'd pay $800 easy for something like that probably a lot more. Multiple reverbs and delays would even be better. Speakers plus an active high end driver. Stereo is nice, but not required. But that is all an acoustic amp really needs and all its ever needed. Anyone making it would get rich almost overnight.
