Hello Keith, I use the Novoflex focusing slide for macro shots. But the basic type. For professional use, there are more expensive slides. But as you said, the question is what you need for the job. The one I have is manual and precise (Made in Germany:-)). I will use the AstrHori lens with it. I've read a bit about the lens. It's supposed to be a bit brighter compared to the Laowa but has less contrast. But I'm sure you'll look into that too.👍

Thanks - I don't have a copy of the Laowa here any more [I do have a detailed review]. but it's very similar - the main difference is the difference between 2x and 2.5x, which is more noticeable than it might first seem. Not sure what 'brighter' means though? However, I'm always wary of comparing lenses based on single examples - especially since many of the lenses sent out for testing were early samples.

By brighter I mean, at the same aperture and lighting conditions, the AstrHori seems to collect more light. At the end it would mean less iso and therefore less noise. But as I said, I'm not sure if you can trust the results and how much it really makes a difference.

Hello there, I appreciate all of the content on color management. Your informative videos have been most helpful. On the topic of focus, I was wondering if you could shed some light on a question I have about calibrating autofocus for lenses with mirrorless cameras. Is it possible or necessary with mirrorless systems. I've had issues with the autofocus on one of my lenses where the point of focus consistently misses slightly beyond what I'm targeting. This is especially frustrating when working with a narrow plane of focus at short distances. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again for the quality content.

Thanks. It's been a while since I looked at AF adjustment. I've not seen the problem recently, but I can see how it could occur - the fix depends on the camera system and lens This is what I wrote in the past on the issue - it includes a special test image www.northlight-images.co.uk/camera-af-microadjustment/

@@KeithCooper Thanks for the reply, I'll look into the resource. Hopefully the camera and lens don't need to be sent in.

Hello Keith, Question just been asked and I dont know the answer. Your thoughts welcomed. Question reads Are printers affected by power fluctuations. The local power is 220v 60hz, however at peak times supply voltage can droo to 180v, I have measured it. Philippines do not have the most stable of power supplies, I suggest as belt and braces approach an AVR might be an advantage. I know its an off topic question for this post, sorry. Not sure where to put a curveball question. Thanks DaveB manila.

Yes, if I had supplies like that I'd look at a UPS for my computer and printer. Not an issue I've ever had to face, so my experience dates back many years, from when I spent a time in IT management [multiple servers]
