Great review. Very well done. I really appreciate that you used the lighting for months before you reviewed them. Other KZread reviews that are sponsored so they just get the lights, turn them on, give a glowing review and move to the next sponsored product pitch. I bought some recommended lights after that other type of review and they’re color drifting after a few months. Good thing they’re really inexpensive. I’ll feel a lot more confidence in buying these after your review, thanks again.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I do truly want to add value to videographers like myself. It's not helpful to basically state the B&H spec sheet in video form or sometimes even use the gear in controlled scientific environments. I want to know how it holds up on real world projects that I myself create. So that's what I want all of my reviews to be like. Use the gear on real projects and then give you my experience. Glad you found it helpful. Enjoy your new lights!

Another excellent equipment/product review; appreciate the demos as well as the examples. Was extremely impressed with how much difference they made when used outside in the shade/overcast. Time saving setup is a huge + as well as AC & battery. Thanks for barking up another great video.

Thank you so much. I appreciate that. I would recommend a more powerful light if you intend to use them outside more. These are limited outdoors, but work in a pinch.

It can make a great edge light outside. I've use it with the reflector to rim my actors and it provides more depth.

Oh nice. Good tip. I think that fits its abilities well outside. For a key light, you'll need something much more powerful.

I own the same lights. One of the things I don't like is that the battery mount is on the side and if you want to use it without a heavy modifier the battery weight makes it roll to one side when I direct the light from a top to bottom position. I am looking for a clamp with v mount to get the adapter on the stand at a more balanced position that doesn't mess with the direction that I set the light on.

You know what? I noticed the same thing. I almost always use the DC power so I'm not continually annoyed at this setup, but the times I have used battery, it has felt like it is a little straining on the unit with that weight imbalance. Good observation. We'll see if it has any longterm effect on the lights.

@@ginger_dog I recently bought another more powerful light, so this amaran unit turned into my portable battery powered option and I use the Sony np-f heavy ones, so I have to be careful with that and it is annoying. Hopefully it will be solved soon, although the adaptor would be another thing to carry around.

Will the standard light dome iii work with this?

Any Bowens Mount modifier will work. I used a 48" dome softbox on it no problem. Got some great results.

But you can use V mount batteries.

Not sure what you're getting at here. The compatible batteries are not V mount though you might be able to use V mount. These lights are small enough and light enough that V mount might simply be too heavy and bulky for practicality. V mount are great for battery life, but cost more in size and weight. You can get about an hour of use out of the Sony batteries these are compatible with.

@Ginger Dog look into the small rig v mount batteries. You can connect a v mount uf you buy a dtap connector.
