Review and Overview of SanDisk PRO-BLADE SSD Mag and Transport

In this video, I do a review and overview of SanDisk PRO-BLADE SSD mag and Transport. The Pro-Blade Transport has USB-C (20Gbps), which allows for speeds up to 2000MB/s read and write. The Mag has 3m drop and 4,000lbs crush resistance. I will review the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE ecosystem, including the PRO-BLADE STATION, which allows for up to 3,000MB/s transfer speeds.

It should be nice if they make this as RAID too. Anyway great video and made me purchased one

I like the basic concept of a 4-bay home station and a portable hub that I can swap the Mags between the the two housings but for me I was hoping to see many more ports on the hub. As a stills photographer, I need an Ethernet port and a couple of USB ports on the portable hub for certain assignments. I can't seem to find any info on whether this is PCIe Gen 3 or Gen 4. Meh.

The connector type of the blade is "not proprietary" but is however "unique"... which I'm fairly certain is, in a practical sense, the same thing. There seems to be a few elements of this system which are... unnecessary but potentially profitable.

The video is nicely made but didn't delve into the details I was hoping for. At the end I still wasn't sure what was the purpose of separate transport device with the swappable mags compared to just swapping regular external SSDs that cost about the same as the mags. The first third of the video is you telling the viewer what the last two thirds of the video is going to show them, which is totally redundant. Just get right into it! As regards the speed, from another video I discovered that the 20GB rate is based on USB 2x2 connector technology, which is NOT the same as USB 4 or Thunderbolt. Most laptops don't have the 2x2 connectors, so typically the transport device will only provide a 10GB data rate, which is what you measured in your video. The station which accepts multiple mags will supposedly support Thunderbolt. Here's another video I found for comparison: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnp_j9p7k8nfktI.html

Yes that’s correct, the station allows for faster speeds. Thanks for the feedback. I’m getting better at getting to the point, but also like to set context.
